The room I stayed in was not totally clean. I had to call for housekeeping to come up and clean all areas with glass (nightstands, desk, tv top counter). The housekeeper who came up could barely move her arms to wipe it down. There was food on the desk from the previous person who had occupied the room. I had already wiped down the bathroom vanity. Mirrors were not properly cleaned either. The hallways were not properly vacuumed. However, even though housekeeping was not up to par, the rest of the staff were great.

I talk to someone to book the room and a lot of the thing stated that was going to be in the room was not there.The restaurant was not booked to0 had to wait 2 hours.He stated that it would be at 7pm that night and is was not.My wife was so mad!!!!!!!Please help that was my first time coming back home in 2 years.Love the place but service was bad

Great customer service! Great attention to detail. The in-room dining was wonderful. What made it fall short of a perfect 5 was that even though they knew we were arriving with two pets they only had a bowl for one and the mat where the food was to be placed was dilapidated. But frankly, in time, I'm certain that they will implement solutions such that they can preempt any needs of their guests. The bonus? The facility is beautiful!

Excellent hotel, when we first entered our room it was obvious that someone had smoked in the room before us. The staff quickly found us another room of equal or better amenities and the rest of the stay was great. Good beds, good pillows, low noise, fast elevators, overall great. English PUB downstairs had great food.

Great Hotel -- The hotel is new / rooms are great / restaurant is great. Staff seems confused about SPG Program -- I had no recogniotion as a platinum ... was charged for internet / no water in room / no amenity / I asked about an upgrade and was met with confusion about program. Worst reception as a Platinum I have ever had.

My husband & I stayed for his firms Christmas party which was located at art museum. We had room service which was fabulous and had cocktails with friends after the party. Great staff and wonderful location!!!!

The staff is fine and the room is fine. Maybe my beef is with Starwood themselves. The company believes that the majority of their guests aren't paying for their rooms and the company that employs them is.
They figure that they can nickel and dime the people staying in their hotels, because (for the most part) it will be passed along in an expense report. $25.00 a night for parking (In Birmingham, AL not NY, LA, or Miami) $10 internet fee and a restaurant cafe that charges $6.00 for a cup of coffee. This is all highly unreasonable.
In the future they will probably be charging $25 a bag and charge extra for pillows...

With sad regrets, I will place the Westin as one last resort for an overnight stay. Security is lacking in the area of room privacy where hotel staff will barge into room without notification. Door locks should be checked by staff personnel prior to CUSTOMERS entering the room. The valet parking was the most prompt service offered during my sleepless stay at The Westin.

The staff was very professional and ready to please. Our room was a lot to be desired. When I opened the drapes, I was greeted by a brick wall on a cold dreary winter day. Not what I wanted to see on such a cold, cloudy day. Otherwise, the stay was fine. I would not recommend the hotel. Bad location, hidden entrance. Room was average. We were there on business for one night. Will not stay again. Valet staff was wonderful.

Only Westin I've ever been to where you aren't allowed to pull to door for registration or unloading bags; had to go to parking deck first if you're not valet parking. Understand valet parking but not allowing visitors to unload at door was beginning of unpleasant stay. Bathroom not clean upon arrival; dried shampoos/conditioner stuck all over shower walls; beds were hard, felt like a pillowtop topper placed on wood; lobby bar not open most of time forcing you to go to Pub attached to hotel which is mediocre at best, food and service-wise. I hate all of this because this is our hometown and we were there for event close by (location was good). Front desk attendants were very polite. Small sundries store had candy bars, mints and sodas, tiny selection and not a problem but hotel is not located near much else.

It would be difficult to describe the pleasure of the hospitality given by the Westin Birmingham Hotel--it was SUPERB at every level. "Vanessa" at check in should win an Academy Award for courtesy and enthusiasm, and joined by William and Pam (Concierge). The Todd's Pub staff were equally great with special mention for "Theo," Deborah and Chelsey. The Southern charm and hospitality could not have been better ! ! !

Each staff member that I was in contact with was delightful and engaging. It was a welcome feeling to be greeted warmly. From check-in to room service delivery, it's apparent that exemplary customer service is a high priority at Westin/Starwood.

Would definitely stay at this hotel again. Even though there was a very annoying blower type noise outside of my window at 6:30 am, I had a wonderful stay. I am definitely a Westin fan!

Pub was extremely loud and did not provide the warm atmosphere we expected after a long day of travel. We ordered our food and carried it to our room. Food was delicious, by the way,but we would have preferred the pub.

I had a group rate of $119 available but was told to get a room with Double beds would have to change to a higher rate. So I agreed to higher rate to insure room with double beds since my daughter was travelling with us When we arrived no double beds were available. Also paid higher rate and did not receive parking pass. Which I requested in and out rate for parking. When I went back to front desk was told to just pay the garage. I had asked for a late check out was told latest was 1:00 pm and when I checked out was told I did not have to check out until 4:00 since I was a gold card member. Also one of my rooms was never cleaned.

This stay was great the hotel is all new, high class and extremely clean.
The staff was hands down the best I've ever seen . They are extremely helpful, careing and concerned . This is the place you must stay !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would have given this hotel a 5 star rating but the air conditioning does not work well at night. The room was comfortable and the shower was awsome. I did not care for THE Pub, restaruant inside the hotel. My food came to my room in a brown box(not a plate) and it was cold. Customer Service including the bellsmen and valet were excellent. I will be staying here again.

the hotel was awesome.But their is no parking you have to park in a garage and pay over night fees. also the wifi is only free in the lobby not free in your room even if you are a spg member. I was very disappointed.

This was my 2nd visit to this hotel and I love the rooms. I enjoyed my last visit more because I was on a SPG floor and the room was in a better location. The valets are wonderful and the front desk was very helpful!!! I have another stay planned in 2 weeks. The location is wonderful for activities at the civic center.

I was only here for one night. It was the night the airport was shut down briefly due to a bomb scare. Front desk attendant was very helpful and engaging. The place looks great - apparently only a year or less old. Like Westins in general it was so nice to go through the revolving door and smell that signature Westin room fragrance.
It was a Sunday so many popular local eateries were closed butt he Todd English P.U.B. Was open and ill review that elsewhere.

This new Westin is beautiful, and we loved the Pub inside--great food and drink selection and quality.
The service was weird. The staff needed to be coaxed or asked twice to do something. When room service got my order wrong, I asked them to change it, after getting the impression that this was an inconvenience, I said, I'll go do it. "okay" was the relieved reply. I've had better service at much less expensive hotels. Your folks dont have the anything for the guest attitude. Or it would be my pleasure mentality.

Arrived approx. 8:00pm from 13 hours of wet/icy drive from Chicago. Decide to stay at an upscale hotel. 2:30 AM was when the loud party started and security could not stop it, the party went on until 4:30. We left at 5:30 for 10 more hours of driving and all we got from Westin was the old "sorry for your inconvenience".

Overall stay at the hotel is good. Staff is excellent and rooms are very clean. Choice of bath room tissue can be very much improved considering that the hotel is Westin. Also, I did not read the fine print, but the parking is charged at $12 per day, which I did not expect from a hotel like Westin.

It was a great room and my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Any other night and it would have been five stars, however, it was my wedding night and I reserved it with a large comment on my reservation that ya know if the hotel could do something special for us I would appreciate it. Nothing was done, heck, even a short letter or a bow on the door or anything like that would have sufficed... Just something to think about in the future to go the extra mile.
