Rated 1 out of 5 by Horrible experience, rude staff Our stay at this hotel was terrible and we will never being staying at another Westin. From the initial phone call to make the reservation until checkout, we found the staff to be rude, unhelpful, and comple inhospitable. There were only 3 staff members that were actually "nice". Everyone else was so rude. The room was average, it was just the staff that was appalling. If we hadn't been there for a wedding, we definitely would have left, mid-stay. March 6, 2016

Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful downtown hotel Great staff, perfect location! Mattress was hard and needs to be upgraded. The jack hammering and construction going on across the street was annoying. The room was big and comfortable. Bar was nice and relaxing and the room service is 24 hours and was delicious! February 8, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful Birthday Weekend!!!! Houston is my second home and this was my first time visiting the Westin Downtown. I was not disappointed. David H., the front desk staff, the bell man, the restaurant staff and the parking attendants were all awesome. You would think you were staying at a St. Regis how attentive and friendly they were. If you stay, you must experience the Premier Jr. Suite. It was more than enough space for me. For couples traveling, there was a combination shower/bath and also a separate shower. Everything went well, even my Uber ride to the club. Thank you, Westin Houston Downtown; I will be back. January 5, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Hotel in Heart of Downtown Houston I decided to stay here overnight to attend an industry holiday party nearby. I have stayed many times at this hotel, and while the I always enjoy the decor, rooms with hardwood floors (especially the upgrades to the suites), Heavenly Bed and nice bar area, what truly impresses are the staff. As my room was not ready yet when I checked in, I decided to have lunch at the hotel restaurant. Kirsten, the front desk manager, monitored the room situation, checked me in and delivered the room key to my table at lunch. The young shuttle driver who dropped me off and later picked me up at the nearby holiday party and the female bartender were equally friendly and helpful. The Gumbo soup, flatbread pizzas and fish tacos at the restaurant/bar, and the pastries (including croissants) at the deli shop, which they heated up for me, are tasty. December 6, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Solid Hotel in Downtown Houston, Responsive Staff I frequently stay at this hotel in downtown Houston and have always enjoyed my experiences here. The décor with trees in the lobby is very relaxing, and the wood floors in the rooms are a nice touch. When I had originally called in the evening for hotel shuttle service, I was told that the driver had gone home sick. After speaking with the manager Aaron, he went and picked me up with the shuttle himself, which was very responsive service. November 27, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Still my favorite in downtown Houston I've come to expect the excellent service and always helpful staff here but they still manage to excel every time I stay here. Downtown Houston is not an ideal location if you're a tourist, but I'm here for business and the hotel and location is perfect for me. Got a room in the tower instead of one of the upgraded rooms facing the front of the hotel and it's significantly quieter in the early evenings, the noise from the bar could be quite intrusive for rooms overlooking the lobby. Thanks to Amy, Kirsten, Tyler and all the other front desk staff during my stay. October 31, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by September 2015 Stay My daughter and I traveled to Houston to meet my husband on a business trip. The Houston Astros were in town playing the Texas Rangers and the hotel was chaotic. We could not reach the valet desk to give them our vehicle as people were running all over the street. Everything around the hotel is under construction and there are ear plugs on the night stand to help you sleep. The church across the street's bells began tolling for what seemed like 5 minutes at 6 a.m. every morning. While the hotel looks elegant it was a nightmare to stay here. October 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice Hotel in Downtown Houston Hotel has attractive decor, especially the tree-filled lobby, and well-appointed rooms with wood floors. Staff is friendly, and the bar is a nice place to relax. The restaurant serves above-average food for a hotel, especially the tasty pizzas and flatbreads. The only issue with this hotel is that every time I have stayed here (which is numerous times), I have to request an upgrade at check-in (as a Platinum level guest), instead of one being assigned to me automatically. Not sure why this is the this hotel. September 29, 2015

