Rated 5 out of 5 by A Wonderfully Relaxing Visit This was our fourth stay at the Westin Cape Coral this year. We planned to stay two nights, but we were so delighted by our stay that we extended our stay by another night. We would have extended longer had it not been for a business commitment at home. Westin Cape Coral is one of the most relaxing resorts that we have visited. It has a great setting that provides spectacular sunsets. We had wine and dinner at the Nauti Mermaid each night that we were there. The relaxing atmosphere carried over to the other guests at the Nauti Mermaid. Everyone was so friendly without being intrusive. We want to compliment Taylor, the front desk hostess who greeted us upon our arrival. She remembered us from our stay in July and treated us like both long-lost friends and valued guests. We had the opportunity to meet Mr. Ashton, the general manager. He is a gentleman, and we shared thoughts on a number of Westin properties that we have visited. I have my own business, and I generally work from home. I am expecting a surge of work over the next few months, and we have decided to take my computers, large monitors, and reference material to the Westin Cape Coral and use it as an office away from my home office. Great property and great staff. Can't wait to return. October 22, 2013

Rated 4 out of 5 by The 1 bdrm suite was well worth it! We 'found' this hotel by sheer chance, but were stunned at the room we received for the price we paid. The positives included a full kitchen and the suite was beautifully furnished and spacious! The overall facility was clean and well maintained.Having the 2 additional pools at the condo complex was extremely nice considering it was spring break and the hotel pool was impossible to lounge by unless you went down to save a chair at dawn. The complimentary water taxi to the beach and the dolphin cruise on Sunday morning were outstanding. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. The fitness room well maintained with above par equipment. (small bottled waters would have been nice). Parking was convenient and free! The not so positives were that housekeeping was lax. We opted not to have them come in daily, however, when they did, the recycling was not emptied, towels not picked up from the floor (where you were instructed to leave them) and, having 4 ppl in the suite, we regularly only received 2 bath towels. The restaurant service was poor (slow, not attentive, food not made as requested), pricing outrageous and the food was just 'okay'. It would have been nice to have a spa price list at the hotel. We were just given a number to call (as the spa was in the attached shopping area). It was not encouraging to use their services. April 10, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great getaway We drove here for a low-hassle getaway, and had a really great experience. Our stay was off-season and an amazing price for a regular room. Making it even better: before we even arrived, the hotel upgraded us to a one-bedroom suite (with full kitchen) and with breakfast daily as the platinum amenity, it was a really great value. When we checked in, Taylor at the front desk could not have been more accomodating. The suite was really nicely decorated, immaculate, huge, and had a view of a nature preserve and the water and a large screened in balcony. Guests should know the surrounding area is residential, so either plan to drive so you can explore farther afield on your own (as we did) or plan to entertain yourself with the resort facilities. The pool is very nice, and there is a water taxi to Fort Myers beach (which we did not get to try), and a new kids activity room (which we did try). The hotel also has bicycles for free rental, and there are trails through the nearby nature preserve. For breakfast, Marker 92 was lovely - the outdoor patio overlooking the water is still pleasant before the heat of the day and Amelia, who was our server each day, could not have been more friendly and helpful. Just a pleasant, perfect start to the day. The prices, though, are high and after dinner there the first night we decided to try other local spots. August 24, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by good hotel with challenges For the most part the hotel was clean, beds comfortable, suites very nice, fairly priced. We stayed the week before Easter and here are my concerns: The waitress that serviced the pool area was horrible. We flagged her down to order a beer, took her 30 minutes to come back and then she never brought the check or asked if we wanted another. I went to the Nauti Mermaid (tiki bar) and the guy said he could not deliver food or drinks to the pool. The pool area was so crwoded, they ran out of towels and chairs constantly. We had to wait until 6pm each night to have our room cleaned, they did not leave coffee or creamer so we had to call each mornign to get that. The restaurant was ok, but not too kid friendly. The Eggs Benedict was horrible! $18 they used djon instead of hollandaise. The kids club program was ok, but they did not what was advertised on the flyer=unhappy kids. They had a fire pit and advertised smores, the 3 nights we were there, they refused to light it and said try tomorrow. SO it appeared they meant well, but did not have a big week