While most of Santiago's most frequently visited neighborhoods are easy to stroll through and navigate, the Metro is the most efficient, cleanest and quickest way to make tracks around the city. Its stations are also a sight to behold—with dazzling murals painted by Chile's most important artists, you're part of the city's celebrated art scene underground, to complement the visual spectacle above. Taxis are also a reasonably-priced and plentiful option, particularly since getting behind the wheel can literally be a foreign experience due to the unique and unconventional nature of local road rules, as well as scarce parking.

There's no better way to get to W Santiago from Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport (SCL) by taxi or airport shuttle, whisking you to our doorstep in just 20 to 45 minutes, depending on traffic. Otherwise, Whatever/Whenever® will also be pleased to take care of any of your transportation and transfer details.

  • For an equally convenient alternative, it's easy to hop onto one of the minivans provided by transfer shuttle services at $12 - $15 per one-way ride. Tickets are available at counters next to the airport exit.

  • Make it quick and easy for yourself by hopping into a taxi at one of the many gates at the airport exit, a $25 to $30 ride that takes just 20 minutes (up to 45 minutes during rush hour) to get to the hotel. Buy a taxi ride from the official counter in the airport next to the exit, to prevent over-charging and to ensure you're ferried by an official cab.

Getting Around

By City Rail System

  • The Metro's five lines comprehensively cover all areas of Santiago and are easy to navigate. There are two fares for both rush-hour period and the rest of the day, and we recommend you purchase a Multiviaje card if you intend on using the Metro more than once.

By Taxi

  • Taxis are easily identified by their black exteriors and yellow roofs—keep an eye out for the light in the corner of the windshield that displays their availability. Check that the meter is in plain view to avoid getting over-charged, and tips are not expected. Be careful to distinguish taxis from colectivos, local shared taxis with fixed routes that are similar in appearance but without the yellow roof.

By Foot

On Foot
  • Get set with a map, because city streets don't follow a grid system, and jet! All local attractions and neighborhoods most visited are situated along the Mapocho River, so use that as a point of reference for going places. While Saturday afternoons and Sundays are quieter times to visit areas such as downtown, it's just as fun to immerse yourself in the hustle and bustle of the city's everyday life.
