Rated 5 out of 5 by fantastic!!!!!! This was our first time to new York and you can not find a better hotel or location then the W hotel in time square. The staff was amazing - the cleaning staff were outstanding!!!! you will not be disappointed if you stay here. January 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Visit Thanks so much for your attention to details to make our visit a great one! The staff members were especially helpful and made us feel welcome! We look forward to visiting New York City again! We will certainly recommend your hotel. January 6, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Location, great and helpful staff. Great location, right in a middle of Times Square. Very professional and friendly staff. Mr. Eric meeting and helping arriving and departing guests at a door is fantastic. He has remarkable customer skills, very professional and attentive to details. Just a nice, courteous and efficient at his duties individual! January 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Loved It !! Amazing staff who returned a lost backpack to Scotland thank you Seth. Beds are so comfortable and the hotel is spotlessly clean. Smells amazing too and you can buy the signature room spray so now my home smells like the W. Staff friendly and car service available from hotel at reasonable prices. We had young children and no one minded at all. Very central, accessible to what you want to see and do in NYC. Thanks again we will be back. x January 4, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by great location for walking everywhere Our stay at the W was great for our needs as far as exploring nyc by foot! A little impersonal though. Would stay again for location and room was clean with great view. January 2, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Happy New Year W Times Square! My decision to stay at the W New York Times Square during the busy New Year's week was perfect. The location of the hotel provides nearby access to all the theatres (very convenient when you are battling crowds). The location also proved a bonus for New Year's Eve. Although I did not have access to Times Square from the hotel during the evening, standing outside the hotel was the next best thing because I could hear all the festivities and feel the excitement but I could also return to the comfort of my room at any time throughout the night. In addition to location, the hotel is warm and inviting. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Although a busy and crazy time for the staff, I always received service with a smile. The room was very comfortable and anything you need is delivered to your room quickly. The breakfast at Blue Fin was delicious with many healthy food choices. Congratulations to the Hotel Manager and his staff for creating such a welcoming environment. Happy New Year to everyone at the W! Hope to see you soon in 20014. January 2, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This Place is Outstanding! I knew I couldn't go wrong when I booked 5 nights at the W. From the moment we arrived, we were in love with our hotel choice. The doormen at the street were all extremely friendly & welcoming, ready to assist as needed. We made our way up to the 7th floor Living Room lobby for check-in. The staff member who checked us in was great! The excitement in her voice when she was telling us about our room & our view got me SUPER excited to get upstairs. We stayed in room 4912. It's a "Cool Corner" room with an awesome view! (We stayed here over NYE, so we were able to see & hear the performances on Times Square directly below our room.) The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. The modern feel is exactly what we prefer when traveling. It was such a neat room to hang out in. And I loved that the windows open!! We were able to let in the cool New York air & hear the sounds of the city below. So even while we were upstairs, we still felt like we were part of the action. The cool thing, though, is that when you close the windows, it actually blocks out a LOT of the city noise! Yes, you can still hear it, but it's so muffled that it's ok. And with all the lights flashing around you in Times Square, the pull-down shades do a GREAT job of blacking out the room! A very well thought out design, for sure! The bathroom is awesome! The walls are frosted glass - you can see silhouettes, but you can't actually see through it so there is still privacy. The vanity has a cool waterfall faucet, and the shower has a rain-shower head which was very relaxing. The shower was a good size. We utilized room service for 2 meals - both were breakfast And the food was AMAZING! I sort of expected the food to be mediocre at best, but we were both pleasantly surprised with the presentation & flavor! We had a waffle, side of bacon, NYC sandwich, OJ & Coffee. Room service is obviously more expensive than eating at a restaurant, but we had early morning commitments, and preferred to pay for the convenience rather than having to make time to stop somewhere else to get food. Plus, after the first meal we ordered, we didn't mind paying for it again because we knew it would be fabulous! We met with the Concierge staff a couple of times during our stay. They were all great, but Kelly stood out to us! He was very personable & great to work with! I had already done research on the sight-seeing portion of our trip, so we didn't really book anything with them. However, we had NO idea where to find good places to eat in the area. They made recommendations & booked reservations for us at a few different restaurants and they were ALL outstanding! I'm so glad we reached out to them in the beginning! We absolutely loved the location of this hotel! This was our first time to New York, and we wanted to make sure we were right in the center of it all! And we were! If you're planning to visit NYC on New Year's, I would recommend this hotel! We stayed here over NYE, and I don't think we could have made a better choice! First of all, to get anywhere near Times Square on NYE, you have to prove that your hotel is there. Our room key with the "W" on it allowed us to pass through barricades that others only wished they could pass through. It felt like total VIP! Like I mentioned earlier, we had a view of Times Square overlooking the NYE performance