Rated 2 out of 5 by absame Needs updating
Have stayed in this hotel several times because I have been able to get a good rate. Rooms desperately need updating, although the bed is very comfortable. We were in a room that had a connecting door, and we were able to hear everything in other room. Very disappointing for a W

Rated 5 out of 5 by LizzMarie The W in NOLA
Stayed at the W for 1 night and loved this hotel! The location couldn't be any better! (You literally walk out the doors of the hotel and are looking at Harrah's Casino!) The hotel itself is very modern, ie. sweat- gym, wet-pool, etc. The room itself was very clean, needed some updating, but I was informed that they where in the process of it right now, so I can't wait to see the end results! The bed was super comfy and the room was a decent size with a decent view. My only complaints- the charge for wireless in the rooms is outrageous, 14.95/night. Though you can get free wireless in the lobby, it's still a disappointment considering you pay over 100 for the room. There was just one person at the front desk I had an issue with, everyone else was very accommodating. I felt like I was being judged by her. She treated me like some vagabond off the street, gave me a business card, and kept looking at the front door. I flashed my room key and she looked surprised, I found it very insulting. And there is not a fitted sheet on the bed which I find kind of gross. I found myself waking up on the mattress. Otherwise, amazing hotel and cannot wait to return!

Rated 5 out of 5 by PackerBacker Hotel is a lot better than the room suggests...
This is definitely a "pig" that the W has put lipstick on! It isn't obvious until you get to the rooms with "popcorn ceilings" and smoke alarms that look like they have been there for 50 years. Hotel is great, rooms and bathroom in the room need some definite attention!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Lucy30 Front desk personnel were excellent.
Our stay was extra special because of the Conceirge (Travis). He was cordial, quite knowledgeable and all of his restaurant recommendations were excellent. We were at his desk just about every day for one thing or another and he remained patient and eager to serve.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MMarie I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the W New Orleans.
The hotel is in a great location. right next door to the world famous Mother's Resaurant and to Harrah's Casino. Additionally, the Riverwalk is just a short distance walk away. The hotel interior is mod and fabulous. The staff was absolutely first rate.

Upon arrival, I had to wait 45 minutes before my room was ready and has been "inspected". This disallowed my time to go to the gym before going to dinner with clients, which wasn't ideal. Additionally, when I got to my "inspected" room, it absolutely reaked of stale cigarettes. So, I let the front desk know, and they moved me to a different room. Overall, from the time I got to the hotel to the time I got to my room, the whole process took about an hour.
Also, on Monday night I planned on watching the NCAA Men's National Championship game while working from the hotel. However, it was pretty much impossible to do so because my tv played CBS with an unbearable skip in the picture and sound for the entirety of the game.
Lastly, one of the work colleagues I was traveling with got in the elevator on Wednesday morning and after going down a few floors, the doors opened and a naked man got on the elevator with her.
Overall, I must say that the hotel obviously didn't meet expectations and I don't plan on choosing that SPG hotel in the future

The entire staff was very attentive. Shadai in particular was extremely impressive. I would stay at the hotel for all of my trips to New Orleans if I knew she would be handling my needs. Thanks for a great stay.

Rated 2 out of 5 by AJAJ Not Again - W New Orleans
Overall, I would probably not stay at the W New Orleans again. When comparing the room to other W locations I have stayed at before, this particular hotel comes up short.
A couple of the most immediate issues I remember are: 1. Double beds have shared door with other room where the doors about an inch or so off the ground making it seem you have room-mates (this is the same with the front door to the room) and the walls themselves are very, very thin, the cleanliness of the floor as well as the bath room left a lot to be desired and the electrical outlets were laughable if they didn't seem so dangerous - basically consisted of free slot in a power strip which hadn't been cleaned since it was installed.
Overall, the room felt like it was put together with the cheapest way possible from mismatched, spotted carpet to doors which seem to be to small for the height necessary (seemed to be household doors?) and extremely dirty.
To be fair, the staff did try hard to meet our expectations and given the physical shortcomings of the room, they did all they could.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Tarheel This hotel needs to redo its plumbing.
Overall my stay was very, very, good. They need to redo/correct the plumbing in the rooms. You were unable to have the shower and/or tub on singely - they both ran at the same time no matter what. The employees are wonderful and do "aim to please."

Rated 2 out of 5 by Unhappyguest1 Not what you would expect
Just a so-so hotel. Not what you would expect for the high price of the room. Mattress was awful -- they need to invest in a decent mattress. Television didn't work without someone coming up to fix it -- not just once but every night. Unaccepable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by DrFleming An excellent quality of staff
Upon arrival, my every need was the main care of each staff member. Although I was not too naive, as to think that I was the only customer, they made me feel as if I were. Their character and attentiveness to me and my party was exceptional.