Rated 1 out of 5 by I will never stay at this hotel again While a nice and new hotel, we were charged as a "no show" for a booking error on a same day reservation made at 11:30pm. When asked about this, the manager refused to help us out in anyway and lectured us about how they were holding the rooms for us and would have given them away otherwise, which was clearly untrue (at 11:30pm the rooms were free). Having stayed many in many Westin hotels and had nothing but great service, this was unbelievable. As a result of this poor service, we canceled our remaining nights at Westin Houston Downtown and went to another hotel. I will never stay at this hotel again. August 6, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by High Quality Hotel in Downtown Houston Very solid hotel in Downtown Houston, close to the ballpark and other sights. The best part of the hotel is the friendly and helpful staff, from the front desk to the shuttle driver. Public spaces are nicely decorated with lots of trees for a comfortable, relaxing feel. As it was the weekend with fewer business travelers, I got a nice upgrade to an executive suite, which was both spacious and nicely appointed. The one area for improvement was the restaurant service. While the food was tasty, service was slow during brunch as the restaurant was very crowded. I had to sit in the lounge/bar area to be served, which I did not mind, but it took a long time to order and then to flag down the waiter later. Nonetheless, I would recommend this hotel for stays in downtown Houston.. July 24, 2015

After calling them to the attention of Manager David and Chef Oscar, we were impressively accommodated in the restaurant. These two gentlemen are fine representatives for your hotel. Staff was very helpful, brought items I forgot in my car and even offered to drive me to my business meeting and pick me up. That is a differentiator! Food buffet for breakfast was awesome, even serves fresh cold pressed green juice. Will be back for sure. June 20, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Wish it had been better Came to see the Astros, hoping to find a go-to place for games. It was our first time here, and we loved the location. Hotel was backed up for well over an hour upon checking in, but that happens. No. worries. We sat in the lobby and had a few drinks and a snack because the restaurant was under construction. The one request in our reservation was for a quiet room. We were given the 2nd room from the elevator. The 1st room off the elevator started a party about 2:30 am. I phoned the desk at 3 am, but the noise continued until 5 am. At 9:30 am, the maid came in our room and woke us even though her services were not requested. I got up to shower but was unable to because the diverter didn't work properly. The room was nicely appointed, the bed a bit hard, and if I wouldn't have had horrible guests next to us or a maid that would have let us sleep or even been allowed to shower…Just wish it'd been better or maybe I didn't complain loud enough. Our next stay is scheduled just down the street at a competitor. May 25, 2015

Rated 3 out of 5 by Needs Improvement on Front Desk Service A colleague and I stayed at the Westin while attending a conference. Our stay was prearranged by the conference organization who figured the total amount of the stay, so we could bring a school district check. When we arrived, the lady behind the counter said she could not take our check (made out to the Westin for the full amount) at that time and that they would need to put the total amount (over $700.00) on a personal credit card to stay there. I asked to speak with someone else to help me with this situation and another lady came up to speak with me. She also said she could not help me and rolled her eyes. I then asked to speak with someone else and a manager arrived and provided no resolution. I understand this may be a policy, but if I would have know ahead of time I would have been more prepared. The disrespect I received from the front desk employees was like nothing I have ever experienced before from any hotel. March 26, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor Management -- but polite front desk staff The reception staff and concierge were expert. Each encounter with those staff members was pleasant and informative. When there were issues with a leak from a room above mine and a lapse in housekeeping (a bar of soap with hair from a previous guest was left in the shower when I checked in -- after 5 pm), the night manager was aggressive and defensive. Despite several requests to speak to the general manager, I was not contacted by any management staff. I waited more than five days and then had to have my travel agent work to get a response from the hotel management. February 19, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by The Hotel Has Horrible Front Desk Staff The front desk staff and the manager, both named Reyes, were extremely unprofessional and were not at all willing to help clear up an SPG issue I had. I had to call them on my own cell phone and clear up the matter myself. The entire process took about 1 hour and I had just