stages. We made our way downstairs a little before midnight just to see if we could get in on the action on the street level. And we were! Totally wasn't expecting to be IN Times Square, in the middle of the excitement, at midnight, but thanks to the amazing location of the hotel, we were right there!! But even if you're not here on NYE, the W New York Times Square is a great place to be! We were able to walk to so many great places - Central Park, Columbus Circle, 5th Avenue shopping, Rockefeller Plaza, NBC Studios, Grand Central Station, Bryant Park, and of course, you're in the heart of Times Square. We had an amazing time here!! Definitely a 5 star experience all the way around! Can't wait to come back!! January 2, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Need for improvement I booked my stay at this hotel as I know the W's standard from previous stays at starwood hotels in Miami, Cape Town and Kauala Lampur. I was highly disappointed on checking out of the hotel, I had requested a bellman to take my lugage down and this was not done after waiting for 25minutes. I then requested to take the trolly up to my room on my own as they were 3 vacant trollys in the reception and was told i was unable to as it was against the "unions". I had to carry 8 pieces of luggage down by myself to the hotel entrance. Therefore I am highly disappointed at this hotel January 2, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Extreme Makeover Please! Great location in Times Square. This is my third stay and each succeeding stay, the hotel is fading fast. The standard rooms are very small. I book a Fantastic Suite for three nights and it is comparable to a standard room at other Starwood Properties. Housekeeping is excellent but room decor, and furnishings needs extreme updating. Functional features like drawers & closet spaces are minimal at best. The water pressure in the shower must be less than 10 PSI because what would normally be a five minute shower turns into a fifteen minute rinsing challenge. The water leak along the baseboards are very obvious. The wall mounted sink in the entry bathroom is positioned that gives impression of falling off the wall. The recliner next to the bed is simply a waste of space considering there is very little floor space to begin with. Any hotels in Times Square will be subjected to 24 around the clock traffic, police and ambulance noise so this is not a quiet environment. And yes, on Friday and Saturday nights, the 7th floor reception becomes a makeshift cliub on weekends with extremely loud music that we cannot carry a normal conversation. December 30, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Location location location! Nice hotel, friendly staff, hard to find in New York City. You cant beat the location. If you want a hotel near the center of the party this is it!!!! I would not try to drive to this hotel, the roads and the traffic makes it difficult and GPS does not work well (the tall buildings block the signal). We will stay again, also as a Platinum they upgraded us. We stayed on a Weekend. December 28, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Location Always great to stay at the W. Location is perfect. I would recommend a downtown facing room over an uptown room for a better view. December 21, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Customer service is lacking The facilities were great. Unfortunately, the staff was not as great. December 19, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by good stay overall good stay, checking in was easy, liked to have 24 hour access to the gym. Did not appreciate loud staff in the hallways in the morning. Also I went to use the gym equipment and the eliptical was broken. December 19, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Designer forgot what room was for There is only 1 small drawer for clothes and a smallish closet so plan to put your clothes on counters or live out of your suitcase. There is no clock to alert you in neverland. The bathroom has no towel or clothes hangers except for a low hand towel bar, the shower allows a paltry flow of water and the sink moderne is a lovely big dish with a fancy side handle which is impossible to accurately adjust for temperature, so go with scalding or cold. It was nice to lie on the lounge by the window, but a blanket would have been great! The bar has very uncomfortable seats, hard and built for looks, though service was good. We repaired to a local bar. December 16, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by The W is Still Hip but Becoming Dated I like staying at this hotel because the staff is so friendly and helpful. We stayed in a suite on the 24th floor that had a cool view that overlooked Broadway. The bedroom was large with the same view and a flatscreen TV; the bed was very comfortable. I liked the living room area with a desk, large couch, another flatscreen TV and a 1/2 bathroom. Some days the cleaning staff left us complementary bottles of water. Other days they did not. While the TV's are cool, the sound system is an average TV speaker with no place to attach personal electronics like iPhones or iPads. A complementary DVD player is provided but who watches DVD's anymore? A large selection of TV channels was available but no TCM or A&E. Also we had to pay a hefty price for music channels and other specialty channels. WiFi is provided for a price which surprises me. If Starbucks offers free WiFi then the W should be able to as well. The hotel's Blue Fin restaurant is outstanding. Reservation are recommended if you intend to have lunch or dinner at the busy times. I will come back to this hotel but I'll bring my own sound system. Rated 5 out of 5 by Exceeded All My Expectations I have been an hotelier for greater than 40 years and personally I have stayed in Starwood hotels for 1000+ nights. I understand the importance of paying attention to details, and that “little things mean a lot.” When it comes to guest satisfaction, the W New York Times Square is simply the best of the best. The most important element of any successful hotel is its staff. Everybody I came in contact with at the W was polite and well trained. Check-in went smoothly, and though I arrived early and had to wait a short time for my room, I received a phone call as soon as it was available. At