Rated 3 out of 5 by Paying for internet service at this hotel Is not acceptable. At a "premier" hotel, one shou.ld not pay for internet at the hotel. I can get internet in the lobby for free (available to anyone - guest or not), but am suppose to pay $12.95 to use it in my room. Internet should be built into the price of the room. In the future, i will consider not staying here because of this. I am a SPG member - what good does that do me? May 12, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Overall great stay We had a "cool corner" room and it was quite spacious and cozy with great views of downtown. The bed was very comfortable to the point that me and my partner almost felt like we had separate beds when we wanted to sleep apart, yet still have comfort when we were close. The shower had one of those great rain heads that felt amazing. Only drawback would be the internet is a bit pricey for one day sitting at $12.95. Definitely understand they need to pay for it but maybe there could be an option to get a free or low price lower speed internet and then still charge that higher price for a high speed internet. Other than that it was a really fun time! March 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Always Great I usually stay at this hotel when visiting Minneapolis. The staff is helpful, the rooms are stylish, the food is wonderful, and the bed is great. I arrived early on a Sunday and they were able to accommodate me after an early flight. I really appreciated the valet staff helping me out in the pouring rain! The only issues I came across with this time around were some issues with the internet. On most days it wouldn't recognize my room number and prompted me for another room number so I had to speak with Tech support a few times. Also I felt that the room smelled a little, but nothing so bad that I needed to switch rooms. I've never had these issues before so once in awhile something will happen, so I understand, but honestly I love this hotel and would tell anyone to stay here! May 2, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Was I really staying at a W? Upon entering, I was quite pleased with the Lounge/Lobby but my displeaure started when entering the Fantastic suite -2801. The carpet was dirty; there were numerous smudges on the side table and couch; the bed looked liked someone was just on it and there were numerous runs/tears on the duvet making it looked so not inviting; the lamp fixture had indentions all over it ; and water pressure from the sink / rain shower were consistently low --turned off during mid shower. Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Hotel in Downtown Minneapolis The rooms were just like they were in the pictures, but the view from the 19th floor was absolutely amazing. The hotel was within walking distance of many places to eat and things to do which made it super convenient. I would definitely stay here again May 12, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Service was remarkable While on business travel I had the unfortunate experience of needing ER assistance due to a bad ankle sprain. The staff went out of their way to assist in getting the right care and to ensure that I was well taken care of during my visit at the hotel. Everyone was amazing and went well beyond normal service standards! Additionally, the hotel is in a great location. The Foshay has great legacy and the venue is a beautiful historical landmark. Thank you W Foshay and staff for making my stay feel welcome. You understand great service and represent your brand very well. April 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Englund in town We were warmly greeted by valet upon our arrival and the front desk staff members were highly accommodating to our needs. A generous upgrade was extended so that we would have ample space for a roll away. The room was fresh and clean and exceeded our expectations. Thank you for a great weekend as we were seeing our son off the Army. We will return to the W Hotel the next time we are in Minneapolis. January 7, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Hotel... Everything was great. Alex at the front desk was very helpful and was a class act! The guys who parked the car was right there to help and didn't have to wait at all. Thank you. matt weisbrod February 3, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic Customer Service The rooms at the W Foshay are of course very nice and the beds are the best, but the reason I will continue to return is the service. From the md oment I pulled up at the valet stand, I was treated with respect and courtesy. Each person who was a part of my stay went out of their way to make sure that I had everything I needed to enjoy my stay! I would highly recommend it! August 7, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Atmosphere, terrible soundproofing. All of the staff we encountered were wonderful. The concierge helped my fiance plan a surprise and make dinner reservations at Manny's Steak House for us. She really made the evening special. The food at Manny's was amazing! The drinks at Prohabition were great. The only things that could have been improved was the level of noise/soundproofing for our hotel room on the 18th floor and dusting. Every time a police siren, ambulance or fire truck came near the hotel it was obnoxiously loud. This kept both of us up all night. The elevator was also very loud. At first we thought it was planes going over the hotel. The refrigerator in our room was making a silence consuming electrical humming noise. Our room was not dusted. There was a layer of dust of the side tables, enough so that if you wiped your finger through it, it would leave a path. The entertainment, style and staff at the hotel were again fabulous. The soundproofing was not. We hope this gets addressed. We love going to the W Hotel for entertainment and atmosphere. May 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful, clean rooms! My boyfriend and I stayed at the W Hotel in the Foshay Tower for his birthday. It was my first time staying at this