The hotel is in a great location and sadly thats the only nice thing I can say about my stay. After being ignored at check in for over 10 minutes, I was handed a key to a room. Upon entering the room, it was obvious from the strewn trash and the unflushed toilet full of urine that the room had not been cleaned. Upon contacting the front desk, I was given a different room. The remainder of my stay I noticed an overall lack of cleanliness with the hallways only cleaned intermittently. I was at the lobby of the hotel when it began to down pour, I asked the concierge if we may borrow an umbrella to which he responded there is one for purchase in your room. Not what I would expect from an SPG hotel of this standard. At check out, I was once again left standing by an empty reception area for someone to arrive. I mentioned it to the concierge that was within eyesight of my location and all he could say was that someone will be with you. Another 10 minutes passed and no one arrived, I asked the concierge if he may actually call on someone to help the ever growing line of people to which he got off his personal cell phone and called someone. Will not stay here again, travelers beware.

The heat was not functioning in the room for the entire trip- we contacted whenever/wherever and they told us engineering did not feel it was appropriate to turn on conventional heat when it was 56 degrees during the day. I dont understand how the W in Chicago does not have individualized HVAC per room...breakfast was also the worst ive had at a W ever.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Deepsnow "Wonderful Room" Way too small
I was surprised at the size of the "Wonderful" room, it was a corner room with barley enough room to get past the king sized bed. The bathroom & vanity was smaller than the one in my camping trailer! Also, the "courtyard view" was of the rooftop of the hotel lobby.
Service and cleanliness were great, however I would have expected more from the room...

I was a little disappointed on this stay.
The staff was excellent as always.
However, my room was almost directly on top of the EL and therefore was quite noisy all night long. I expect a little better as a Platinum member. Also, the air conditioner made a racket when it was on. So, I had to turn it off in order to try to go to sleep.

My room at the W reminded me of a non-upgraded stateroom on a cruise ship. The bathroom was so tiny as to be almost unusable. I book hotel rooms for 3 executives and recommend hotels to our customers for events. After staying at this hotel I can no longer recommend this hotel nor will I be booking W hotels world wide for my team.

Even though the room was small it was very comfortable and clean. Normally I toss and turn when trying to go to sleep in a hotel,but at the W it was so comfortable that I immediately fell asleep.

First time visit, good location, arrived late so not sure how full the hotel was. Got one of tiniest rooms in a long time, and one that was facing the subway tracks so every few minutes heard the sound of the subway coming by. OK maybe we are spoiled as Platinum guests but believe the hotel could have done better.

W - Chicago City Center staff was excellent. My very early check-in was handled nicely. The bartender was knowledgeable and very friendly.
Be warned: The elevators are a little on the strange side.
The room met with my expectations. I do however, prefer a walk-in shower.
Overall: I will be staying here again.

I just have to say Thank You to Eden (My W Concierge), She went the extra “Magnificent Mile” to ensure our stay was a perfect 10!!
She provided wonderful suggestions on things to do…The Architectural Cocktail Tour she set up was amazing!!!...We will defiantly be back because of her!!!! We loved the W hotel!!

The W is so beautiful and smells amazing. I could always spot the hotel from down the street, the building is lit up in purple. I thought the staff was super friendly except the front desk personnel. They were cold and lacked personality (very blank face). Other than that my stay was great :) Thanks W Hotel

I enjoyed my 1-night stay at the W. Would have appreciated a coffee maker in the room. I realize the dim lighting serves a purpose in terms of ambiance, but it was a bit problematic for me.

The staff was extremely friendly from the car valets to my room service waiter. Bill at the Front Desk (I think that was his name) was great: very efficient with the check-in and very willing to answer my questions. My room was great, and the bed was extremely comfy.

This hotel is in a great location and service was impeccable. However, I was a bit disappointed in the small rooms. My room basically looked into a brick courtyard. Also no pool. I should have verified before booking, but assumed from staying at other W hotels that a pool is standard.

This is the second time I have stayed at this location. I live in LA and travel through Chicago a few times a year and make a point to stay here. Super clean, amazing enviroment, awesome rooms, andd super friendly employees. Thank you for such a great experience. You never let me down.

very loud lobby - you cannot have a decent conversation above the music
room service was OK, although missed one of my orders completely. limited menu.
wanted service rather than a 500 point credit, but didn't get service so had to choice but to get the points.

I didn't get his name but the "stylist" who came to touch up the room was very funny and cordial. He gave us information about where to hang out on our little zip trip to Chicago. The entire staff makes you fell like the most important person in the building. I love it!!!!

W Chicago City Center is a very unique hotel. The staff is outstanding - very friendly and extremely helpful. The "Whatever, Whenever" service is something you won't experience anywhere else. Stay here if you are looking for something different from the norm.

This is one of the most beautiful Ws. The service was excellent, especially in the lobby where serves took care of us even though we weren't in either bar. Was disappointed by lack of upgrade on a slow Thursday, but otherwise a fantastic night in Chicago.

W Chicago has a great concierge team. They introduced me to a slew of great food and activities in the Chicago area and even mapped out a good doable tour of the city (since I only had my weekends to do so). Thanks for being my tripadvisor during my stay.

I have no complaint. From the time I walked through the door check-in. Great experience very helpful during my stay. The room was small and could have been bigger but I made it work out for my stay.

I really adore the staff here, but my room was substandard with a bathtub falling apart. The staff did everything they could and responded to what they could respond to. They remember me every time I come and I really think they are top notch.

Great location - close to Union Station, Willis Tower, Art History Museum and public transportation. Stayed in a suite and the room was VERY loud! Could hear the EL running all night and early morning! Needs better sound insolation

This W has a gr8 location but room was small and noisy. Just an old, converted apt bldg or hotel. First room had no wi-FI service but staff was very good about moving me at 2:00 am. Good bar scene, especially for early in the week.

Very nice hotel in financial district - very quiet part of town on weekends - many businesses/restaurants open weekdays only. Superb concierge service! "Wonderful" room indeed wonderful. Exceptionally helpful and friendly staff.

The hotel met all the basic requirements I expect out of a hotel, but overall the W City Center is a dated hotel that doesn't compare to the other W hotel branches and especially the other hotels in the city for the same value.

I've stayed at this hotel few times. High quality facility meeting all expectations. Rooms look brand new and stylish.
However, you need to be careful about room selection. Rooms facing the L (train) tend to get very noisy.