Rated 2 out of 5 by KellyS This hotel tried to be trendy but used cheap materials.
This hotel has great style, but everything is worn down and it seems that they went for the look without using any quality products. The walls are PAPER THIN. Also, the lady that came to clean our room was amazing and super friendly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mia47 W Hotel Review
The hotel was very, very nice. The beds were quite comfortable; the shower pressure was excellent! The hotel's location was excellent which provided easy accessibility to the French Quarter. All things were in walking distance including Harrah's, just across the street!
The only bad things were;
We had 4 people in our room with two full sized beds. Too small. Not enough space. They should not allow booking for that. Even though you see the picture of the room, it's way too small when you see it in person. On my next visit, I will definitely book two adjoining rooms.
The pool: Though beautiful and set outside, it is extremely too small. If you get about 4 or 5 people splashing around at once, then OMG! The seating around the pool is enchanting; the view from the pool area is pretty nice as well, but just too small.
Parking: Be ready! The cost is extremely high, but I noticed that with all the hotels! Please be sure to set aside a little extra for the taxes. My guy only told me about the daily rate. :0(
Overall an extremely good trip! The hotel itsself is quite appealing!

The elevator would not stop, not only our key but other guest had the same problem.
Front desk insist it is where the key is stored. New key didn't work.
Acura experience very nice!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Stayfun72 Decent hotel, but expected a little more
Some fun upgraded W style features, and the rooms were a decent size. Expected the rooms to be classier. Carpet looked worn, old cottage cheese ceiling. Bliss bathroom products are wonderful and overall a decent bed to sleep on. Shutters or windows made sounds in the morning with sun or ac on them. Wished they blocked out more light.
Maid and concierge service was spotty, though helpful, nice, and decent when there. Some dust patches on the floor in the bathroom never got cleaned.
The restaurant food though tasty was too salty and buttery. I wanted to eat at the restaurant more, but this kept me from doing so. The coffee station was very convenient and they brew a good strong morning cup.
Layout allows people to enter who are not guests, without being seen by the front desk, and be ferried to upper floors to party. If not near a room doing this, pretty quiet and restful.
The location was perfect near both the warehouse district, Lee Circle, the riverfront, and the French Quarter.
Overall I'd say, though I had a few disappointments, I had a good stay,

The hotel is centrally located and convenient to restaurants, and convention facilities. The cooling system leaves much to be desired as I set it on 62 and it struggled to get to 70 despite it being in the 50s outside.

In the room the furniture was torn and the carpeting was worn and frayed. The sheets didn't fit the mattress and they didn't correct any issues such as the torn furniture or the short sheets during our 5 day stay.

First and foremost, you expect a clean bed and hot water for a shower. I received the latter but not the former. I was out of the room at 8 a.m. and returned at 9 p.m. to find the bed not made and the towels not changed. The gentleman at the front desk apologized and indicated he could have someone to the room in 10 minutes to clean it. I told him to forget it and just switch my status to green and award me the Starwood points. But what I would have expected was this not to have happened in the first place.
Speaking of clean--there were two pieces of black something on the bathroom floor when I checked in and no telling how long they had been there. I touched them and thy were loose so they should have been swept up.
In terms of the room: (1) The bed is comfortable for 1 person. A king bed has a queen or full size feather bed so it would be uncomfortable laying on the edges. (2) The bathroom paint is about the quality I would get if I asked my kids to paint--paint on the make-up mirror and cord, not cut-in properly in the corners. (3) the carpet behind the entry door doesn't go all the way to the wall.

I have stayed in many hotels in my day, and I have literally no idea how this establishment is allowed to have the star-rating that it does. Here's why: #1) When I checked into the room, the TV wouldn't work. You would have to turn it off and on at least 4 times to get the picture to show up on the screen. #2) The iPOD dock never worked, even after I asked them to come up and fix it. #3) There was trash in the hallway for the entire time that I was there (the same pieces in the same location) and last but certainly not least: #4) The bed was DISGUSTING. I slept in it not thinking that I should have to flip the comforter over to see if it was dirty, and well I really should have. Because on the last day, I flipped it over and it was very visibly covered in a bodily fluid that I VERY MUCH don't want to sleep on. If I can see it, then why can't housekeeping? It was revolting. Perhaps housekeeping would have seen it at some point in the trip but the room was only cleaned once, and they kept leaving a note on the door telling us that they were unable to "style" the room. Well if you can't "style" it can you please at least leave some towels, restock the coffee, and not give me a comforter covered in someone else body fluids?