strategy. The staff seemed confused and scrambled to service the large number of guests. Concierge was excellent, Valet guys excellent, front desk not friendly. The area is pretty boring, not much to do. I would probably not stay there again, not because of the hotel, Ft. Myers is pretty uneventful. April 1, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by The good and the bad For the most part, the hotel was great! The room was perfect, I had an amazing view and the majority of the hotel staff was very accommodating and friendly. It was my first time on the west coast of Florida and I went there to enjoy some time for myself and be relaxed since I am extremely stressed and the stay at this hotel was semi-relaxing. The restaurant attached to the hotel (Marker 92/Nauti Mermaid- Not sure how affiliated it is to the hotel) was beautiful but staff there is very oblivious and acts like they don't see you sitting in their area. Never got served so ended up ordering room service instead. The only other thing that was not so great was the fact that I received a complaint from guests next door because my dog was barking. Yes, it can probably get annoying...but this is also a pet friendly hotel. And dogs bark, they don't meow so having guests next door that made a lot of loud noises will prompt my dog to bark. The hotel, being a pet friendly hotel should have maybe put me in a room away from other guests? Not sure exactly how they expect me to control my dog at every moment and not allow him to bark. However, overall the experience was good. Semi relaxing. Unfortunately not fully relaxing because I was forced to pretty much make sure my dog didn't bark the whole time I was there. Either way, I would recommend the hotel to friends...I would advise them to leave their pets at home though unless they have one that makes no noise. March 11, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by This hotel needs some work All though the hotel it's self is beautiful we felt that it was under staffed for our needs. When we arrived there were no valet or car park attendees available. Come to find out for a hotel of over 200 rooms they only keep 1 valet on during the day and evening. On numerous occasion while we were either trying to valet or get our car to go out for the day or evening we had to go to the front desk after waiting for at least 10/20 minutes where the on staff manager took care of getting or parking our car for us. The restaurant we found that even though they advertise that they offer Starbucks coffee no one was able to serve it. The first cup I ordered came to me stone cold when it was suppose to be a hot latte, the second one that I reordered came back half the size and just luke warm. The next day I just ordered regular coffee. We sat at our table for 20 minutes before someone came over to serve us. The hostess was of no help felt she was a bit clueless and really didn't care. The food all though looked very good when we received it was very bland in taste. Our room was nice but there was no room service menus we had to ask at the front desk if they even had that as a service and then were given a paper print of what was available. There is no directory in the room to give you any idea of what was available for services in the hotel. Would it stop us from staying there again I believe in second chance so we might. March 2, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by In a word: Outstanding! I had no idea this gem was practically in our back yard. We spent 3 evenings because of some remodeling in our Ft. Myers home. The suites are luxurious and huge, the staff is well-trained, friendly, and go out of their way for EVERY single request. The management here has done the most important thing possible in customer service--they've given their staff the training, power and encouragement to say YES. Westin's signature scent of White Tea, wafts lightly throughout the resort, and it is so appealing and relaxing, Starbucks coffee is served in the restaurants and there is a coffee pot in the room with Starbucks coffee to brew your own. Free newspaper each day. Great happy hour 4-7 with great prices on drinks and flatbread pizza (yum). Yes, their is a "resort fee" of $15 daily, but my, it is a deal. Includes internet, a water taxi to Fort Myers Beach (if on your own, would pay that per person minimum), plenty of self parking, etc. Also, I like that they offer you a "green option," of choosing NOT to have housekeeping. If you make this choice you get either 500 Starwood points or $5 each day to use in bar or restaurant. Be clear though, as the kind front desk employee told me, this does not mean that you have chosen to forgo amenities. All you have to do is ask for additional toiletries, coffee, towels as you need them. Clearly, the location is somewhat isolated, but to me, that's the beauty. As long as one has a car, it is an easy drive to Sanibel, Captiva, Ft. Myers, Naples, or Bonita Springs. I highly recommend this resort. September 13, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful Unique Resort This spot was a wonderful surprise as I've never been to the area. Booked it since we saw it just became a Westin. It's a newish property... I think someone said about 3.5 years old... and was originally built as resort residences