This hotel is not what you would expect considering the cost associated with staying there. First the door men and valet folks are terrible and considering it is fifty dollars per night that is not good. Everything at this hotel is way over priced for what you get. I really felt like I wasted my points. There are way nicer Senators.

Hotel is great, an older grand hotel, with a great W modern flair.
JG Dining Room and Rooftop - great.
Room was good, but carpet was dirty.
Am a platnimum member, was put at the back of the hotel, no view, 4th floor - woken by truck traffic in the morning. Not the greatest placement for SPG platinum member paying >$300 per night

Next time on work travel I will stay in a hotel that is not more concerned with being a nightclub than a hotel. Wonderful room, but inconsistent housekeeping and very high traffic because of the nightclub and bar upstairs. Daily wifi in the room costs $14.95 and you can only use it on one device at a time or you get booted.

For my birthday, I reserved space at the POV lounge which had started out to be a frustrating and what I was anticipating to be a bad experience; however, I have to say that the W Hotel staff professionalism, and courteousness helped to make my stay perfect. As an SPG member I believe I received the quality I expected from the W.

I was on the 9th floor and as a SPG member all was great with check in and reception, champagne until bedtime at 12m no less. Dance floor just above yelling people on our floor noisy until 230am. Then took shower in am and it leaked all over the floor :(
I would stay again as the people are so nice and the location is super!

You can't get better location than that in DC. Sadly, that's where the perks end. Our room was very small, even after receiving a so-called platinum upgrade. View of the Treasury building and White House was nice, from the tiny windows. Restaurant was not very good and breakfast service a bit chaotic.
The virtues of the rooftop bar were much extolled, but we found on our visit that despite the lovely views everything about the place (decor, staff, patrons and especially the music) was lame. The gym room while adequate was shoved in a lower ground floor which makes it dark and dingy.
Concierge was ok, but you couldn't get good recommendations out of them without a lot of digging around. Door staff were the highlight and they were running a tight ship, always cheerful and eager to help.
All in all a disappointment for this loyal fan of the W brand. Probably the worst yet, although I am ready to give it a second chance just in case my stay was not representative.

Upon check-in, I was offered an upgraded room, which happens often at this W. But this time it wasn't a real upgrade. The room overlooked the air shaft between buildings and was so dark I didn't realize what a sunny day awaited me.
Everything else in the hotel was great- like J&G Steakhouse and the staff is very helpful

This is a beautiful, histoic hotel that has been updated. Good location. Staff was very responsive to an adjacent room that was noisy. They followed up next day with ammentity that was very welcome. As an SPG member, I appreciate their knowledge of the benefits, esp upgrade. Thank you for making this a lovely weekend.

J&G was reopening and there was confusion over our reservations. Also - at this level I expect ammenities like cotton balls, etc. in the room. And I resent having everything in the room with a price tag - come on, you're charging me $5 for a bottle of water. No turn down. The experience didn't match the price.

The W DC is in a great location for site seeing and the staff is very accomodating. Some of the room layouts are strange (clothes closet in bathroom) but the rooms are nice. I did have a problem with phone reception on my mobile in my room as well as the wifi reception for my laptop.
Overall a great place to stay.

The hotel facilities and staff service were exceptional, the best I've ever experienced. even taking the initiative "May I help you turn off the lamp?" when I was sitting next to a flickering light and trying to turn it off. However, was visiting for a quiet get-away for my birthday and found my stay very uncomfortable. It was a Sat. night, the entire hotel (downstairs, upstairs, halfway down the block) was vibrating and booming until 2am with music and 20-somethings pushing, giggling and slamming doors. The toilet was very low to the floor (which was difficult with my post-surgery knee.) We stayed on the 10th floor, right under the roof-top band/lounge. The room and view were wonderful, but no-one ever warned us about the noise from the bar directly over our heads! The labeling of items was confusing. There was a small package next to the bed labeled "get your fix." I didn't bother with it (not knowing if it was breath mints or condoms) The next morning, I discovered it was ear plugs! I called the (only) number listed on the in-hotel spa brochure, only to find out the next morning that there was a charge for the phone call. Also, there were no instructions to connect to the wireless service. That cost 14.95 per day, but the internet help desk was a $2.00 charge, I was never informed of while making the call. So, the hotel was not for us. I did not find it comfortable, and won't recommend it to my friends. However, I will probably tell my 20-something children about it!