driven in from a 6 hour drive to Houston and just wanted to relax. I was there on business but had taken my 13 year old daughter for some bonding time but I was not in a state to bond happily with her after the incident. The manager and clerk both indicated to me that they did not need to contact anyone on my behalf. They were rude, horrible individuals that should NOT be working in the customer service industry. I will never stay again and I do not recommend this hotel to anyone which is a shame because it is a nice hotel and I was actually looking forward to my stay. Instead I just went up to my room, cried and fell asleep. It was truly a belittling experience for me. February 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice Hotel I usually stay in Galleria, this is my first time stay at Houston Downtown. Thought it was a new hotel but got a very vintage feeling, looks pretty nice to me. Hotel was very quiet, and service is nice. Traffic though is not as convenient as galleria if you are a leisure traveller (I mean nothing in the downtown during weekends), but will stay here again if I got another chance. February 1, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Westin Hotel in Downtown Houston Relatively new and well appointed Westin Hotel in downtown Houston near the ballpark. The decor in both the public spaces (Including the dramatic lobby atrium) and the rooms are nicely done. I got an upgrade to a junior suite, which offers a bit room with a sitting area and sofa. Staff is always friendly and eager to please. The complimentary shuttle within the downtown area is an extra convenience. Only downside is that downtown Houston empties out at night, with only a few locations open late, limiting dinner and nightlife options, but much more is accesible with a short taxi ride. We had many family members stay at the hotel and did not hear one negative comment! The Yankee Room was perfect for the small wedding. Rated 3 out of 5 by Unsafe Area of Downtown The hotel is beautiful and clean. We did not have any issues with noise. However, every time we exited the front of the hotel we were approached by homeless beggars, even at 10 in the morning. My son and I wanted to walk around a little while my husband participated in a conference call. Not a good idea. The most scary incident occurred the night before at 11 pm as we returned from a concert. This man became more aggressive and agitated as we ignored him. The bellman did nothing and it seemed as though we had bothered him when we told him what had happened. Also, plan on being repeatedly harassed by staff PRIOR to checkout. My husband was on a business call and the staff first knocked on the door at 10:45 - 15 minutes before checkout. Again 5 minutes later, again and again at 5 minute intervals. Despite acknowledging each knock and the fact that it was not yet 11 am, the harassment continued. At 11:03 as he exited the room, 3 staff members including a supervisor were waiting for him at the door. Perhaps the additional staff would be better utilized outside the hotel on the front sidewalk. Rated 1 out of 5 by Oprah Fans get better treatment that Platinum guests You are not going to believe this but I was at this property for business. I was planning on returning both the week after this and the week following for business. I am Platinum/Gold for Life. I reserved and paid full price for a suite. When checking in the desk did not inquire as to whether I needed a late checkout and I did so the next morning at 6:00 am I called the front desk to confirm availability because I have business downtown that would last until 3:00 or so. I could have checked out early and taken my bags with me but the front desk manager confirmed the late checkout so off I went. Around 2 I got an email while in my meeting inquiring as to why i wasn't out. Housekeeping had entered the room around the DnD tag and noted I had not left. I replied about the 4:00 and they said no problem. When I returned to the hotel around 3, the front desk called again so I told them I was back and would be packing up. At 3:15 the general manager, Chris called, and told me to "leave the room as soon as possible." Was it a comet about to strike the hotel, no sadly. Was it a mandatory evacuation because of Ebola, no sadly. It was an "Oprah" fan who arrived and wanted a room "now". The GM explained that the hotel was booked because of an Oprah talk and they wanted to upgrade a lower level guest into my room which I paid for as a courtesy. She seemed completely overwhelmed by the situation, rude, and unaware of the facts. When I confirmed that I had contacted the front desk, she said that she was not responsible for the front desk. Not sure this is true as she's the GM. She then told me she didn't like Starwood's policies which is a problem because she manages a Starwood property. I explained that I really didn't care all that much about the needs of Oprah guests but if I can't rely on the hotel to honor their commitments to guests, it can't be a hotel for business travelers.
