Rated 4 out of 5 by I may never stay on the strip again.... My husband and I were in town for an international rugby tournament and it was freezing cold, so we were so happy when we finally made it back to our warm, comfy and clean room. If we were on the strip I think we would have felt obligated to check out the scene. The Westin was cozy and warm. We went to Marssa the first night for a couple bites of nigiri and a bottle of sake. All of the staff were very nice and the food was delish. The next night we ate at Rick's. We just needed food and they had it, close, warm and not too spendy. My husband had the burger, I had the sesame salmon salad and both were bigger than we expected, so we took the calamari we ordered back to the room. There are lots of places around the common areas to relax and enjoy the amenities. We kept saying that we felt like we were in Morocco or Cancun. We saw brave people swimming in the pool one morning. It looked nice and there was a life guard all wrapped up keeping the folks safe. The hot tub was the only thing that looked enticing to me with the cold weather. There are tons of lounge chairs, tables, etc. They also have a tether ball area (different) and I saw tennis courts. The neighborhood has pathways everywhere so you can walk, jog, etc. February 12, 2013

Rated 4 out of 5 by Good, but work to be done. . . Property is in a nice location, adjacent to Lake Las Vegas. Although the golf course is out of commission, the area is still beautiful. The rooms, pool, facilities are in good shape, but some of the service areas clearly need assistance. For instance, the breakfast buffet in Rick's Cafe. The food was good and prepared well, but it takes forever to get seated. The Hostess had a lot of trouble managing the seating everyday (six days) we were there. We waited for over 45 minutes one day. There were many tables set up for service, but the Hostess did not fill them. On our last day there (3-26-14), we waited for over 30 minutes. I checked with the Hostess 3 times for an update on our wait, but was given only a smile. Each time I checked with her, I could see at least 6-8 open tables, cleared and set, yet unfilled. When were finally seated, we were placed at a table for 4 people, even though there were just two of us and I counted 4 open 2-person tables. There were many larger groups still waiting. The hostess and floor manager clearly needs some further training. The follow up from Guest Services is also a problem. Since there are only two of us, and we are not messy people, we utilize the "Going Green" program for housekeeping services. But on two occasions, we did not receive our credit voucher from Housekeeping staff. When I called and pointed this to Guest Services, they told me that they would send up a voucher "right away". We have now returned home and are still waiting for our two vouchers. This property has only been in the SPG/Westin chain for a few years, so I am confident they will work out the service bugs. Rated 3 out of 5 by We'd Recommend - But with Reservations The property is beautiful, and we had a beautiful view of the lake from our room, but the staff... and the food, not so much. The pools were both 80, which in the 105 heat is great, but very cold to swim laps in the morning, which we did three days running. If the pool was kept at 82 or 84 it would still be refreshing in the heat, and not freezing in the morning. The food at the pool was pitiful. We had a Chop Chop salad with a miserable maybe 2 ozs. of chicken for $14. They were out of the fish tacos and a cocktail we wanted all weekend - poor ordering/stocking. The staff was young and unprofessional. The breakfast in Ricks was just plain bad. We loved our waiter, Rene, but the staff was overworked, my soft boiled eggs were like rocks (TWICE!), the berries had bad ones included, the tables were not cleaned promptly so the birds jumped on the tables to grab food, the wait was long even though there were many tables with no one seated at them and my Travelocity voucher said 'breakfast for two at Ricks,' but the voucher we got from the hotel was for only one specific breakfast or the buffet - which is only available on the weekend. The concierge referred us to a local Italian place that was good, but not fantastic, like the food on the strip. August 7, 2013

Rated 4 out of 5 by Great location with beautiful lake views Unexpected find outside of Vegas. Beautiful views with lots of sitting areas to enjoy the views next to pretty fountains and waterfalls. Free shuttle to the Strip about every four hours from 10 am until 11 pm. Another shuttle takes you to the village where there is shopping, restaurants and a casino within the Lake property. Decor is very traditional, not the usual contemporary Westin style as Westin just took over this property in 2012. Local residents have an arrangement to use the facilities so we met a lot of nice local people and learned about the area. The rooms are adequate, not huge. The bathroom configuration was odd, the door was in the way and we only had one sink. We did not have a deck only a Juliet style balcony with sliding doors