hotel. When we arrived, we were in a hurry to make a reservation time, and I was pleased that the valet was immediate and the staff at the front desk was very friendly, and super quick at checking us in. When we got to the room, I was amazed by the cleanliness and overall look of the room. The bathroom was spacious with many complementary, high quality toiletries for our convenience. The modern decor was fun yet comfortable. We were on the 19th floor so we had a breathtaking view of the city at night. We had a fun night out on the town and then returned to the lounge downstairs for some cocktails and dancing! At the end of a fun yet long night, we climbed into the most comfortable bed I have ever had the pleasure of sleeping in. I couldn't have been more pleased with the staff, the room, and the accomodations at the W Hotel. Thank you for a wonderful evening!! February 16, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Mixed feelings on hotel. The hotel room and lobby were very appealing, albeit, very dark - probably to a sexy vibe, but it was almost too dark. Secondly, on weekend nights, the main floor lounge turns into a night club w/ a DJ and bouncer, roped lines. Also, there's a bar on the top floor, which uses same elevator as the hotel room floors. I was a little concerned when I saw bar patrons getting off on hotel room floors just for the fun of it - wandering the halls of the hotel room floors. I was nervous when I was followed off the elevator, when I knew they didn't have a room on that floor. I didn't want to pull out my room key and open my room door; it was an uncomfortable situation for a single woman. March 24, 2014

Rated 4 out of 5 by Great hotel, lousy Internet service We had a great weekend a the Foshay, great restaurants in the hotel and nearby and a great staff. Now if they could only make the Internet work reliably we would have been able to read some e-mails too. November 20, 2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by Eh; not impressed for the price To be honest, I will probably not be coming to The Foshay when I travel to Minneapolis in the future. Since I traveled to Minneapolis on business and I traveled with a few colleagues, I didn’t want to raise any issues when I stayed at your hotel as there were a few of us on the trip. My room was close to the elevator and it was so loud that I was awakened multiple times through the night when the elevator was in use and when on back to back nights a few intoxicated folks got off on my floor, it was extremely loud. On the second night, a maintenance guy came to my room around dinner time and told me that he needed to change the lock/handle on my door. So, for a ½ hour I had to sit there while he had my door open, completing the work (why did he not wait until I left for the evening). Also, the heater/AC in my room took an hour (or so it seemed) to begin to work. As for the front desk staff, they were very polite and courteous so there were no issues there. I went away from Starwood properties over the past year as I travel frequently and this stay did not change my impression of the Starwood property chain(s). December 7, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic downtown location Excellent location and very attentive staff. The view from the 30th floor deck is utterly stunning! Wonderful city and great hotel. August 8, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Location, Downtown Landmark Stayed here for 2 nights while I was in town visiting friends. This hotel blew my away!!!! an awesome experience overall. Great room location, fantastic amenities, wonderful staff. Ryan and Brian at check in were fantastic. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in the downtown area. Rated 4 out of 5 by Besides some staffing issues, the hotel is great. I checked in with three colleagues for a week in April. We arrived at 8:40pm on a Sunday to a sweltering hot lobby with 8 people ahead of us in line. There was only one front desk person around with no manager or other staff around to help. The check in took nearly 45 minutes, not exactly what I wanted to do on a Sunday evening after a four hour flight.By the time we checked in, the line had reached the concierge area. During our stay I don't believe I saw a concierge one time. Also, I signed up for the make a green choice program which apparently means no cleaning all week. Most of the other Starwood hotels clean every third day, not the W - Foshay. The rooms were great, bed was a bit old and lumpy but the soundproofing was excellent. This is one of the few hotels where I got a great night sleep and didn't have to listen to people above or beside me or random slamming doors. Upon checkout the points were never awarded, the welcome platinum points were never provided, room night credits were never submitted. All four of us had to deal with the SPG program to get our points. I'm not sure if this is indicative of their poor staffing levels but certainly the hotel needs some help in following policies that all other Starwood properties seem to be grasp. Lastly, it's not really a complaint but my preferences do say "high floor" and I was on a low floor while my other non-platinum colleagues were on much higher floors. It just irks me. Our package included breakfast which was apparently interpreted to be a $15 credit per day. At the steakhouse they send you to that's about enough for an apple and a coffee. They should probably clarify what exactly is provided. If there were two people in my room the $15 would have only bought coffee (a little over $4.00 with tax). Location was great, lots of good restaurants in the area. May 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The Best in Minneapolis I've stayed in most all of the upper tier hotels in Minneapolis & the W Foshay is absolutely the best. Great staff, even better food (both room service and Manny's) make this a Hotel I look forward to - and I do not look forward to many. The location is terrific - just near the Nicolette Mall - and the architecture of the old Foshay Building gives the hotel a unique look. Highly recommended. April 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Enchanting experience My boyfriend and I wanted a romantic evening together and he decided to get us a room at the Foshay. We were both blown away by the experience. Everyone and everything exceeded our expectations. