Rated 4 out of 5 by Always a great time! We have used the W at The Foshay a number of times for weekend getaways in Minneapolis. We love having drinks at Prohibition at the top of the property and hanging out in The Living Room lounge near the lobby. Manny's Steakhouse offers a great dinner option and Keys restaurant is our favorite breakfast spot. We look at the property as a hotel, bar and restaurant all wrapped in to one. If you are visiting Minneapolis on a cold winter weekend you won't have to leave the property!. The rooms we've stayed in have been smallish but clean. Bathrooms are spacious. We love the Art Deco vibe of the hotel. The W at The Foshay has always met our needs and expectation although we think it may better serve weekend getaway travelers more than hard core business travelers. February 12, 2012

Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Experience First time at this hotel. Will definitely return in the future. The staff was welcoming and informative. The hotel rooms clean and nicely appointed. The bar and lounge are fun and intimate at the same time. We have stayed at 4-5 downtown Minneapolis hotels over the past couple years ... this was our best experience to date. June 23, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Doesn't live up to my previous W experiences. I have stayed in 6 or more W Hotels and this one did not live up to the name. My upgrade was hardly an upgrade. I would have rather saved my upgrades and stayed in a standard room. The room was tired and needs to be refreshed. The floor plan was terrible and in fact I didn't even use half of the room. My room had windows the size of postage stamps. Power outlets were hard to find, even at the desk. The fitness center was not much to speak of with no windows and boring grey walls. It felt like a prison cell. The staff was not too accommodating. In fact the waiter at The Prohibition gave us a piece of his mind when we entered the bar at 5:03pm (opens at 5). The only good experience I had was the room service delivery staff was very friendly as well as the doorman. I hope this is not the direction in which all W Hotels are headed. I will not be staying here again. March 5, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Was I really staying at a W? Upon entering, I was quite pleased with the Lounge/Lobby but my displeaure started when entering the Fantastic suite -2801. The carpet was dirty; there were numerous smudges on the side table and couch; the bed looked liked someone was just on it and there were numerous runs/tears on the duvet making it looked so not inviting; the lamp fixture had indentions all over it ; and water pressure from the sink / rain shower were consistently low --turned off during mid shower. Rated 5 out of 5 by Englund in town We were warmly greeted by valet upon our arrival and the front desk staff members were highly accommodating to our needs. A generous upgrade was extended so that we would have ample space for a roll away. The room was fresh and clean and exceeded our expectations. Thank you for a great weekend as we were seeing our son off the Army. We will return to the W Hotel the next time we are in Minneapolis. January 7, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great W Property I stay at many properties, and I always pick the W brand if there is one around. The W Foshay is definitely one of the nicer hotels. With that being said, it is not because of the aesthetic - but because of the people. From the Valet, to Ryan at Check-In, to Room Service Personnel, the entire experience was consistent and amazing. Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic Customer Service The rooms at the W Foshay are of course very nice and the beds are the best, but the reason I will continue to return is the service. From the md oment I pulled up at the valet stand, I was treated with respect and courtesy. Each person who was a part of my stay went out of their way to make sure that I had everything I needed to enjoy my stay! I would highly recommend it! August 7, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Overall great stay We had a "cool corner" room and it was quite spacious and cozy with great views of downtown. The bed was very comfortable to the point that me and my partner almost felt like we had separate beds when we wanted to sleep apart, yet still have comfort when we were close. The shower had one of those great rain heads that felt amazing. Only drawback would be the internet is a bit pricey for one day sitting at $12.95. Definitely understand they need to pay for it but maybe there could be an option to get a free or low price lower speed internet and then still charge that higher price for a high speed internet. Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful, clean rooms! My boyfriend and I stayed at the W Hotel in the Foshay Tower for his birthday. It was my first time staying at this hotel. When we arrived, we were in a hurry to make a reservation time, and I was pleased that the valet was immediate and the staff at the front desk was very friendly, and super quick at checking us in. When we got to the room, I was amazed by the cleanliness and overall look of the room. The bathroom was spacious with many complementary, high quality toiletries for our convenience. The modern decor was fun yet comfortable. We were on the 19th floor so we had a breathtaking view of the city at night. We had a fun night out on the town and then returned to the lounge downstairs for some cocktails and dancing! At the end of a fun yet long night, we climbed into the most comfortable bed I have ever had the pleasure of sleeping in. I couldn't have been more pleased with the staff, the room, and the accomodations at the W Hotel. Thank you for a wonderful evening!! February 16, 2012

