Rated 5 out of 5 by Ernie52 This hotel was great!
The hotel was very welcoming, with both decor and staff. Very clean, modern hotel. Staff is most curtious and helpful in everyway. Everything ran efficiently! Would definately recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Great location, full service hotel. Could use an update.. Ie, bathroom looks dated, had to play with shower to get it to work, great conference rooms and food, frustrating to insert key in elevator to get to your room.. Nevere seemed like the key worked, but perhaps it's needed for security,

Rated 3 out of 5 by LCS14 Good location, but hotel needs some work
We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights for a cheer competition. The location was convenient for the venue, and also wasn't a bad walk to the French Quarter. However, the hotel itself could really use an overhaul. The beds were not comfortable, the room was small and awkwardly laid out with the door opening right into an angled wall that contained the closet. Additionally, we had staff vacuuming outside our room at 7:20 am, with absolutely no apology. The last night of our stay the bar was closed for a private event, and guests were not notified at all. Housekeeping never arrived the last day of our stay until after 6:00 pm - who wants their room cleaned then?

Rated 2 out of 5 by MLvr Not W Standard
I have stayed in a number of W Hotels, and this was my 2nd stay in this one in the last 3 mo. I thought the first stay experience was a fluke, but this one was no better. Both times I had a malfunctioning lamp in the room that was never fixed. This time it was a main floor lamp. Mentioning it to the front desk never worked either time. This time I had to also catch the housekeeper to tell her, and they simply removed the lamp entirely, so half my room was dark for my entire stay. The SPG perk of bottled water NEVER happened. Four days of forgetting? One day my room was not cleaned until after 6 :30 pm. and even then, it was obviously not vacuumed. During both stays here I could not get the safe open because it was locked with an unknown code. Despite SEVERAL requests to have it opened, the hotel ignored them and never sent anyone to assist, so I had no safe to use. Both times! At other hotels, there is usually a concierge present in the lobby. After 2 stays (total 8 days) here, I only saw a Whatever/Whenever concierge at that station once. The desk was empty every time I passed it. The one time he was present, however, the concierges was helpful and suggested a wonderful place for brunch. A friend of mine will be going to New Orleans in a few months and asked if he should stay at the W. I was disappointed to have to say no, but I suggested to him another nearby one instead. All the other W Hotels I have stayed at were good, and the best was Taipei's. This one falls short of what was expected and did not even meet their own standards for an SPG guest. What is most disappointing is the multiple requests that went unanswered on both visits. I will not return to this hotel next time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by RandJK Big Easy Get Away
We used cash and points for a 4 day get away. The W is well placed for adventure into the Quarter, the Warehouse district and the Riverfront. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We had a great experience with two exceptions: the wifi was terrible and the parking is very expensive. But those were minor annoyances to an otherwise wonderful stay and a great getaway.

Rated 2 out of 5 by brandon219 Not what I come to expect from W. Very disappointed.
There are many issues with the look and feel of this hotel. The entire lobby area was ok at best. It's starting to show it's age. Our room did not look clean. It looked old and tired, maintenance had been poorly performed. For example, caulking around the tub and along the countertop were re-done by someone who clearly lacks the knowledge on how to do a good, clean job. The floor grout in the bathroom was heavily stained. A few tiles were cracked, one tile missing! The marble countertop was heavily stained. The room needed to be painted. No convenient outlets for plugging things in. Overall, not at all what I've come to expect from W. Very disappointed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by OSvisitor First time in New Orleans
The staff at the W were cheery and helpful and I liked the idea of green option although I did not see the benefits of taking this on my bill! Room service was unreliable but three separate trips to reception dealt with all requests and the nice reception staff made up for the lack of people answering the phone. The food was good and I had a great steak delivered hot to the room. The location was just on the edge of everything so it was possible to be both within walking distance but far enough away to feel relaxed. I'd stay there again but it helped not to get too stressed when things like the bathroom door handle fell off (one of the trips to reception).

Rated 3 out of 5 by BusTrav2014 Nice place to stay, extortionate prices for extras
I stayed at the W Hotel for 2 weeks. The room was great, very spacious and ample space to work on the in room desk. The bathroom was a good size.
Some downers, I decided not to order room service for any meals as the extras added upon the price for food are very very high. The meal nearly doubles in price.
The wifi is very very expensive. I would expect a hotel of this quality to offer free in room wifi in the way many in the same area do. There is free wifi in the lobby for 30 mins however I was very shocked at the price of in room wifi.
Overall, room comfort is great, but all extras are very pricey. The gym is good by hotel gym standards.
The hotel is slightly away from the hustle and bustle of the french quarter however for me this was a good thing. The nightlife is in walking distance and you can also get away from it and stay at the hotel when you need.
Staff are very very friendly and always helpful.