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The room was magnificent and had a spectacular view. You can order food at any time of the day and it is absolutely delicious. The front desk called us in the morning to warn us of the current weather conditions which was nice to know before making plans for the day. We loved our experience so much we decided to stay another night. I highly recommend this hotel for your next stay. February 23, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very Trendy Place The W was very pretty. The decor in the lounge and in the rooms was really nice. However, the sink is not very functional, I had to be extra careful when brushing my teeth not to get splash back. Also, the bathroom windows were really big and housekeeping would open the shade every day when they were cleaning up. Therefore, you had to remember to pull it down when you sleepily enter the bathroom in the morning. The fitness center equipment could have been a little better. The medicine balls were cracked and the touchscreens on the treadmills were not responsive at all. It took almost three minutes to adjust the treadmill to 5 mph. March 16, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful hotel in historic Art Deco building This is a beautiful hotel in downtown Minneapolis, housed in the Foshay Building, a historic building with a mini-museum and observatory deck on the 30th floor. It has a fun Art Deco theme, sumptuous beds, artfully decorated rooms and wonderful staff. We saw no children while there at this hotel, and with lack of pool and such, we surmised that was largely why it seemed to appeal to adults only. Sadly, we found out the night before we left, from a friend also staying there, that had we "gone green" (requested no towels in the room, etc), we would have gotten 500 extra points per day in our SPG account. But we weren't told about it when we checked in. Other than that, this was a stellar experience and I will return again! March 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by MY BIRTHDAY STAY! A truly wonderful birthday stay. Got a birthday cake from the staff who are more like family. Was upgraded to a beautiful suite. Ate my birthday dinner at Manny's. Try the fillet mignon its amazing. I would like to thank James, Lisa, DJ and all the other staff at the W for making my stay the best. I would also like to thank the engineering and Housekeeping staff for working very hard and doing a great job. The living room was fabulous and I would like to thank Jasmine for the best service ever. OVERALL: Fabulous Stay as usual. I recommend this hotel without reservation and will ALWAYS come back here for years to come. October 15, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Mixed experience Excellent room. Manny''s was outstanding for multiple meals and cocktails. Good location. Service was not at top level. Eg *. Upon arrival, multiple doormen were present and none offered to help us w luggage *. Text to valet park worked 2 of 3 times. One was lost * housekeeping was spotty. Housekeeper placed dirty glasses on the carpet just outside of our room that stayed for days. Turndown included new towels but no straightening of the room. * reservation had 3 different room rates. That was fine. But, this generated 3 confirms and 3 checkout emails which confused the front desk and us. Eg. We received 3 surveys via email. Poor coordination across the system. August 13, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice Hotel. Good Location. This was my second stay and I like this hotel - a classic look (apparently the Foshay is a landmark for the City). Staff was courteous. Rooms were nice. The view was great fro my room - pity I stayed just one night this time around. There are some decent restaurants within walking distance. April 20, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Decent Hotel; Needs a Refresh I was only in Minneapolis for one evening so didn't have the opportunity to explore all of the hotel's amenities, but I did visit the Prohibition Bar (very nice) and ordered room service for breakfast (exceptional food and unparalleled service). The only letdown of the experience was the rooms/corridors which seemed outdated and could use a refresh. I know that hotel products become outdated quickly, but the age and condition of room seemed well outside the typical W brand experience. The bed, however, was very comfortable. March 28, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great place Had nice bday here, loved the hotel and would come again one day. Would have been better if breakfast was included and if their was complimentary wifi in your room. Instead you have to walk down to the steak house and use wifi or wifi in cafe. Who wants to go 20 floors down or 27 floors down to do that. Everything you had to buy was very costly, even to park in all ramps. Every time you leave and come back it charges you $5 and $10. The Acura experience would be better if it dropped you off we're you wanted to go and picked you up, but you can only get dropped off one of the desk people told me. Over all it was a good experience. Should of had a pool and jacuzzi also. September 17, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Attitude without Aptitude The front desk staff at this hotel like to cop attitude and then does not deliver on service. So you work at a cool hotel--that does not make you cool. A sincere offer to provide service to a guest might endear them. February 7, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Are you kidding me Cleaning service coming in before 8am? Calling the front desk and being asked if I have the do not disturb sign up? Being told I should have the do not disturb sign up or it is expected. Check out is noon not 7:50am November 26, 2011