Rated 2 out of 5 by Eh; not impressed for the price To be honest, I will probably not be coming to The Foshay when I travel to Minneapolis in the future. Since I traveled to Minneapolis on business and I traveled with a few colleagues, I didn’t want to raise any issues when I stayed at your hotel as there were a few of us on the trip. My room was close to the elevator and it was so loud that I was awakened multiple times through the night when the elevator was in use and when on back to back nights a few intoxicated folks got off on my floor, it was extremely loud. On the second night, a maintenance guy came to my room around dinner time and told me that he needed to change the lock/handle on my door. So, for a ½ hour I had to sit there while he had my door open, completing the work (why did he not wait until I left for the evening). Also, the heater/AC in my room took an hour (or so it seemed) to begin to work. As for the front desk staff, they were very polite and courteous so there were no issues there. I went away from Starwood properties over the past year as I travel frequently and this stay did not change my impression of the Starwood property chain(s). December 7, 2011

Rated 3 out of 5 by Great service with OK rooms I stayed in the W Forshay hotel for 2 weeks at the end of May for work. The service was wonderful; I always had prompt responses to any requests, the room order was always delicious, and one front desk employee even went out of her way to help me when they were working on fixing the hot water and I really needed to take a shower. I would recommend the W for people who want a great service experience. That said, I didn't feel like the rooms were that great, especially for the high price point. There were no (easily available) outlets next to the bed for charging phones. Both of the rooms I stayed in had one broken lamp. There was very little (if any) overhead lighting outside of the bathroom, so it makes working in the evenings challenging. This is likely a result of the "swanky" feel the W chain is going for, and it certainly doesn't reflect on the people who work there and the service you receive. But overall, the rooms were just a tad inconveniently designed for the prices they charge. But it is centrally located, surrounded by many good restaurants and just a couple of blocks away from Nicollet Avenue. The hotel even has an entrance into the Skyway, so it'll be super convenient in the winter. June 14, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Very disappointed The bathroom only had hot water. The toilet flushed extremely slow. There was absolutely no coffee to be had in the morning. The room was small and stiff. They fooled you into thinking water was free and then charged $12.00. Very very disappointed. Not worth the money. June 9, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very Trendy Place The W was very pretty. The decor in the lounge and in the rooms was really nice. However, the sink is not very functional, I had to be extra careful when brushing my teeth not to get splash back. Also, the bathroom windows were really big and housekeeping would open the shade every day when they were cleaning up. Therefore, you had to remember to pull it down when you sleepily enter the bathroom in the morning. The fitness center equipment could have been a little better. The medicine balls were cracked and the touchscreens on the treadmills were not responsive at all. It took almost three minutes to adjust the treadmill to 5 mph. March 16, 2013

Rated 2 out of 5 by Wouldn't come back Arrived late on Sunday and at first was very pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to Fantastic Suite on 28th Floor. That was until I got there. There were some party decorations on the bathroom ceiling. Called whatever/whenever and was told it must have been overlooked. If you overlook big plastic pieces hanging from the ceiling it makes me wonder what else is overlooked during cleaning. Went out for dinner and the decorations were gone. No word of apology. Decided to soak in the tub but noticed there was no bubble bath product which I did have at my previous stay. Also the scale wasn't working. Called whatever/whenever, they said someone would bring a scale and bath products right away. Took about 20 minutes, and received just shampoo and conditioner, so no bubble bath for me. The featherbed wasn't attached to the mattress, so I ended up doing the bed myself before sleep. In the morning I was going to use the Platinum breakfast. What a disappointment for a hotel like W. It is a choice of two stale muffins, two cups of cereal and some juice served on a dirty bar at Manny's. There was no staff there to give the ticket to. The ticket said there should be yogurt too but that was nowhere to be seen. This was by far the worse breakfast experience I have ever had at a Starwood property world wide. The W Foshay Minneapolis wins the biggest Platinum breakfast flop. I went back and turned my ticket in to the front desk for the points amenity rather than the insult of a breakfast they serve. Given the issues with the suite I would have preferred to just receive the room I booked as long as I don't have to spend half hour cleaning the place I paid for. I am a platinum member and I can say that I will not be back at this property. As to other platinums I'd suggest you stay at some of the other Starwood properties in town as you will get a lot better treatment than this want to be luxurious hotel with a shameful breakfast and sloppy housekeeping. Rated 4 out of 5 by Mixed feelings on hotel. The hotel room and lobby were very appealing, albeit, very dark - probably to a sexy vibe, but it was almost too dark. Secondly, on weekend nights, the main floor lounge turns into a night club w/ a DJ and bouncer, roped lines. Also, there's a bar on