Rated 4 out of 5 by Great location The hotel is starting to look a little run down and from an eating perspective, choices are too limited. We know that parking is expensive all over SF, but $60 per night to park a car just seems a bit excessive. Staff was great and we received some nice notes and gifts from hotel during stay. Rated 4 out of 5 by Beautiful, modern hotel The location and accommodations here were excellent -- my daughter and I were able to watch the New Year's Eve fireworks from our large window (complete with window seat!) and we loved the stylish furniture as well as the foot massager under the desk. Other perks included the small gift given to my daughter at check-in and a bottle of champagne for New Year's. I was somewhat surprised that there wasn't a kettle in the room, although Whatever/Whenever promptly brought one upon request (I like to have hot beverages throughout the day.) I didn't expect there to be as many scuffed and scratched areas as there were (in the bathroom, on the cabinets, etc.) But my biggest disappointment was that the hotel charges $14,95 a day for basic in-room internet. That is astounding when you consider that virtually all other hotels (including budget hotels) provide free WiFi. To her credit, the guest service agent checking me out removed the charge when I questioned it, but this fee seems to be unnecessarily petty of the W. January 2, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointed This is our first night at the hotel, another three nights to go. We are disappointed already. This hotel is not family (ESP kids) friendly. The front desk staff is not friendly. The bed size is too small, the bath tub is not clean...... Not recommend for family holiday stay November 30, 2013

Staff were very friendly and helpful with everything. The South of Market location close to Union Square, MOMA and nightlife is also very convenient. November 25, 2013

The rooms were stylish and comfortable, the view out my window was great, the proximity to shopping and sites was perfect, and the hotel staff members were very friendly, helpful and intuitive to the guests needs. Rated 3 out of 5 by OK place ... look at other properties, first Bliss spa was terrible !! We also had hot water issues and on one day had not hot water at all !! A comped movie doesn't make up for not being able to have a shower ! Bar staff is not consistent with drinks. Hotel feels a bit dated. January 2, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by W San Francisco - Too much construction When booking this hotel via spg site there was not an indication of the construction that was happening around the hotel or at the property. Due to this, the experience in Downtown San Francisco was very challenging. The make shift gym was in a small space covered with white tent. Condition was crammed, and very sub par to W/Starwood standards. Construction around the property while it is out of your control, it would have been better to receive notice about this. At minimum recommend it being reflected in the room rates for guest. The staff on site was very understanding to help accommodate a room change immediately. Our original room was very dark due and look directly into the construction zone. Fortunately staff helped improve our location which we appreciated very muhc. June 25, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by W=Wow Had a great 5 days at the W. Any question and just about any request was greeted warmly and quickly. This hotel is ultra hip and mostly quite young. Trace restaurant has great food and concept, however service was a bit slow on Sunday for their "Brunch". July 7, 2013

Rated 3 out of 5 by Dog issues First time at a W hotel. Disappointed as there was a barking dog next door. Also when I asked for herbal tea to go with Keurig machine, we were delivered caffeinated teas and one decaf Lipton (ugh) tea bag. Probably will not return. November 30, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Terrible customer service experience The main issue was that they didn't check us in until 4:30pm, were not particularly apologetic and made no effort to try and reduce the inconvenience this caused. I've stayed in every starwood hotel in SF and the W has the worst service. August 1, 2012

Rated 4 out of 5 by Lives up to W expectations I like this W, I really do. Via Platinum status, I've been spoiled over the past few years with some pretty sick upgrades (on a consistent basis). I didn't get much of an upgrade here, but that didn't stop me from seeing value in this property. I was also really disappointed that my Suite Night Awards didn't go through--as I saved them specifically for this stay. Location: central to lots in SF proper. If you don't know the area well, this is a good point to base yourself (to be able to explore). Be sure to take advantage of the free Acura service (they take you TO, but not pick you up). We were in a Cool Corner Room. Decent views. Impeccably clean. Great Asian-inspired design with some fun features. Was surprised to see a normal old school tub (no walk in shower). Comfy W bed. Cool seating area (invoking a Bay Window, I'm guessing?). Great service, of course. We had bikes and they took care of them with no fuss (and for free). The Living Room is hip (and often hopping) (HA). Lots of OOONCE OOOONCE, especially on weekends and late nights. As always, the Bliss products are heavenly. July 10, 2012

Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing hotel, fabulous service I've stayed at the W SF several times now, and each time has been spectacular. The facilities are modern and clean, the staff is incredibly helpful, and the food is terrific. This last time, Vik (the manager on call) was especially great and gave me a complimentary upgrade to an Extreme Wow Suite. July 5, 2014