Overall the hotel was excellent and the staff was very nice.
One minor note the robe in my room was very very small, I am an average size man and wasn't able to get my arm into a sleeve.

Stayed here once last winter and wasn't able to take advantage of the whole hotel. This time I had lunch on the balcony and that view is stunning. I enjoyed an upgraded room due to being Platinum with a view of the White House. Nice dinner in the downstairs bar and great breakfast the morning I was leaving.

I've stayed at W Washington DC many times, but on this visit was upgraded to a Wow Suite. It was.... Wow! SPG can upgrade me to Wow anytime. It's a terrific space.
More important, though J&G Steakhouse was closed for renovation, in-room dining was served quickly and the food was superb.

We always stay at SPG branded hotels, and have stayed here before. The location is fabulous for taking in all that DC has to offer and has a great roof top bar POV with an amazing view! For the first time we used their car service to arrive at our wedding destination and that was nice!

A great hotel in an excellent position. The "Whatever Whenever" concierge mantra lives up to its name - a very dedicated team who aim to please. Only downside was the 'rock star' attitude of the door staff at Rooftop Bar "POV", otherwsie a great experience of a stylishly cool hotel.

Great location steps from the White House. Excellent service, award winning J&G steakhouse, chic remodel throughout. Best roof top view of DC with cool bar lounge for night time fun. New securiity, Hotel key card waved over sensor pad in elevator to activate & outside room to open door.

This is a lovely hotel - modern, very hip decor. Very comfy bed. However, it's tough to share the room. Shower wall IS the separation wall - if you turn on the light in the bathroom, you wake up your roommate. Same with using the sink - it's in the room, not the bathroom. TINY closet.

Having stayed at other W hotels I expected the modern decor and fun atmosphere, but I felt at the W Washington, the atmosphere and staff needed to remember guests still need to feel welcome and comfortable.
Lighting in the room was limited and made working or seeing oneself in the mirror difficult. The in-room sink also made the whole room feel like you were sleeping in a bathroom.
However, more disappointing to my stay was the service at what should be the jewel of the hotel - the patio bar, Staff were not attentive, waiting several minutes at a not that busy bar even to be acknowledged it not acceptable. And the policy of bottle service or $65 tab even for hotel guest is ridiculous. And the alternative of the lobby lounge was acceptable given you could not hear colleagues speaking over the loud singer.
We also came in the 15th street door and stuggled to get luggage in, we did not realize the bell service was at the other door, a sign on the door would have helped us or directed us around the corner.

From beginning to end a horrific property, dirty, nasty, dumb staff, no management, rooms are terrible, beds are the worst. I checked out immediately and this hotel lost me as an SPG member, I'm never staying at this brand again. Previous guests dirty underwear left in room, gross.

This hotel is amazing! We had a room with 2 queens and it was very spacious. Front desk staff were very friendly and the Acura experience was great! The beds were very comfy and we couldn't hear any noise at all! Would definitely stay here again! Our kids didn't want to leave!

Part of the reason my son and I stayed here was to enjoy the rooftop view. When making the reservation we were told how great it was. When we check in we find out it is rented for a private function. The lobby was a zoo and navigating the elevator was terrible. NEVER AGAIN.

Loved the hotel and the staff. We were upgraded to a Suite, but it was right under the night club. On Fri and Sat they went until 2 am...then they seemed to move furniture up there starting at 4 am...so i am a bit disappointed in the use of my upgrade and points and money...

I am a frequent business traveler and SPG member for many years. I would never stay here again nor recommend this hotel to anyone. It is definitely not on a par with other hotels. Decor cheap and garish. Halls painted black, dark, elevators slow. Room had filthy carpet, Bath very poor design and dirty; toilet with black mold under rim. Shower door design allows water to leak out all over floor. Bathroom door does not shut completely by design; no privacy. Only 6 hangars in the closet. Electrical outlets inconvenient; room not tech friendly. No coffeepot. Definitely not worth price despite location and rooftop view. This was for a special event; our son received an award at the Pentagon Friday. He had a choice between the W and another excellent hotel close by. We all wish that we had not stayed at the W and chosen the other. We will also be informing the govenment travel agent of our diappointment. Also asking questions in sections 3,5, in this survey that are redundant. You have information in the confirmation.

The staff at the W were great every step of the way. They got us a reservation at P.O.V and brought us champagne, my husband worked with them to have flowers delivered to our room, and they upgraded our room. We will recommend the room to our guests and friends.
