Rated 5 out of 5 by DCTravelHound now my favorite W hotel
i stayed for my first time last week at this property and it has become my favorite W hotel. great design throughout the hotel - in both common areas and the room. i had a corner fantastic suite and it really was a great size room that allowed me to completely relax. the staff is top notch, and the location cannot be beat for getting around montreal. i definitely will return - and i cannot recommend this property enough. people - you will not be disappointed (if you get and appreciate the entire W concept)!

Rated 4 out of 5 by JHConsultant Spacious rooms & pleasant staff
The W Montreal is a fine property. The "Mega" rooms were spacious and clean, the staff was friendly and professional, and the views of the park were pleasant. The Acura Experience was particularly convenient. SPG Platinum recognition did not exceed expectations.
The property manager declined to provide the SPG Platinum best-available-room upgrade, citing a hotel policy that excludes higher-priced suites from upgrade eligibility.
Nevertheless, the hotel represented a good value and a fine overall experience.

I had a great time at the W recently, the staff was very attentive, gave me a free upgrade in terms of my room and everything was spot on! Thanks so much. I'll definitely be back!

Staff were friendly and went out of their way to ensure I had the best possible stay. While a lack of privacy in the bathroom may be an issue it didn't really inconvenience us too much. Overall the W Montreal is a great place to stay and I'd recommend you try it out.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Stew99 Second time I've had a problem with this hotel
I waited a long time to check in and I am a SPG platinum member. Got to my room and there was a food try blocking the entrance with the remains of someone's room service meal on the tray. When I got to my room I noticed a significant fecal mess on the side of the toilet. When I called the desk they took some time to decide what they were going to do and I was adamant that I wanted a different room, not just someone to clean the mess. 15 minutes after I go toff the phone a hotel worker entered my room without a knock as he was told that it was vacant and didn't know anything about the mess or my room change. 15 more minutes passed before someone showed up with t a new key to my replacement room. For this I was offered a drink coupon and I was utterly disappointed int he service level. I will stay at the Westin next time in Montreal.

The rooms at the W in Montreal were great. They were large, clean, well-kept. The rest of the hotel was like a dungeon. It was dark, with loud music. There were bouncers standing outside the club in everyone's way. The staff was not helpful nor friendly, with the exception of one bellman. There were also charges on the bill that the staff could not explain, e.g. $50 a night for "other room charges.' I definitely would not stay here again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by LesBonsVivants Excellent Weekend
We spent the weekend in Montreal and this was the perfect choice. We arrived after midnight on Friday and after a quick change, headed downstairs to Wunderbar to kick things off. The crowd and DJ was great, and the staff were friendly and generous.
The location is at the crossroads of the downtown core and Old Montreal. A short walk or cab ride from everything.
The concierge offered helpful advice on shopping and nightlife.
The rooms were excellent, with the following observations:
There is no coffee in the room! Really? A note invites you down to the mezzanine for free coffee, but who wants to do that after a late night at Wunderbar?
The umbrella at the minibar is NOT for borrowing Opening the package leads to a minibar charge. A price tag may have helped... As I didn't keep the umbrella, the desk clerk offered to take the charge off my bill.
Our friend stayed in a Wonderful room and had but one potential complaint: the glass walled shower into the bedroom, while awesome, has no privacy option. More awkward if one were sharing a room, however, is the mini curtain between the shower and the bathroom which *almost* provides privacy between the bed and the toilet.
Our Wow Suite was perfect for entertaining, especially as the bed and main bath were upstairs. There is a powder room on the main for guests. The oversized couch was great for watching a movie after a late night out. Again, there's a glass walled shower overlooking the living area - no worries if you're comfortable with your roomie! Luckily both commodes were private.
The rooms' lighting sets a great mood, but the option of ugly lights would help finding everything when packing up.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Louis13 Small dark rooms
Very small rooms. Bed is too short. Dark, dark rooms so basically cannot see anything. Night staff outside of hotel rude/uninviting to hotel patrons. Not one staff member asked how my stay was (including the check out person).

I reserved a room for a special occasion and the W was a perfect choice. Service at the front desk was impeccable. I was upgraded to a beautiful room on the 8th floor. The room had a great view of the city and was super clean. The staff was attentive and professional. As a frequent traveller, many hotels offer beautiful rooms and surrounding however, what makes a difference is the attention of the personnel. Our stay at the W was perfect!

I was very disappointed with the noise level on the weekends. For $350 a night, I was expecting a "classier" hotel without having to see university students puke in the main floor washroom.
I tried to complain about the noise level the next morning, however according to the customer rep, it would be "impossible to hear anything from the 7th floor". I guess I was imagining the noise?
If you are in need of a peaceful stay, I would not recommend this hotel.

Front desk staff was completely useless. waited 20 minutes to check-in, notified the staff that the coffee urn was empty and apparently I offended her by suggesting she have someone refill it. Of course that did take her away from her conversation so it was a bit of an intrusion.
called down to have our car brought up and the front desk chose not to inform the valet.....waited 20 minutes for the car so I guess there was symmetry

My girlfriend and I came up for a long weekend to celebrate my birthday and had the best time thanks to the amazing staff at the W hotel. The concierge, Maxime, was super friendly, helpful, and gave us some great recommendations on where to eat and drink. He even sent up some chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of wine to our room to welcome us and say happy birthday. That little surprise really made our night. Then later on we asked if he could call Club Soda for us during the day b/c they had told us the night before they could be releasing tickets for a sold out show. When he called and they didn't have tickets he went out of his way to search the internet for local people with some for sale and even contacted one of them on our behalf. We couldn't believe he would go to all that trouble for us. We can't wait to come back again!

