Rated 5 out of 5 by Unusual but notable glitch Had a typically excellent Westin experience on the hotel side of the house -- staff, facilities, room, all top-notch as always. However, I need to say I was underwhelmed with the TE PUB bar / restaurant experience during my stay. On arrival night, bar staff spent more time cleaning up around me ( even though it was before closing time ) than attending to me. At Day 2 dinner, waitress told us "our entire draught beer system is down and we're running out of bottled beers quickly" -- which is a fundamental issue when the entire TE PUB restaurant experience is centered an a large selection of craft / draught beers, etc. This is an unusual exception to what I usually experience in SPG hotels. And maybe it was rare. But definitely worth noting. December 7, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Terrible Arrived approx. 8:00pm from 13 hours of wet/icy drive from Chicago. Decide to stay at an upscale hotel. 2:30 AM was when the loud party started and security could not stop it, the party went on until 4:30. We left at 5:30 for 10 more hours of driving and all we got from Westin was the old "sorry for your inconvenience". January 13, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by All Westins are not the same After having stayed several times at the Westin in Huntsville, Alabama, I was disappointed here. There was no white tea scent greeting me. When I called to order room service, the staff acted overworked and tried to talk me out of ordering. Then, we ordered two kids meals and two cokes and the total was $44. The breakfast menu was nothing like the Huntsville Westin either and the price here was much higher. The bed was nice and the location was good, but I was disappointed otherwise. December 15, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Staff Needs Work I was quoted one price. Once I arrived the price was totally different upon checking in. I inquired about the rate just before getting my keys and he in fact noticed that he was wrong...but had already authorized my card. Two days later when checking out I thought that issue had been resolved but the front desk still had the incorrect rate but this time charged the card. I asked that she correct it and finally did. When you're staying at a place this nice the one thing I dont want to have to worry about is something as simple as getting the rate correct! July 22, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by My bathrooms were dirty Hello, I stayed in room 320 and 302 in consecutive night stays and both times I found dirt/debris on my bathroom sink and a small feces stain left inside the toilet bowl in one of the rooms. Also, I had trouble with speed of service at Tod's English Pub too. One of the silverware napkins had a snot stain on it too. I'm not impressed with this hotel at all. Also, this is my second disappointing stay at a Westin brand hotel in a row. December 13, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Few dining options. The hotel only has one "restaurant", which is more of a sports bar with a loud ringing bell whenever someone drinks a certain amount of beer in a certain amount of time. Not a great atmosphere if you have moved beyond drinking games and just want to eat dinner. Breakfast is served in the same restaurant and has a stale beer smell. No taxi stand. Shuttle bus goes to the airport, but was too busy to take me downtown. Not acceptable for a business hotel. On a positive note, the room was clean and functional. October 26, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great property Had the pleasure of staying at this hotel on a recent business trip. Was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience from check-in to check-out. Hotel staff was very professional and the property was top notch. Will definitely stay here in the future. December 6, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Westin Birmingham Oct 25 Not informed nor given SPG room. Checked into room that was not cleaned from the prior guest (bed not made, wet towels on the floor). Given another room (also not a SPG room) and it was fine except a pair of shoes and belt from a prior guest were in the closet. Friends met us and had a drink in the lobby and then it took 15 minutes for the valet to retrieve the car. The valets didn't seem to know what they were doing. October 29, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent experience but the location needs to be built up Pros: Service was excellent from the moment I drove up to the door. This is a very nice, new Westin and a good option for those DRIVING around Birmingham. Cons: Parking garage is old and not worth the effort to navigate since free parking was on the street. Birmingham entertainment district has not yet been built up with food and socializing options. You either need to stay in the hotel Pub (very good) or drive elsewhere. September 20, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Superb Everything was terrific: the staff were so accommodating, the facility met all our needs. November 26, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by GET A SUITE-THEY TREAT YOU BETTER When I entered I was treated as if I couldn't afford a suite. I asked for a two night stay and she said nothing was available. I had to ask if any where available for one night and then we could change rooms for the 2nd night to a regular room. With a suite we were treated better, room service was very quick and the mixed drinks had more vodka than juice which was awesome. Everything was 5 stars in the suite. We go to the regular room and it took them 1 1/2 hours to bring one mixed drink and it tasted as if their were no vodka in it and was charged $35 for it. The blind the rolls up was on the ground and you heard