Rated 5 out of 5 by kingdevine Oh So Fab!
Came there with my husband and two small children, we were a bit worried with the kids but the staff made us very comfortable. We slept in for the first time in ages, the beds and pillows were very comfy. The room & bathroom was exceptionally clean (I'm a clean freak). The bliss products in the bathroom were like the cherry on top. Y'all think of everything! Love the hotel and will be returning again and again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Rasptrp98 Needs a line/ aisle at registration
No doubt the hotel is spectacular but I think one con-needs an aisle /line at registration indicating spg/ non-spg members so that registering guest will know if people in the lobby(considering the space ) are just standing/hanging out or really waiting in line..had a bad experience this weekend during the SF pride with one guest...I would have given it a 5star if that incident didn't happened..

My room was not as expected for an SPG hotel. The floor had a large stain on the carpet and the shower had mildew between the tiles.
Also my room was not cleaned until I returned at 5PM and asked for it to be done.
The staff as always is great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by weekender doesn't feel like W hotel.
I have always loved W hotel, but this one really does not meet the standard of W hotel.
The hotel is very small and very crowded. stayed with my husband this past weekend, the first day they only give us one small bottle of shampoo, I have to call to ask for additional, 2nd they gave us two conditioners but no shampoo, I waited for 15 minutes, finally they brought it up. when I got out of shower i found out they did not give us any bath towel, I had to use hand towel to dry myself. When I call to ask them for bath towel for my husband, it took them another 15 minutes, don't remember if they even apologized.
Sat evening we went back to the hotel with friends for a drink, all the table were either reserved or roped off for opening bottle only, they have all the table open but hotel guest has no place to sit. we end up had one quick drink and went back to the room.

Rated 3 out of 5 by FreqTravler1 Great for some but not me
I think this hotel might be better if you are single and used to a smaller condo or apartment with IKEA furniture - furnishings looked like moderately priced IKEA items. For me it fell short of my expectations for the price.
I also thought the New Years event party was sub-par, It was not very exclusive / packed. It was difficult to get drinks and the one's ordered were very poorly put together.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Spg11 Treated like a rock star
Everything from valet parking to check-out was handled so smoothly. The entire staff I encountered treated me like I was someone special, from the valet to room service. We were given a room on the 30th floor with a spectacular view of the Bay Bridge. Whatever Whenever truly means whatever whenever -- I needed a razor, bam! We opted for a "green" stay, but when I requested more towels, bam! The bartender did not make me feel awkward or uncomfortable when I cashed in my drink coupons that came with the parking package I signed up for. My only disappointment came with the pool/spa..I was excited about an indoor pool, hoping to do some laps, but it was freezing. As was the entire pool area. It was also freezing in the spa, and no one seemed to know how to work the amenities, such as the steam room or sauna..the only place to get warmth was if you used the blow dryer..this made me especially sad, because I treated my friend to a very expensive treatment, and she was not able to enjoy fully because of the cold. Expected more from a Bliss spa. Also didn't appreciate the pushing of products at the spa. Too "salesy" ...I loved the proximity of the hotel to all things fun-- we walked over to Metreon to see movies and grab a quick bite. Peet's Coffee was fabulous right down 3rd Street, and we cable-carred back from Fisherman's Wharf to Powell and Market, and had a short walk back to hotel.
Overall, I LOVE this hotel and would stay there again. And again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by djnaka Great location & views, but expensive parking
W Hotel in San Francisco offers some amazing views from the room of the Bay Bridge. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated. The lobby has recently been redone and is much brighter than previously.
Pros: Location is great - 10 min walk to Union square, restaurants and nightlife. Great service, with friendly and attentive staff.
Cons: Parking is extremely expensive (over $50 overnight)

But staff totally dropped the ball on a delivery. Messenger left a package I was expecting prior to my arrival. I asked for it when I checked in but was told it wasn't there. Checked again with the front desk after I return from dinner but was told nothing was logged. When I checked out after two nights, the front desk clerk handed me the package which she said had been there for two days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CC22 Great service and good location
We go to SF for weekend getaways, and this was one of our best stays so far. We were upgraded to a higher floor, and the kids enjoyed the view very much. They spent most of the time sitting by the window. Staff was friendly, and service was great from valet, to the front desk, to room service. I like that the hotel is a walking distance to Union Square. We will definitely go back again.

Although we did like the hotel we felt the staff was really not all that friendly other than the bellman or valet's.(which they needed more help) No one mentioned SPG nor was there a desk for SPG preferred guests. Being a part of this program we expected a bit better service. We did like how the rooms connected, very nice for families traveling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by gypsy101 Excellent experience in every way!
The staff was friendly and warm, which is sometimes hard to come by in high end hotels. Everything was clean, comfortable and cozy. Even the bed met my fiance's standards which almost never happens! We also had an awesome view of the city from our room which was an added bonus. I would definitely recommend the W hotel to anyone who wants to have an enjoyable stay in San Francisco.

This was the worst W experience for me. Bathroom was dirty, blood on the curtain and walls and sink did not drain. I called and requested the sink fixed, received a message indicating that it was corrected, however; still did not drain.

