Rated 1 out of 5 by Not the NOLA experience we hoped for. The check in was smooth and clerks were nice. The room was small! 3 people with 4 suitcases + carry ons for 5 days with no chairs, no dresser drawers no where to move around, a tiny closet...it just doesn't work guys!! It seemed like a by the hour rental!! The bathroom was less than desirable! The tub was dirty...get some Comet brand soap/scum cleaner...it works!!....The shelf that was under the sink was dusty...we really should have written a date in it!! We had to walk quite a distance to change hotels. November 8, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by the staff was pleasant my Mattress sheet was not big enough for the bed so in turn it left about a foot of Mattress and mattress pad exposed. I did my best by covering it with a bath towel so not to be exposed to the Mattress and pad. I also believe the sheet they did cover the bed with not only was to small but old and stained. I did cover this matter with your Manager on duty the following morning on my way out. April 24, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Expecting the best available rate, NOT TRUE I booked my room thru a Wedding party booking, expecting the best available rate. NOT TRUE. By using AAA, I was able to aquire a 30% additional discount and was given a $25 food credit too. I was also billed for several mini bar items which i never touched. Plus, questions I asked at the front desk could not be answered. A check out kiosk or telephone check out would have given me more information about my bill than the front desk staff that has no authority or billing knowledge. September 16, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by W New Orleans The rooms at this hotel are in desperate need of an update. They are small, oddly shaped, worn, and it shows. There is a plumbing problem as well. The pipes make noise all night, shower drains clog, but the shower pressure is excellent! The bathroom was dirty, the toilet was not flushed when I checked in, there was hair in the shower which was not mine, toilet seat would not stay up cosmetic mirror was filthy. You would think that the housekeeping staff would notice these things when they are cleaning the rooms and get them fixed. The other staff is excellent and tried to fix everything. This hotel is not worth 10,000 points a night. September 30, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Poor Room Design I was not impressed with the rooms at the W Hotel in New Orleans. The bathroom is poorly designed in that there is no floor barrier between the shower and the rest of the bathroom so the entire floor gets wet as water drains across it. Also the shower head is only 5'6" or so off the ground, requiring most to duck to get under it. Also the closet is split into a lower and upper area, with the lower to be used for hanging clothes. Unfortunately the bar isn't far enough off the ground to prevent some items from touching the ground and getting wrinkled. Finally, the carpet was pretty wore out, as well as the furniture. The common areas were nice, and the bed was as comfortable as you would expect from a W hotel. However, I would avoid this hotel and recommend staying at one of the other premium hotels in the local area. October 4, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Nice lobby Terrible guest rooms Our room smelled like mildew, the carpet was dirty, brown, torn and damp. The bed linens were stained. I called the front desk to ask for an acceptable room. We were shown 3 rooms that were in the same or whose condition. One room had ripped upholstery with the filling exposed. We asked for assistance moving to a nearby w hotel but management was uninterested in helping us. We were refunded our money after midnight. Luckily we had a car. If not we would have been on the streets of New Orleans with luggage and without a hotel room. We finally checked into an acceptable competing hotel at 3am. I contacted W corporate office but have not received an official response in over 1 week. The W hotel used to be my go to hotel. I did not know that they had this type of property. Now I am very reluctant to book a W hotel in an unfamiliar location. December 5, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by construction lead to miserable stay i needed to work from my hotel room on conference calls for most of the day but the drilling and banging made that very tough. I also had no water for over 2 hours so the toilet wouldn't flush and I could n't brush my teeth. The menu at Zoe was very limited and unappealing and ridiculously expensive. $21 for an egg white omelette, $6 for a ginger ale, The room, bed. towels and bathroom products were nice. The room was clean. At least 4 more power sockets were needed. The staff were really great all round May 23, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Hungrykeith An update to my previous review: The positive points about this hotel are: the small clean swimming pool, the gym on the pool level is a good size, the concierge service is friendly and knowledgeable, the car valets are fast and helpful, the lobby is big with ample seating and two bars, the location is just a few blocks from the French Quarter, about a 5 minute walk to all of the action. If the rooms were refreshed this would be a great place to stay. October 1, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Noisy room & Parking Costs Overall impression was great! However, there was a constant vibration in our ceiling that was rather annoying but did not feel the need to complain. The sofa in the room had some type of stain on it. The music audio device had quite a bit of dirt on it and did not work. The parking costs are absolutely ridiculous. Rated 3 out of 5 by Needs some improvement This particular property just doesn't measure up to other W branded properties. There are noticably fewer staff to greet you, the facilities appear to have lost their luster, and it the glass facade appears run down. The bed was comfortable, but the carpets are worn, The bathrooms are on par with budget brand hotels and have no fans with ceilngs of 7 ft. high. Makes for a humid room after a shower. The exercise room is in good order with new machines and is clean with plenty of towels. The pool is small, very small. April 2, 2014

