Rated 2 out of 5 The fan in the room never turned off.
I stay at this hotel with my mom. I realized that the fan never stop at 5 am. They gave us a room that the fan/air condition/heater is not working correctly. So I called the information desk and they let me know how to turn off, but it did not work. So finally an engineer came over to look at and fixed it. So I slept the whole night with the noisy sound from fan. And in the morning, I told a person at the front desk about this, and she said " i apologized " without smiling. So It was my horrible experience with "W" that I never expected.

I've had massages frequently over the last years. I had the best ever at the Bliss spa.
Our flight into Chicago was very early. We expected to check our luggage until check-in. We were given an available room immediate;ly - how wonderful.
The breakfast in The Wave restaurant was excellent.

This room might as well have been in some mid-level chain hotel. The beds were uncomfortable and the room decor was lacking. Yeah, it's nit-picky, but I don't expect the "closet" to be hidden by what effectively looked like a shower curtain.
The beds sat upon what appeared to be a particle-board platform/covered in wood-colored laminate.
Bliss bath products were a nice touch.
Re: hotel staff - I'll give check-in three stars and check-out five. I booked our room in January and our rate included 2 cocktails, parking, and a night's stay with a "city view." Upon check-in, none of this was mentioned and I had forgotten about the cocktails (though not the parking). Fast forward to the next morning when I received our folio via email and we were charged over $50 for parking. On to the five stars - I approached the front desk and discussed the issue with them. Luckily, I still had my reservation email which stated parking was included. There were no issues getting the fee removed, and they were super nice about it.
Still bummed to have missed out on the cocktails, however...but I only have myself to blame on that one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by WhyWhyWhy A noisy stay
We wre on the 32nd floor and when the night club on the 33rd closed around 2am a bunch of noisy people invaded the hallway and woke us up. Then there was a tremenduous thumping, about 10 of them, that made the building shake, all three nights we were there, at around 2:30 am. Ordered a needle and thread and gave up after waiting 20 minutes. It was in the room when we returned 4 hours later so I can only guess how long it took. Otherwise front desk staff, concierge and outside fellows were great.

Rated 3 out of 5 by AKEDAPRLR Lack of attention to detail
When I arrived to my room after check in, the room door was held open with the security lock. At first I thought there was another guest, but apparently staff neglected to follow up with something. No bar of soap in room until 2nd day. Please be sure to leave "early breakfast order" card for subsequent days during daily cleaning. All of these things can be remedied with a call, but that should not be necessary.

I stayed in the Wonderful Room for a night over Easter. When we got to our hotel room, we saw that there was dry blood on our pillows. We called that in and they replaced it immediately and followed up to check if room service took care of it. We used the toilet and the toilet was not flushing that well. I was afraid it was going to overflow. Third, the walls must be really thin, because I heard my neighbors moving around in the room next door. I've stayed in other W hotels and I've always been satisfied but certainly not this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by kwhitesure Feel At Home!
We come into Chicago a couple times a month and the W is one of my favorite places to stay. the location is great, especially to Navy Pier and the staff always makes us feel at home. I would recommend this hotel to anybody. However, I have one suggestion. For whatever reason, there are not coffee makers in the rooms. I don't understand this, as I have never stayed in a hotel...even overseas...that doesn't. They don't charge you to use one..however they also don't ask you when you check in if you would like one. Since you probably don't know there is not one in the room...you don't realize it until you get up in the morning to have a cup. I think if they are not going to have them in the room they should at least make a point of asking. Other than that it is absolutely great and adds a little more pleasure to your Chicago visit.