so the facility is much higher end than a typical hotel. We had a 2BR Suite that was just fantastic... more like an apartment. The property is remote, but I liked that aspect as it's so relaxing. We spent time just lounging at the pool as well taking advantage of the many activities on site... it was so nice we didn't feel the urge to leave. We enjoyed some of the activities that the resort provided (they print a schedule for the week)... did Yoga class and a few others... also took advantage of the great new bikes they just got to ride around the residential area. My son also loved the Bocce court and we rented kayaks and played tennis. The views and sunsets are fantastic (you see Sanibel and Captiva in the distance)... drove there one day... easy drive, about 30 mins. Didn't take advantage of the complimentary boat to Ft. Myers beach as we were so content at the property... will do next time as we'll plan more time. The staff was friendly and efficient and the food at the restaurant was very good... loved the raw bar... and especially enjoyed the breakfasts. This place is sort of like a little secret hideaway that Westin found and is doing all the right things to bump it up to the Westin way... to make it the best it can be. It's already a great place and I can only see it improving in the future. Very highly recommended. March 24, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Terribly disappointed Our room was not clean--the rug was disgusting and we should have asked for another room but we had plans with friends the first few days we were there and let it ride. The stains on the carpeting were obvious and gross, The comforter on one of the beds was stained and covered with pick(??) marks (looked like a dog or cat had clawed it. Sadly I did not notice that until a few days in. The bathroom floor had dust, black hairs in the tub and sink. We agreed with the policy about not cleaning, nor refreshing the room every day but from check in on 3/14 until check out on 4/3, our room was "refreshed" ONE TIME which was insane. And that was only because I went to the desk on Saturday and ASKED them to clean it. At first she resisted and said oh, no, you are not on the schedule. When I suggested that we were not on any schedule since no one had come near us, she relented and someone actually went and put clean towels, etc. in the room. SO, the policy states you will receive 500 extra SPG points for every night you decline housekeeping which to my thinking should be 4000 points. We received NO extra points. The only, and I want to stress only, people who made an effort to make us feel welcome were the bartenders and the gal who brought drinks etc. to the pool area. Not one other person. In fact, when we checked in, we felt about as welcome as a snake at a garden party. The person who checked us in acted as though because we did a SW vacation package we were the unwelcome relatives. I don't get it. When we checked out, there was no, did you have a nice stay, thank you for staying at the Westin, please come back again. Nothing, just handed my the list of additional charges which were for the "resort" fee which is a joke since that includes internet service which is pathetic. We were in Italy last year where they tell you ahead of time the internet is slow if you get it at all and it was better there. I could go on but I think you are understanding that we were very disappointed - this was so not what we expected staying at a place that was supposedly 4 stars........ April 4, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Hidden fees. I recently stayed at the Westin in Cape Coral. The hotel was originally condos and converted. The location was very nice and quiet and the marina was lovely, but I think that had a lot to do with the time of year and occupancy could not have been more than 20%. There were no more than maybe 15 people at the pool each day including us. Being a Starwood Gold member and Timeshare owner our rooms were supposed to be upgraded. My disappointment started when we checked into our rooms (2) I had asked for adjoining rooms and we were told that there were none available. Then our rooms were facing the canal side and not overlooking the pool or the marina. The beds were not the usual heavenly bed that I was looking forward to. There was no tub in the bathroom The carpet was dirty and lots of loose dirt and plastic and other items on the floor. On our way out to dinner I spoke to the front desk clerk and the Housekeeping manager was there. I told her about the condition of the room and she said that she would send someone up immediately to clean it. When we returned from dinner the carpet was minimally better and the same plastic stuff was still on the floor just moved to another area. I called again and they sent up a very nice young man who vacuumed and swept the floors. The carpets were extremely spotted and dirty and he did clean some of the spots with carpet cleaner. He mentioned that the past 2 weeks were spring break and they had to replace many of the carpets. Well, if that was the case they could have certainly found us better rooms with so few guests. They also did not have a club floor or club lounge. Very disappointed in my Starwood experience. What really topped it off was when I checked out and they added a 