We were in the Living Room Bar and were cut off and asked to leave because I couldn't remember the name of the beer I wanted when I ordered it. First off, I'm not a big beer drinker and it slipped my mind for a second. My friends and I were staying in the hotel for a fun girls night out. We were not drunk and we were spending a lot of money in the hotel. So being cut off and asked to leave I thought was ridiculous. We were much more lucid than about half the people in there. And if I was so drunk that I needed to be cut off, why then did the bartender, who turned me in, give me the beer?? We didn't make a scene, we just paid our tabs and left to our room, IN THE HOTEL. I have stayed at this hotel before and was very pleased and I have been to this bar several times and was very pleased but this time I was disappointed. Also I noticed that there were prom kids walking through the bar all night and coming in and sitting down. I thought it was a 21+ bar? Also I have noticed that when we checked in and checked out no one offered to get our bags. 3 women and not one person offered to help with our bags. I have stayed at lesser hotels and they brought my bags to my room. I wonder if maybe I should tryout some of the other high end hotels in Dallas for my next girls night out. Having said that, the food in Cook Hall was good and our waitress was great. Our waitress in The Living Room Bar was good, but she was busy, It was the bartender who was the problem. The girls who checked us in and out were nice. Kevin the bouncer was very friendly, understanding and professional. I was just sad to leave this time with a bad taste in my mouth, whereas I usually leave really pleased and happy and not caring about spending $500-$600 for the night. But this time I felt like it was money wasted.

Overall bad experience
Stayed at W Dallas because of a delayed flight
No room service menu - when delivered it was worn and grease stained.
Food was cold and tasteless - for $50. This was refunded, but would have preferred better food than a refund.
Was woken up by construction in the stairwell at 4:30 AM. Staff responded, but noise continued for 20 minutes.
Stayed at hotel for a total of 5.5 hours due to noise.
Staff didn't really seem too concerned when i told them of problems.
Overall an short, unimpressive experience. I expect more of a W and Starwood properties generally.

The bathroom setup is unacceptable. There is no division between the hall door and bathroom and that is just one of the things. Their beds are like rocks, and I like hard beds. Their coffee is terrible. It is noisy in the room from the outside. The staff tried to do the best they could. They were nice and friendly. The room service was extremely fast.

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Just a few months since our stay but both my partner and I are having difficulty recalling anything special about this property. That would be expected and understandable in a run-of-the-mill convention or airport hotel but for a W - in which even the ordinary is promised and expected to be extraordinary - it is a grave problem.
SPG RECOGNITION: Could really stand improvement. Initially no upgrade but moved to a Suite after the first night. Despite contact from my Starwood Ambassador, advance prep and special requests were not heeded. No in-room amenity. No recognition of status in interactions with staff…not even the standard “thank you for your loyalty” at check-in.
THE ROOM: Attractive and even a little whimsical but soon ready for a refresh.
LOCATION: Virtually connected to the American Airlines Center and within walking distance of nearly all important downtown sights.
EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS: We are very design-conscious and this W stands with one truly beautiful space - the striking Living Room. We also loved the touches of ‘cowboy cool’ referential to the property's location in “the Big D.”
DID NOT MEET EXPECTATIONS: I find the practice of some Ws of improvising a grab-and-go breakfast in the bar for their Platinum guests frankly tacky. Why the allowance was quite generous, the offerings and lack of service are inadequate. Take it up a notch and offer a proper breakfast in a proper restaurant space!
ONE THING TO KNOW: The very small pool and even smaller pool deck are, apparently, a major party spot for the local crowd and they pack ‘em in there - especially on weekends. Billed as an Infinity Pool, it was much more like a Petrie Dish! We were there over Labor Day and it was cheek-by-jowl - including MANY children - meaning that paying residential guests were poorly served and staff were overwhelmed…with dirty towels and glassware strewn everywhere. Revenue is revenue but the foremost priority should be creating and maintaining an exceptional atmosphere and well-maintained space for the hotel’s own guests.

So grateful to Grecia for sending us a bottle of champagne and offering a free upgrade when we celebrated our anniversary! This kind of service is why I switched to Starwood properties - and why I'll stay!