the top floor, which uses same elevator as the hotel room floors. I was a little concerned when I saw bar patrons getting off on hotel room floors just for the fun of it - wandering the halls of the hotel room floors. I was nervous when I was followed off the elevator, when I knew they didn't have a room on that floor. I didn't want to pull out my room key and open my room door; it was an uncomfortable situation for a single woman. March 24, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by In hot water, or not.... My recent stay at the W Minneapolis was very disappointing since there was no hot water on the second/final morning I was there. After waking, I worked out in the hotel's gym (clean but small and limited). You can imagine my surprise when I went to hop in the shower and had only late spring Minneapolis ice water flowing from the shower head. I called reception and they said it was a hotel wide issue and I could use the Y down the street. Since I was in a hurry, I did not have time to do so and took the polar plunge. On the plus side, the room on bed were comfortable and I had a great cheeseburger from room service. It was delivered vwery quickly. All staff at the hotel were pleasant and professional. On the negative side, in addition to no hot water, there was a loud group in the hallway making tons of noise in the middle of the night and the wifi is slow. To stay there again, I would want reassurance that the water issue is not a recurring problem. The starpoints the hotel provided did not seem like adequate compensation for the problem, but that is a separate matter. June 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect kick off to our honeymoon! We had an overnight layover in MN on our way to our honeymoon. We were lucky enough to stay in The Foshay and had an incredible experience. It was our first time staying with Starwood Hotels, and we will absolutely stick with this brand. They made us feel special and like they sincerely cared about our honeymoon! The concierge went above and beyond to set us up with a driver for the evening and reservations at his favorite restaurant. We loved his suggestions and had a great night in the city. The hotel is impeccable, the decor was exactly what I expected from a W Hotel. My ONLY complaint is we had an early flight and coffee wasn't available until 6am and no coffee in the room. Other than that, the stay was absolutely perfect. May 1, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by MY BIRTHDAY STAY! A truly wonderful birthday stay. Got a birthday cake from the staff who are more like family. Was upgraded to a beautiful suite. Ate my birthday dinner at Manny's. Try the fillet mignon its amazing. I would like to thank James, Lisa, DJ and all the other staff at the W for making my stay the best. I would also like to thank the engineering and Housekeeping staff for working very hard and doing a great job. The living room was fabulous and I would like to thank Jasmine for the best service ever. OVERALL: Fabulous Stay as usual. I recommend this hotel without reservation and will ALWAYS come back here for years to come. October 15, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Mixed experience Excellent room. Manny''s was outstanding for multiple meals and cocktails. Good location. Service was not at top level. Eg *. Upon arrival, multiple doormen were present and none offered to help us w luggage *. Text to valet park worked 2 of 3 times. One was lost * housekeeping was spotty. Housekeeper placed dirty glasses on the carpet just outside of our room that stayed for days. Turndown included new towels but no straightening of the room. * reservation had 3 different room rates. That was fine. But, this generated 3 confirms and 3 checkout emails which confused the front desk and us. Eg. We received 3 surveys via email. Poor coordination across the system. August 13, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Hotel in Minneapolis The W Foshay is by far our favorite property in the Twin Cities. It' a great property with a cool history. The staff was exceptional. When we failed to answer our wake up call, they sent a staff member to our door as a back up. Great! Manny's is our fav steakhouse -- and it's located onsite. Best of all they really know how to treat their Platinum Guests. No hassle for suite upgrade. May 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Enchanting experience My boyfriend and I wanted a romantic evening together and he decided to get us a room at the Foshay. We were both blown away by the experience. Everyone and everything exceeded our expectations. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The room was magnificent and had a spectacular view. You can order food at any time of the day and it is absolutely delicious. The front desk called us in the morning to warn us of the current weather conditions which was nice to know before making plans for the day. We loved our experience so much we decided to stay another night. I highly recommend this hotel for your next stay. February 23, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great place Had nice bday here, loved the hotel and would come again one day. Would have been better if breakfast was included and if their was complimentary wifi in your room. Instead you have to walk down to the steak house and use wifi or wifi in cafe. Who wants to go 20 floors down or 27 floors down to do that. Everything you had to buy was very costly, even to park in all ramps. Every time you leave and come back it charges you $5 and $10. The Acura experience would be better if it dropped you off we're you wanted to go and picked you up, but you can only get dropped off one of the desk people told me. Over all it was a good experience. Should of had a pool and jacuzzi also. September 17, 2013