every toilet flush and every door slam which caused are last night to be a nightmare. So, if you decide to go then stay in the suite and get charged $600+ for a suite and room service. Also, don't trust the prices for massages, we found out the hard way. We loved the suite BUT not the regular room. July 28, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Comfort Hotel was great. Clean and comfortable. The staff was great with one minor exception. Decided to have dinner in my room. Went down to the bar to order and take my order up to my room. Took 10 minutes before one of the bartenders gave me a menu or acknowledged me. Foood was great but bartender took almost 15 mins to cash me out making my food cold by the time I got to my room. July 30, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by No view The hotel's location does not provide the best views of Birmingham. Also, they charge $9.95 for internet access, which is absurd in the land of free wi-fi. Plus guests must be very specific when requesting handicap accessible rooms. My mom has mobility issues, but was given an "accessible" room with a tub. Sure, the room had a doorbell, but that didn't help her get in the tub. July 22, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Customer Service Hotel is excellent destination choice when you are attending events at BJCC. November 20, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Service was terrible Our service at todd English pub was terrible. we never received our room service until I called and the by the time we got breakfast it was past 11am and the food was cold and not very good. November 5, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Birmingham's Best Kept Secret And now we want the world to know all about it! The entire staff is well-trained, professional, courteous, and respectful; everyone seems to love what they do! The hotel is elegant, and our room was immaculate, well-stocked, and comfortable. Thanks to all for making our short visit so memorable. We plan to make it our "go-to" destination while in Birmingham. July 5, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by A great new addition to Birmingham hotels I was glad to see another SPG property in Birmingham. I love Westin hotels. November 4, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Rooms are average size Guess I was expecting a little more due to the Westin brand. Perfect location due to the event we were attending. Room & parking over priced for the downtown area of Birmingham. Front Desk staff and bellman all provided exceptional servie though. They made the difference in our stay! August 19, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good stay Karishma was excellent!! The Pub was rarther slow but the ambience was great. October 28, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Beautiful hotel, but some disappointments The hotel was beautiful. The swimming pool was not what I expected from the pictures on the website. In the middle of the night, the alarm went off and woke us all up, then they said it was a false alarm. That was scary an disturbing. I had an 8:00 meeting and lost sleep. June 18, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very Comfortable We enjoyed our stay! Our room was very comfortable, and the bar/restaurant was very, very fun. Karishma checked me in, and she was friendly and efficient! We were attending an event in the BJCC, and it was very easy to walk over. I will be back! July 21, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by great propery will be my new hotel of choice in Birmingham...wish i realized it was there when i was in town in July. Great location, clean, friendly and a solid restaurant. September 25, 2013

Rated 4 out of 5 by good Nice Downtown Hotel. Very comportbable October 12, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice hotel Checked in very late and really didn't do anything but sleep, but a nice hotel. Smaller than most Westins in hotel size, as well as room size, but very nice and clean as well as brand new. June 17, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by The staff is very friendly! Every person we encountered from the valets out front to the desk clerks and room service staff were all very friendly and seemed to be dedicated to making our stay very pleasant. July 3, 2013

Rated 3 out of 5 by Recent Westin Birmingham Stay Our first stay at a Westin Hotel was in Dallas a few months ago and we thoroughly enjoyed the stay so much that we sought out a Westin Hotel along our vacation travel route in Birmingham. Overall our experience was good. Being unfamiliar with the city we passed the hotel and had to call for directions. The entrance is not on the main street and has very limited parking for arriving guests. At check in the reception staff took another guest and failed to acknowledge me until after they had finished the business of a few other customers. Once acknowledged the staff met our needs quickly. The room was very clean but slightly smaller than the Dallas location. We arrived late and ordered room service. Our food was delivered in a timely manner and tasted great. My kids loved the pool and hot tub. The hotel has a great poolside area to sit and read or just relax on one of the outdoor couches. The fitness room was small in comparison. I had to keep checking in and wait for an open treadmill. The hotel does offer a run route map for outdoor running. Free parking is very limited especially if you are arriving late. A parking garage is located within walking distance and you can enter the hotel from the garage area on the second floor. Summarily we had several pros and cons for this location. If I was traveling to Birmingham I would stay in this hotel again but not on a busy weekend. June 24, 2013