Rated 3 out of 5 by RMR1234 Great location - poor service
Needed a rental car, so called concierge in the afternoon. Left a message. Never heard back. Upon returning from dinner, stopped by desk and asked to speak to someone regarding a rental car. Was told concierge was on break, but I would hear shortly. Concierge called to say she would arrange call first thing in the morning and call me by 8am. Left room at 900 am with no call.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Atois408 Full disclosure.
Only complaint was the matter which I was quoted the price of the room. I was told via phone it would be $289 with my federal employee discount. After the $40 "hotel fee," parking, and god knows what other misc charges, it came out to $433! I would have never agreed to get those rooms for at that rate.
With that said, the hotel is beautiful and the staff are very accommodating.

Rated 4 out of 5 by SF86969 Fabulous Stay-Cation
We booked a one-night stay for a local stay-cation, and extended our visit a second night. Claudia at the front desk helped us with our request, and kept me informed of the status while I was at work. We were able to stay in our fabulous corner room without having to move. Bliss spa was wonderful. We intend to stay at this W again for a monthly or bi-monthly local stay-cation.

We wanted a celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary locally and we had a great experience at the W.
Mark ensured we felt welcomed and Lina ensured we had a wonderful celebration dinner at the Trace. The corner room with a view was nice and the location of the W was within walking distance to many great places. The service from check-in through check-out was excellent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Nunya1234 Amazing Service!
The W San Francisco is what you would expect from the W brand....great location, great product. The service at this W however is above the "normal" expectation...from the moment I walked in the door to the time I left, I felt like a true guest! There is not one staff person who stood out, as everyone was incredibly pleasant and helpful!
I definitely would return!

Rated 5 out of 5 by santri1969 Good W experience with SF downtown attractions
Good location, staff, bar but tiny rooms. Walking access to most downtown attractions, bars, restaurants and nighlife. Not much SPG recognition or upgrades though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Nancy Great hotel
Had a great weekend stay at the W San Fran. The staff was pleasant and helpful when asking for restaurant suggestions. The room was great except for this color changing Buddha in the room. Not sure if it was meant to be a night light but I couldn't figure out how to turn it off and too lazy to call and ask how to do it. I would definitely stay there again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by SFtraveller Smells
The hotel overuses the "W' scent, rather than smelling clean it just smells. I had an issue with my first room because it was SO heavily scented, I actually had trouble breathing. The gentleman at Wherever - whenever basically told me to live with it - all the rooms were like that. The evening manager however had a better attitude. He showed me another room that was not so overly scented. He also gave me fan and an ozone machine: however the hotel called me three times in the middle of the night looking for the machine and fan: 11pm, 11:30 pm and 1am. YES: 1 am, that was uncalled for. Overall the new room was comfortabel but it was not what I would call clean: the mattress cover had stains all over it. I had it removed: the houskeeping staff that came in to remake the bed were WONDERFUL and for that reason I have the hotel three stars. The location was ideal and I would give it another try. Also, the bar/restaurant were superb.

Rated 5 out of 5 by WeeklyVisitor Excellent personalized service
Prior to arrival, I wrote to the hotel manager asking for a room to be ready at 8:30am. He promptly responded saying that the hotel is sold out the night before, but that he would prioritize my request and have a room rush cleaned in the morning. When I arrived, the check in clerk informed me that my upgraded room wasn't ready yet, but they can give me another room to relax in while my room was prepared. This accommodation is above and beyond the typical "you can leave your bags and we'll call you when your room is ready". Not only did they offer me a temporary room, but they also offered to move my luggage to my new room once it was ready (which is just what they did while I was out at my meetings). While I was talking with the clerk, the hotel manager stopped by and introduced himself to me, adding to the personalization of my welcome.
The service was impeccable and the room was great. I look forward to my next W San Francisco visit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by TravelinKen Newer Hotel - Very popular
I have been to this property before and sometimes I love it and sometimes not so much. The property is the newer of the SPG hotels in the area and a little further from the MUNI on Market St but the hotel feels new and is well maintained. I enjoy the corner rooms at this hotel. The staff are friendly and the lobby is always busy.

The decor is fresh with an upbeat party vibe yet when ready to chill kick it by the fire. The rooms are an extension of the main theme with all the amentities to entertain with great selection of alcohol. Yet again, when ready to chill, the beds are comfortable and inviting. Overall, this is a great change from the norm - will staty here again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by hiker Didn't live up to their promise.
They promised a room with a view on a high floor. We arrived early and since my husband is in a wheelchair it is kind of clear that jetlagged travellers don't want to be told that a room will be ready in 2 hours, and then no room is available. ...Very disappointed, since we stayed several nights and booked the room months in advance.

Rated 4 out of 5 by TravelinKen Modern and New
I have stayed at the other SPG hotels in the area and this is certainly the newest and most modern. I receved a corner room which was great with lots of windows. The decor wasn't exactly to my taste but everything was comfortable and I would certainly stay here again. It's conveniently located across the street from the convention center.

Rated 5 out of 5 Staying at the W SF in February
Very pleased with everything in the hotel. The staff were polite, immaculately groomed and very attentive. Check-in was very efficient and my room was kept clean. My only complaint is that the room windows are very dirty and it is difficult to see out some of them.
Great location for exploring SF and very handy for shops and local bars.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Codybleu Very disappointing
Not comparible to other W Hotels in large cities. Very crowded valet, lobby and bar - no room to move. Elevators were filthy and carpets dirty as were the carpet in my room. Room decor was ridiculous ... not functional like other upper end hotel. Can hear guests in adjacent rooms .... location not the best - overall not a good experience
