I stayed at this hotel on Post Valentines Day
ROOM: Was a COOL CORNER ROOM. It was a cozy room but was absolutely not sound proof. The opening and closing of doors on this 21st floor could be easily heard in the room and if you are sleeping then you will be rudely awakened. If people are talking in the corridor by the room or the elevator then this can easily be heard in the room. A lot of people were talking loudly and arguing on this floor which was very uncomfortable.
W INSIDER: LISA is truly amazing and she does wonders for guest. Thank you very much for the balloons and strawberries that were sent to my room. I also want to thank you for introducing me to the living room manager and for arranging for a table at Manny's Steakhouse even though I did not have a reservation.
STAFF: I want to thank CYRIN for checking me in and JAMES for always being sweet, kind and helpful.
TOUR OF THE MUSEUM: I want to thank RYAN for arranging a special tour of the FOSHAY TOWER MUSEUM located on the 30th floor. Thank you CARRIE for taking me on the tour.
DINING; I dined at Manny's Steakhouse and the food plus the service was excellent. Thank you NICK for a great table, DAVE for stopping by to say hello, ALAN for always being nice and stopping by and my favorite hostess SAMANTHA for being so very sweet.
LIVING ROOM: Thank you for stopping by JASMIN. I highly appreciate everything that you do,
BREAKFAST: Try KEY'S RESTAURANT. They have amazing breakfast. I always get breakfast delivered to my room and have breakfast in bed as the place can be crowded. The fresh orange juice is amazing
OVERALL: A fantastic SPG hotel located in Downtown Minneapolis. Fabulous staff, and party all the time.I highly recommend this hotel and you should not miss staying here if you are in MSP.

We had no hot water (luke warm at best), the heating system was so loud (even when not running) that we couldn't get a decent night's sleep, and we were mysteriously charged $12.04 for Honor Bar items that we didn't consume.

Shower temp and pressure uncomfortable. Room service order was not correct, when attendant called to check on it, he was told about missing items and his response was "oh". Not a problem, just below expectation for W brand.

The rooms were a bit on the small side and water pressure left a lot to be desired but overall good experience.

Rated 3 out of 5 by TravellingBrownie Not exactly the best W
Checked in to the room and could still smell smoke from the last occupant. Called the FD manager who promptly came over and changed the room. However, last thing I expect from a hotel of this standard is something like that. The staff was kind nice enough to send a treat up to the room acknowledging the special event and changed us to a suite for the next day. I have stayed at quite a few W properties (Hollywood, Chicago, Atlanta, etc) so I guess I had different expectations. Don't get me wrong, its a nice hotel but not Hollywood or Chicago level. Actually quite a small hotel.
Not sure why all the Ws seem to be focusing more on the club and parties. I think it drives away the business travelers but it is what it is. It was actually pretty cheap which I was surprised to see so I guess that's a plus and the fact that its very conveniently located as compared to the Westin or Le Meredien.

Rated 1 out of 5 by YachtBroker Disappointing
The reservationist told me my room was on an upper floor with city views and when I checked in, my room was on the second floor with a view of exhaust vents which were loud even through the windows. On day two they moved me to an upper floor. The "Spectacular King" room is small. Bed, desk, TV mounted on the wall. You could not have fit an extra chair in that room. Bed was uncomfortable and the bedding was rough. Largest "Mini Bar" I have ever seen; but inclusion of condoms in the Mini Bar made me feel like I was staying at a seedy motel. Girl hanging out in the lobby hallway at 2:30 in the morning asked me if I "wanted to buy her something to eat". I think that dinner may have ended up with me in jail, so I declined and kept walking. "Town Car" service was inexpensive, but Town Cars were old and beat up. I thought I was going to treat myself to someplace nice while away on business, but was very disappointed and won't go back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Snowbird14 Comfort and Style Downtown!
From the minute you walk into the lobby, you are transported to a perfect get-a-way with the modern/retro look and fabulous historic features. The staff was friendly, we received an upgraded corner room for being SPG members and had a very cool view of the city from the 22nd floor. I would absolutely recommend requesting a high floor as I am not sure the lower floors would have the WOW factor. Our room was lovely and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in! Happy Hour at the Prohibition Bar was fantastic and affordable for the budget conscious. We enjoyed the Living Room to relax during the day and left the partying for the younger folks at night. The location can't be beat for access to the sky walk and the Theater District, as well as the Target Center and Baseball Field. We chose to park in the public parking ramp in the TCF building and it worked out quite nicely and was more affordable than the valet service. All in all I would be back in a flash to the "W" for a superb get-a-way experience in the heart of Minneapolis.

Rated 2 out of 5 by rachel0507 This hotel did not meet my expectations
I had extremely poor internet access this week. I emailed and got a response but eventually after the initial troubleshooting did not work I heard nothing. This was extremely frustrating and I question my desire to stay in this hotel again because internet connectivity is such an elementary need when traveling. Even worse, since the W lounge is akin to a 60's mod swinger's pad there is no way I could have utilized the public wifi for my work

From the time I initially contacted The Foshay to checking out, the customer service was above and beyond outstanding. Lisa Hearth provide a great deal of assistance as I planned the perfect evening. I would highly recommend staying at The Foshay for every and any event. Thank you everyone at The Foshay!!!