which was disappointing as the lake view was spectacular! Coffee pods, bottled water, and tea were provided daily with elite status, I think. It is category 3 which fits but we will return again and again. Not perfect yet but no doubt as the economy gets stronger, this place will improve a lot. Service in hotel was excellent but the pool service varied quite a bit by server. The pool food was just ok but inexpensive. We did not try any of the many other restaurants in the hotel but did eat in the Village and had great meals there. Enjoyed our stay so much we booked an extra night! April 29, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by My weekend Stay Good morning, Thank you for checking in with me. Well our stay was a bittersweet! My families consist of my wife and our three daughters, 4, 2 and 1 year of ages were planning to celebrate special day of two of our family members. Friday was my birthday and Saturday was my daughter’s first birthday. When we arrived on Friday to check in around 6pm we were told that our room was still being ready. We were giving a temporary room till we get our room but our kids were getting tired and we called back with the receptionist, Patrick. To make the long story short, it was 11PM by the time we got an executive suite with only one king bed. It is not so much having an executive suite but the basic amenities of resting beds for everyone. I booked a room which had a king bed and a pullout sofa bed. We were not even given a crib for the little one, something I was too tired to ask and your management never offered. The remaining weekend was pleasant and the two daughters enjoyed the water feature, as much as we were given a crib to have our daughter sleep safely in her own bed. We were also given a roll up bed where everyone had a good night rest on Saturday. Westin Las Vegas is a very beautiful and family friendly place; however, the evening shift service was despicable. FYI, I am not discouraged to return to Westin, we are already planning to come back real soon. Sincerely, Nebiyou August 19, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not happy with this resort This hotel didn't recognize Gold or Platinum members. When I asked at the desk if there was such a line, they said, not today you have to stand in line with everyone else. Then, after checking in at 3pm, they didn't have a room ready. We had to drag our suitcases down to the pool for 2 1/2 hours. We couldn't go far because we had to keep an eye on our personal belongings. They didn't offer to store luggage. So, we lounged by the pool and didn't see a waiter for 40 minutes. I had my daughter go the sandbar window to see if we could order food and drinks and no asked her is she needed help. So, we waited at our chairs and had to hail a waiter. No waiter just walked around to see if anyone needed service. At 4pm, I called to see if our room was ready and it wasn't. I called again at 4:30pm, no room was ready. Finally, after no call back like they promised, I called the SPG member services to see if they could help with the situation. It wasn't until a supervisor called the Westin Lake Resort and talked with the Sale/Marketing Manager to get a room ready. It was 5:18pm when we got our room. Then, we got to our room wanting to take a shower and there was no shampoo, conditioner, soap, or blow dryer. This is what we dealt with in a short 12 hour stay. It wasn't worth it. We travel a lot and never had to deal with this level of incompetency. This is far from being like any of the other hotels in the Starwood network. August 6, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Unfortunately not as good as last year... Being locals we usually have a pretty good understanding of how the hotels and casinos are in Vegas. Last year for the 4th of July we decided to check out the Westin and had a blast. This year was a severe disappointment. Arriving there everything seemed fine until we had dinner at the Cafe downstairs. After 15 minutes of waiting for a drink and menus the waiter finally brought us water and asked myself and my girlfriend what we would like to drink. Completely disregarding my cousin and our two kids, who drank water for the remainder of the night. When we finally got the food our sons was a plate of cold past with what looked like uncooked beef on top, the fruit I got looked like it had been sitting on the plate for about half an hour before being served. The rest wasnt better. We decided to order room service and one of the dishes that came up looked like the Kraft mac and cheese out of a box. The next morning we went back for the buffet with not much promise and disappointed again. Luckily the pool and the staff there was great and very accommodating but expecting one of the front desk staff to ask us how our stay was when checking out, I received a bill and a "have a nice day"... The one person I do remember was the valet named Bo was was extremely friendly and actually made our departure decent to handle as we left. Needless to say we unfortunately will not be coming back to the Westin. Too bad, it was a great place in 2012... July 6, 2013