16.65/day Resort fee and 2.70 Tourism fee PER DAY on top of the room and tax fees. Would not recommend this hotel as a Starwood Property. April 28, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great, yet not so great This is our 2nd visit to the property in 8 months -- great proximity to the in-laws and SWFL is under-served by the major flags, so this was a natural choice. Website was not very clear that the "traditional" and "deluxe" rooms are 100% double beds only, so we were extremely disappointed in our room assignment -- cramped and staring at tree tops - compared to the upgrade to a 2 BR suite on a high floor on the marina side of our last visit. It took considerable effort to get the front desk to locate a better room -- an ADA 1BR at tree level! Fortunately, the next AM I spoke with James the Manager on Duty who recognized by 15 years as a gold or platinum member and arranged an upgrade to a vacant Mariner's suite. This was ABOVE and BEYOND our expectations. Incredibly spacious (plenty of room for the in-laws to come and to host a get together with our nephew an the 4 great grandchildren). KUDOS to James. Renee at the bar quickly learned our drink preferences and always seemed to have another round ready at just the right time. Room service was always prompt and the breakfasts well prepared and tasty. Dinner at Marker 92 featured great fresh seafood and sizeable portions. Pinchers Crab Shack down the street is great fun and amazing fresh seafood. The not so great.... HSKP came one day at an ungodly early hour. We asked that they come back at lunch. We returned at 3pm and the room was untouched. Another day they left a note saying they skipped us to honor our "DND" preference, but we never hung the sign nor made such a request. Was 4pm before they cleaned the room. The SPA was less than helpful. We had arranged massages one afternoon, but asked if we could do them in our suite to take advantage of the nice weather and spacious balcony. They said they would have to check "if any of the staff was willing to do this" Not sure where in the space/time continuum "work" was done at the employee's discretion. No one at the spa would deign to accommodate us, so we inquired with the concierge. The Westin Brochure in the room even touts "In room spa" as a brand standard program, but the concierge said she had no resources to arrange such a service and to call the spa. The day before I left a message with the concierge inquiring about boat tours/cruises for our family get together but received no call back and had to make my own arrangements. March 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect hotel for a getaway Some friends and I recently stayed at the Westin Cape Coral for spring break. (We wanted to avoid the typical spring break type of hotel.) This hotel exceeded all of our expectations. I am fairly familiar with Starwood's brands (I am actually studying hotel administration in college), so I had high expectations going into this vacation, and the staff at this Westin still surprised and delighted me. The reservations staff were helpful before I booked the room because they provided insightful and detailed information about the local area. The staff member who checked us in (his name was Remi, I believe) was polite, professional, and pleasant. Specifically, he gave us a corner room so that the balcony of our room had breathtaking views, which really added value to our experience. Throughout the entire week we were at the Westin, the staff were attentive and gave us all a wonderful break. We enjoyed the fact that the hotel is located in a tiny marina village away from the main hustle and bustle of Cape Coral and Fort Myers. It really made our vacation feel much more like a getaway, and really helped us relax from our stressful college lives. We also loved the scent that filled the hotel, specifically the front lobby. Returning to that scent after a busy day in town or a hot day at the beach was welcoming and comforting; we all looked forward to it every evening. The water taxi to Fort Myers Beach was fun and convenient. We only used it once, however, because the taxi returned to the hotel too early in the day for us. Nonetheless, the one day we used the water taxi was good. One improvement to our stay could have been the housekeeping services. Although I understand that cleaning a room that has three guys staying in it is neither pleasant nor easy, I nonetheless felt that the room cleanings could have been more thorough and attentive. For example, the second time our room was serviced, we returned to the room to find the towels haphazardly placed on the sink, the plastic cups not replaced, and the beds made rather hurriedly. However, this was not very detrimental to our satisfaction, only slightly irksome, so our stay at the Westin was still "excellent". I also discovered that this hotel has only been a Westin since December of 2012, so I absolutely must commend the staff on their talent and professionalism. I'm sure there are still operational kinks being worked out, but if there were, none that were obvious to me. Thank you so much for such a wonderful spring break. I will certainly recommend this hotel to my friends and family, and you can count on us returning if we find ourselves near Cape Coral again. March 24, 2013