I was on a business trip. I stayed 2 nights. I have stayed at several W's and this was by far the best in customer service. Kenneth was the best. He remembered my name the entire stay and I was always greeted by Kenneth anytime I walked past the desk. He should be put on the fast track for a promotion. He is just a pure professional The person who checked me out when I was leaving was not as personable.

We stayed with another couple to celebrate a 40th Birthday. Everything was perfect from check in to check out. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the hotel was beautiful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a first class stay in Minneapolis.

Excellent accomodations and truly fun stay. They know how to treat you right here, trust me. The rooms are a bit on the small side, but that's the city for you. We had a cool corner room and it was great for our needs. I'll be back in a heartbeat.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Jen2012 Cleanliness was an issue
When we arrived there were glasses out in the hallway in front of our door. They were never picked up. They were still out in the hallway when we checked out. Also, the top blanket on the bed and one of the throw pillows had crumbs on them. Definitely not clean.
Lastly, when we received our bill we had extra charges from the mini-bar. They did remove them but I find it very annoying still. It was a little bit of a let down considering the price of the room.

Rated 4 out of 5 by WF789 Historic Building
If you're not from Minneapolis, please know that this hotel is a conversion. Use to be the historic Foshay building (I think it was an office building before they converted it) and now it's a W Hotel. Since this wasn't a W hotel built from the ground up, don't expect everything to be 100% W. The rooms are nice, but since the plumbing is old, the water pressure is low and sometimes draining is slow. Decoration and the staff is great. It's conveniently located in downtown and within walking distance to shopping and dinning destinations. Manny's Steakhouse downstairs is great as is the Key's. The hotel seems to get busier and busier since it opened in '08; it's booked quite often and my room was not ready yet at 2:00pm. Platinum used to get upgraded to suites pretty easily, but in the last 3 times I've stayed at this property, all the suites were full.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MarkTexNYC Good W, amazing historic building
My first stay at this W and was upgraded to a massive amazing suite on one of the top floors (thanks SPG Platinum). This W, like all of them, is nice.
- Room was clean, top quality linens, and of course my most loved Bliss products
- Hotel gym had no windows (and was always empty -- which was fine by me)
- Service average - nothing to write home about
- Cool museum on the top floor showing history of Foshay Tower (free for guests, great views)
The bar on the top floor is a bit stuffy and the two times I walked in had an older (40s, 50s) crowd -- seemingly biz folks.
Wasn't WOWed here like I have been at other Ws -- but I'd stay here again (assuming price is right).

Rated 5 out of 5 by KingDaddio Another fantastic W experience
It is becoming common place to expect outstanding service at the W Minneapolis - The Foshay. Upon arriving, I was upgraded to my favorite Wow suite. My favorite Keurig coffee was waiting for me along with chocolates and a bottle of wine.
Quite simply, I was Wow'd, again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by WorldTraveler73 Superb All-Around Hotel Housed in an Icon
Excellent hotel in all respects: super friendly staff (in the "nicest city in America"), terrific rooms (especially the suites), good location in the heart of the city and very inviting public spaces (both the Prohibition bar on the 27th floor and the Living Room Lounge, as well as Manny's Steakhouse Restaurant attached to the hotel). To top it all off, the hotel is housed in the iconic Foshay Tower, which has been beautifully restored to its the 1920's art deco grandeur. Make sure you check out the Foshay Tower Museum and Observatory on the 30th floor (admission is free with your room key).

Rated 2 out of 5 by Jordan1 Kind of let down
I frequently stay at the Foshay. The last few times I've stayed there I've been disappointed. On this stay I upgraded to a fantastic suite. Upon check in the hostess advised us the room was not ready and she would have our room cleaned asap. This was okay, we stopped over at Manny's to have a drink. About 45 min later we were allowed to check in. At first the room seemed great, however upon closer inspection it was anything but clean. Handprints all over the windows, headboard of the bed, mini-fridge, and leather sofa. It would be literally impossible for this to go un-noticed to a trained cleaning staff. My complaints were not addressed. This would be the third time I wonder why I pay so much to stay at this hotel.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Notsatisfied83 Service sub-par
I would not recommend this hotel. I stayed here on June 7th 2012 on the 21st floor. During my stay, I attempted to take a shower, the water was ice cold and wouldn't get warm. I then proceeded to talk to a member of the hotel staff to tell them my dilemma and they said they would check into it.
The next morning I attempted to shower again, It was still cold. I have never received such bad service, on top of that I was supposed to get a free breakfast from Manning's Steakhouse and was not granted that offer as well. The woman at the desk offered me a measly $25 credit for my bad experience.
A hotel is supposed to offer two guaranteed amenities, 1 a place to sleep and 2 a place to clean your self. I was only granted one of them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MinneapolisFan Always a great time!
We have used the W at The Foshay a number of times for weekend getaways in Minneapolis. We love having drinks at Prohibition at the top of the property and hanging out in The Living Room lounge near the lobby. Manny's Steakhouse offers a great dinner option and Keys restaurant is our favorite breakfast spot. We look at the property as a hotel, bar and restaurant all wrapped in to one. If you are visiting Minneapolis on a cold winter weekend you won't have to leave the property!.
The rooms we've stayed in have been smallish but clean. Bathrooms are spacious. We love the Art Deco vibe of the hotel.
The W at The Foshay has always met our needs and expectation although we think it may better serve weekend getaway travelers more than hard core business travelers.