check-out time I was amazed that the guest service representative did not ask for my room number – she actually recognized me and remembered which room I was in. The room I stayed in was very clean and the furnishings were in good taste and in excellent condition. I was pleasantly surprised how quiet the room was considering it is in the heart of New York City. I am probably one of the few people that still prefer a bathtub so the shower-only was a disappointment, but I am well aware that most guests would desire the W Hotel’s large walk-in shower. Location is important and the W New York Times Square is in the center of most attractions. I was there to see Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and I only walked a couple blocks to have a great view. Everything I wanted to do was just a short walk away. The W is in the center of the theater district, not far from the boutiques on Fifth Avenue, and near many good restaurants. I am retired but if I were still in the hotel business I would be proud to be associated with such a wonderful hotel. December 11, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Just okay In a good location if you want to be right in Times Square. The hotel is trendy...which is not always user friendly. Very low lighting which makes it difficult to get ready to go out. It is in need of some repairs...broken tiles, not as clean as I would prefer. The staff was very friendly. December 9, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by This hotel was very accommadating We were impressed by the staff especially the ladies that worked in Housekeeping. We traveled with a four year old and they were so nice and such a pleasure. The concierge service was impeccable as well as all the employees at this hotel. Location was fabulous for going to theatre and easy access to anything you want to do while staying in New York. December 3, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by The hotel has great location We enjoyed the hotel due to it's location, it's decor and the staff was very friendly. The room wasn't ready when we arrived at 2:15 PM even though I had requested early check-in... we had to wait for an hour. We were in NYC for our 15 Yr Anniv. I had requested a suite upgrade either using my SPG Suite Night Awards or by paying for it... got neither, despite making a couple of calls. You would think they would accommodate an SPG Platinum member's request for a suite upgrade for a 15 Yr Anniv trip. Breakfast at Blue Fin was OK, we waited 15 min to get coffee and then the kitchen messed up our order. The manager apologized profusely and comped us the breakfast. People at two other tables around us got up and left. We decided not to go back for the rest of our stay. December 2, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Location is great but... I can only recommedn this hotel for loaction, but nothing else...check in takes ages, fab suite was more or less clean, except for bathrooms, nstains on floor and wall in both of them; diry sink etc. No refill in shower gels, shampoo etc. Htl needs make over; everything appears run down! December 2, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Worst ever stay The rooms were in a dreadful state - looking tired, dirty, hair on the floor, dust everywhere. Elevator noise is present in 90% of the rooms. Always having to queue to see someone at reception. A "not-my-job-attitude" by hotel staff. Shocking. November 29, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Staff/ Amazing Vibe! Came For a weekend with my partner and my sister. It was her First time in Manhattan. The Hotel is Gorgeous! Literally the best location in Times Square. We had an early flight into NYC and we anticipated a later check in but we were given an option to take a room that was ready for us!! We were so happy for that! Felt at home, Staff were all friendly, knowlegable and always had a smile :). Highly recommended! Would go back to check out more of the other services at the hotel! 5+ :):) Cheers !! November 26, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Our favorite! My family and I have been staying at this W for the past few years and we simply love it. Impeccable serivce and attentiveness to the smallest details. And, they make children feel so welcome and special--e.g., Allison at the front desk had a nice personal note and cookies for my kids waiting for them in the room! We will be staying again for Christmas this year! November 25, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not a place to rest The main issue with this hotel is the location and noise / light pollution from times square - I stayed for four nights on business and despite requesting a room facing away and on the top floors the noise was awful. examples include a truck with beeping noise that was fixing a light display which started at 4am and didn't stop at all and the fact the rooms have blinds only which don't block out the lights in times square what I would consider a relatively easy thing to fix. The hotel itself in terms of room comfort is ok - no bath and small bathrooms but clean - Gym is very small for size of hotel and even at 5-30 am it is very busy (probably as a result of everyone not being able to sleep due to the noise). I would not stay there again purely as I am on business trip and need to try and get some sleep...I would move a few blocks away November 24, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by great location good hotel and great location November 22, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Staff was awesome Took an earlier flight at last minute for our anniversary wknd, and sent email request for early check in. We arrived at 930 am and room was ready and waiting. Back to room after dinner and bottle of champagne was waiting for us. The staff exceeded our expectations and would definitely recommend. November 20, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by A great escape from busy Times Square Had a great stay at the W Times Square. This was my first time at a W and was impressed right from the friendly and efficient checkin to the (unfortunately too soon) checkout. The room was comfortable and had thoughtful touches but would benefit from blackout blinds as some may have a disrupted sleep from Times Square lights. November 18, 2013
