Rated 5 out of 5 by Imaj22 Nice hotel, great location!
This hotel was in a perfect location, close to many attractions. The food was good but pricey. The coffee service to your room was a great service they provided for free. The only problem i had was that the elevators where too small, slow and old! I walked the stairs up to my room which i did not mind but if you don't like walkng up and down the stairs a few times a day you may have a problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mevets29 This hotel was incredible
Despite the fact that we were there during the Bollywood awards, it was a crazy time for the hotel. However, the hotel staff treated us with great professionalism and care. We were so lucky to check in with Francesco and soon felt like we were long lost friends. In fact, we were always so happy to see him when we left or came back to the hotel. We strongly feel that he made our first time in Madrid one of the most memorable experiences ever. We did many things based on his recommendation and discovered Madrid in a completely different way. We want you to know how very lucky and grateful we are to Francesco and how wonderful the staff was as well. The hotel is in an incredible location, central to everything and within walking distance to so many sites to see. We love the hotel, staff, location and will always go back to this hotel.
Thanks Westin Madrid. You are awesome!

Rated 5 out of 5 by RG234 Amazing hotel, staff and cuisine
It is the people you meet and interact with during your travels that make it a remarkable experience. This was so true of our recent family trip to Spain. The first stop on a four city holiday was the capital, Madrid. Since I can speak Portuguese quite fluently and due to its similarity to Spanish, I thought I could practice the little Spanish I learned on Duolingo, while in Spain and fall back on Portuguese if I was stuck on vocabulary. Of course, it was delightful to be checked in by Alberto at the reception, who assured me that we would communicate in ‘Portugon’ which was his terminology of a successful mix of Portuguese and Spanish. Alberto was helpful, courteous and made our introduction to the Westin Palace absolutely amazing and of course, being able to communicate in a language understood by the locals (even Portugon) was indeed rewarding. The hotel itself is filled with old world charm and is conveniently located. We walked to every nook and cranny in Madrid without taking public transit. The excellent cuisine and the warmth of the staff at La Rotonda restaurant (and its beautiful dome) were so welcoming that we had almost every meal there. A special thanks to Manuel and the others who served us. We were indeed privileged to be able to partake of the 7-course gastronomic tribute to Cervantes – as we waited in quiet anticipation of the next course, it never failed to delight and surprise us. Cervantes was a truly amazing experience, one that none of us will forget for a long, long time. I would also like to mention that Alejandro, one of the concierges was pleasant and had some useful suggestions that we took to explore the city that is so unique, filled with history and has plenty to offer to tourists. Muchas gracias a todos …

Rated 5 out of 5 by Apecalvin Grand hotel!
The hotel is grand, especially its dining room with the famed stained glass dome. It is generally well maintained, although there are visible signs of age. We were given a nice suite using our suite night awards. Although centrally located, there isn't a whole lot going on in the immediate vicinity, except for the few lanes behind it, where you find some cafes and restaurants. However, Gran Via is a mere 10-minute walk away once you know your way around. Off Gran Via, you can wander into the charming Fuencarral or vibrant Puerta Del sol. Breakfast was generous in terms of variety as well as quality. As a Lifetime Platinum Guest, the Westin Experience Specialist team got in touch shortly after check-in. They agreed to moved me when I asked for a suite where I didn't have to stand in the bathtub to shower. They also sent me a bottle of cava as welcome/birthday gift, which was very thoughtful. All considered, I would stay here again. But next time, instead of a classical room, I think I would prefer a room with a modern decor

Since I have stayed at Westin properties in the past, I was looking forward to staying at this location. I was totally unhappy with this property. For the amount of money that I had spent, the room could have been bigger and better. When I stayed at this property in Rome the room was beautiful and spacious and I received a welcoming basket. Nothing from this hotel. There was nightly turn down in Rome nothing in Madrid. No slippers in your room although it is indicated on the website. Staff was not friendly. A total disappointment. In all the service was lousy. The front desk was not helping in booking the tours.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Gabe101 This property does not participate in all "global" Starwood Preferred Guest Promotions (
We stayed at property in Nov/Dec 2015 (4 nights). Pleasant experience. I'm declining to recommend this property because they did not participate in a global SPG "Stay More/Earn More" promotion running at the time which would have increased points 2X plus 500 pt bonus for staying more nights. I made it a point to mention at check-in and clerk indicated they are on SPG program so should be fine. Since there's not a mechanism for members to readily confirm participation, I feel it is fair to "ding" the property for opting out of promotions that are marketed as GLOBAL since they benefit from the reservation traffic that it creates.