Rated 4 out of 5 by 1st New Orleans Trip This was my first trip to New Orleans in over 20 years and the first time staying in a W hotel. The W on Poydras was great. Very friendly and attentive staff and very willing to help with any and all questions/requests that I had during this stay. Room was very comfortable and relaxing and I had a great view of the river from my King Cool Corner room. Easy access to the French Quarter and the River Walk. Could stand a little improvement on the TV reception with certain channels but it wasn't a big deal. Overall, I would highly recommend this W hotel to anyone that is looking for a great place to stay while in New Orleans. December 4, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by great for younger crowd it's okay for younger crowd - very noisy on week-end nights in lobby area whish is where they have the bar. restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch, not dinner. rooms are on small side but nice. could use better cleaning staff - had q-tip on carpet from prior quest. only there for 1 night - bellmen very friendly and acommating. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great location, easy access Hotel has an excellent location: a few blocks from the French Quarter, across the street from the casino, and one block from Riverside and trolley. The service is spectacular and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The bathrooms are a little crammed and old, but the room as a whole was clean and comfortable. May 2, 2013

This was the worst W I have ever stayed in, and all anyone says is "sorry, come back and visit us when the renovation is complete". Really? Why would I? May 23, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Valet Parking a Nightmare Unfortunately this property needs some serious improvements. The carpet in the room was so badly soiled that there was a visible color difference in the perimeter of the room and the usable area. The front desk staff was very responsive and gets very high marks for customer service. However the valet parking should be shut down! I called for my vehicle and was told 10-15 minutes. When I arrived to retrieve the vehicle 15 minutes later it had not arrived. 30 minutes later I had to take a taxi to my meeting that I was now late for. The next morning for check out I called shortly after 5am, there was no traffic on the streets. Again I was told 10-15 minutes. When I arrived to retrieve the vehicle 15 minutes later no vehicle. The attendant called and was told they had just located the vehicle. They bring my vehicle 10 minutes later. This delay could have caused me to miss my flight. While the first night's parking was credited I was still charged for the second night but the service didn't improve even though it was the least busy time of the day. Maybe they should offer shuttle service because valet service is a nightmare! October 4, 2013

Rated 3 out of 5 by Old Dirty Rooms with no swagger This was my second W reservation for the same night. I booked The W French Quarter believing the pool was the W New Orleans pool. I did not relies there are two W hotel in New Orleans. The French Quarter pool did not look inviting enough, therefore I booked The W New Orleans. The New Orleans French Quarter is beautiful and clean. That is what I expect booking with the W. The W New Orleans is not what I expected. Upon checking into my room, the bathroom floor had hair on it. The chaise lounge was stained. The magazines were wet and wrinkled. The rest of the room completely tasteless. Popcorn ceilings, white walls, no style at all. The pool and cabanas were great. The host, Chelsea, was wonderful. May 3, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The W New Orleans is the place to be! I've been to New Orleans over five times and never stayed at the W until last week. What a hidden gem! The hotel staff is very polite and friendly. The customer service was the best. The food was delicious in Zoe. We ate there for breakfast. The hotel room was comfty and clean. The hotel security was awesome too made me feel real comfortable staying there. The acura experience was real nice too. I never expected it and we took well advantage of it! Most of all -- it was the customer service and atmosphere of the hotel that was the winner for me. I would highly recommend this hotel! July 24, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Parents Weekend At first things seemed OK with our room. Then I discovered the safe did not work. After security noted it would have to be replaced, that was the last I heard about "the safe." So much for securing my valuables. I then called at 4 PM to have my room made up, upon my return at 11:30 PM NOTHING had been done, I had to call for towels. Upon receipt of my invoice via email, I discovered there was a minibar charge....which I never used. I opened the refrigerator once to put something in, that was it. Oh, and a hotel that charges for internet.....not for me. November 8, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Very disappointed As star rewards member our king-sized room was upgraded though when we saw the room we were surprised. No dresser, just the drawers in the bedside tables and only 2 chairs, and one of them a desk chair. When the room was cleaned glasses were not replaced and when we asked the maid for clean towels we were told we had to ask at the desk. Items missing from our room - coffee maker and coffee items; iron; extra blanket; and informational brochure on the hotel amenities and things to do while in New Orleans. The Whiskey Blue was very well hidden and rarely open. Most of the personnel there could use personalities and be trained to smile and how to talk to customers. This was one of the worst hotels we have visited. However on the plus side we did have a very good staff to assist us in the lobby area. February 6, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by too many problems from the long wait at check in, to the room not being ready by 4:30 to the tub and sinks not draining, to the phones and coffe machine in room not working, to the gym facilities having broken machines or no water even being available, this stay was the tops in disappointment staying with starwood properties. while the staff was nice generally and would do what ws askeed, it seems that management has really let the ball drop. all behavior is reactive and not pro-active. i can only see myself staying here if no other great hotels are available. Rated 4 out of 5 by Big Easy Get Away We used cash and points for a 4 day get away. The W is well placed for adventure into the Quarter, the Warehouse district and the Riverfront. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We had a great experience with two exceptions: the wifi was terrible and the parking is very expensive. But those were minor annoyances to an otherwise wonderful stay and a great getaway. February 16, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by recent stay had three rooms at the hotel. Hotel is the most dated W hotel I have ever stayed at. Lobby looks great, rooms awful. I stayed in a WOW suite and WOW should mean, WOW how old and decrepit the rooms look. From the fixtures in the bathroom, to the power strips this property needs an overhaul. One of our rooms had an air conditioning issue the entire stay. There is no way , someone from Starwood could tour this property and have it hold a candle to ANY other.This hotel needs to close for 6 months and RENOVATE!!!! November 4, 2013
