Rated 2 out of 5 by Audiscotty Up in Smoke and without a Fan
The first room we were assigned to smelled awful like someone had been smoking in the room. However, shortly after calling room service, Kevin came up to our room and escorted us to our new room. The new room did not smell like smoke; however, the air conditioner worked poorly. We had to request a fan in order to stay cool in the evenings. I emailed the GM at the hotel and I never received a response in regards to my complaints about the room that smelled like smoke. Also, I reviewed my bill today and I was charged for mini bar. We never used any of the products at the mini bar. This is pathetic. I will not be staying here at this facility again. In fact, I will reconsider ever staying at another W hotel..

The hotel was very, very nice. The beds were quite comfortable; the shower pressure was excellent! The hotel's location was excellent which provided easy accessibility to the French Quarter. All things were in walking distance including Harrah's, just across the street!
The only bad things were;
We had 4 people in our room with two full sized beds. Too small. Not enough space. They should not allow booking for that. Even though you see the picture of the room, it's way too small when you see it in person. On my next visit, I will definitely book two adjoining rooms.
The pool: Though beautiful and set outside, it is extremely too small. If you get about 4 or 5 people splashing around at once, then OMG! The seating around the pool is enchanting; the view from the pool area is pretty nice as well, but just too small.
Parking: Be ready! The cost is extremely high, but I noticed that with all the hotels! Please be sure to set aside a little extra for the taxes. My guy only told me about the daily rate. :0(
Overall an extremely good trip! The hotel itsself is quite appealing!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Michael67 Staff was great
Everything about the hotel was great. However, the bathroom was very small. The most disappointing part of my experience was the pool. My wife and I planned on relaxing by the pool a couple of hours on Sunday. The W opened the pool to the public and there was no where to sit. We asked if we could rent the open cabana for a couple of hours and was told it would be 350.00 for the day.

Rated 2 out of 5 by AJAJ Not Again - W New Orleans
Overall, I would probably not stay at the W New Orleans again. When comparing the room to other W locations I have stayed at before, this particular hotel comes up short.
A couple of the most immediate issues I remember are: 1. Double beds have shared door with other room where the doors about an inch or so off the ground making it seem you have room-mates (this is the same with the front door to the room) and the walls themselves are very, very thin, the cleanliness of the floor as well as the bath room left a lot to be desired and the electrical outlets were laughable if they didn't seem so dangerous - basically consisted of free slot in a power strip which hadn't been cleaned since it was installed.
Overall, the room felt like it was put together with the cheapest way possible from mismatched, spotted carpet to doors which seem to be to small for the height necessary (seemed to be household doors?) and extremely dirty.
To be fair, the staff did try hard to meet our expectations and given the physical shortcomings of the room, they did all they could.

The bathroom was dirty when I arrived. I decided not to complain because I was tired and only spending one night. This room is not up to W standards and should not be labelled a W. Even the hallways didn't have the appearance of being clean.
I appreciate receiving a good rate but would not recommend this property.

Rated 3 out of 5 by SalesTraveler Sadly Disappointed
While the staff was incredible as you would expect from a W and SPG property, the sleeping room was a disappointment to me. I stayed here to assess the use of this property for an upcoming sales meeting, and while the meeting rooms and overall facility were fine, the sleeping rooms were below par. Electrical sockets were falling out of the wall and dirty, the coffee maker had opened sugar packets and dirty cups for use, the bed was not what I've come to expect from a W property, and overall it just didn't feel like a W room experience. I understand the hotel is an old building, but the carpets were very tired and worn and lots of marks on the walls, etc. Just seems pretty beat up in my opinion. Was sad to see this as I almost didn't visit as I know W is always a class act. Sadly this won't pass for my sales meeting.
Again, the STAFF was incredible though!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Magz2013 Great place to stay
Great location just across from Harrah's and not too far from Bourbon St & the French Quarter (walking distance), but far enough away that you can actually sleep when you want to (not as noisy of an area). Staff was great, room was comfy, but breakfast at the restaurant left something to be desired for the cost. Mother's is right next door, along with plenty of other great spots to eat though!