I came to town on business but I didn't realize all the hype about this hotel until I told a couple people where I was checking in. As soon as I walked in, I felt like I was in a premium lounge. This hotel lives up to the hype. Even considering my suite was upgraded to pretty much the best available, if there's any consistency at all, the other rooms would probably be quite livable as well,
It IS the hip spot to stay at in Montreal. If you want status, this is where you tell people you're checking in. The atmosphere reeks of "new money" and self-important social climbers but to be fair there are pretentious people no matter what hotel you stay at.
That said, I would stay here again. The staff are great, it's within a five minute walk of most of my clients in Montreal, and SPG beds are consistent world wide. I know exactly how to adjust to get the perfect sleep.

Rated 4 out of 5 by cuddlypolarbear A great stay, but.....
W Montreal, is by far one of the nicest hotels to stay at when you are in Montreal. The staff are fun, friendly and very outgoing. They make you feel at home the minute you walk in the door. The Lobby is trendy and modern and that look follows throughout the hotel. The rooms, while cozy are unique and give off a very trendy vibe.
The only downside to the stay is the fact that i never received my wakeup call (my ride to the airport was booked at the same time, so how I managed to get a ride and not a wakeup call is beyond me) I will say that almost missing my flight home, really brought down my experience at this property. I dont expect such a high class hotel to boo boob on something like a missed wake up call. I was offered a croissant as an apology which to me really means nothing as i expected someone from management to contact me regarding the issue.

Very impressed and pleased with the level of excellence provided. From the Valet to the the room attendant! Each-and-every staff member showed the genuine wish to make this the best posible stay. Raphael (at the front desk) and Brigitte (one of the hotel managers) especially stood out (and amongst all their co-workers that was quite a feat!). Thank you for truly looking after me and my family!! WHat a great start to the New Year!

The hotel is an impeccable property with all the little details perfectly in place. Staff were very helpful and the room was magnificent. The W Montreal is what you would expect from the W hotels and is the best one I have stayed at thus far. Location of the hotel is perfect too, just steps away from Old Montreal and the business district. Overall a great experience. Just wish SPG hotels would do more to recognize Gold members...

We wanted to thank the W hotel in Montreal for the wonderful anniversary experience. We were surprised with an upgrade to a beautiful room, were greeted by an anniversary card, snacks and a fruit plate in our room. The service was great, drinks in the lounge were tasty, location was close to everything we had planned to do or were a short metro ride away. We had a great weekend and will be returning for sure. Thank you so much.

I requested a fan in my room when I made my reservation and they were all loaned out when I arrived. The design of your open bathroom is very inconvenient for getting ready. The hotel bar kept us up with the noise very late at night.

Rated 4 out of 5 by H333 Don't pass up the concierge services
The concierge, Daniel, was the most helpful I have ever had. Very knowledable and clearly enjoys his job. If he sees you again, he follows up on where you went and how your day was.
I stayed 3 nights and was offered The Green Option. No maid service for an extra 500 points per night. A great idea. They will bring extra towels needed.
Although comfortable, the rooms are very dark even with every light turned on.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The design of the room was poor. VERY DARK even with every light on. No storage in the room. Booked a "fantastic suite". It was not. In fact, I don't think a piece of wood at the end of the bed makes this room a suite. I will not stay at a W again. Be very sure you understand how these hotels are "designed" before you book. If we hadn't prepaid I would have checked out.

Rated 2 out of 5 by SleeplessInMOntreal Don't stay over club
Hotel is very nice and the rooms are beautiful. Unfortunately, the club directly below my room doesn't tie things up until 3am. I wasn't warned about this when I booked and it meant that I averaged about 2 hours of sleep per night while on business.
The music is so loud that the bass shakes your bed and with ear plugs and two pillows over the ears, it's so loud that it would be impossible to sleep.

There is a complete lack of soundproofing between room and from the room to the hotel corridor. I could hear every work spoken by by the guests in the adjacent room.
On a Saturday night, a large group all staying on the same floor as me cam back at 4:30 am and proceeded to shout and cause a disturbance and security were unable to stop them for quite some time.
This isn't a hotel for business people.

The front desk personnel were absolutely wonderful - from early check-in through late check-out. They always seemed to acknowledge our entrance from outside with a smile which made us feel at home. Breakfast at the restaurant was very good and our upgraded room was better than expected.
We didn't especially care for the lighting in the lobby and our "open" bathroom, but neither was a major problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 Great Location, Great People
Great location, close by the station (train/metro), close by the action (Old Montreal). Lots of great restaurants around the area.
The people at the W were top quality and were extremely helpful in making me feel welcome at the location. Everyone greeted me with a smile and a quick greeting.
Only thing that was bad was the power outage at midnight for half an hour (was in the middle of a TV show).

Rated 4 out of 5 by Paul Good for vampires
I stayed at W Montreal for Grand Prix weekend. If you like quiet, this IS NOT hotel for you. From my room on the 7th floor, I could hear music pumping until 2am. If you like a bar & nightlife, this place IS for you. Location and staff are great. My room was interior facing, had a small window, and was consequently always dark. In short, nightlife + dark room = great if you're a vampire.
