Rated 5 out of 5 by Exceptional stay I just completed a one month stay at the W and had an exceptional experience. From check-in to check-out, the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. I had the pleasure to get to know some of the staff in the W Lounge and would like to commend the professionalism of Vicky, Vasilia, Tim, Kieran, and Grace who warmly greeted me every evening. The Kitchen Table buffet breakfast was also a wonderful part of my morning routine. I will absolutely stay at the W Guangzhou on future travel to the area. Thank you for making me feel so at home. Rated 5 out of 5 by W Guangzhou! Stunning place! Very well managed property, from the GM, room division manager and F/B manager, I had a chance to speak to all of them. They have great PR skills which is what a W hotel supposed to be.... The hotel is clean, food is excellent and management is focus on details. A big difference with other W hotel such as Bali or Hong Kong. So thank you to all of you for this unforgettable stay, will be back soon. Warmest regards June 3, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by first W at Mainland China I did stay here at its 1st anniversary. Hotel met almost all my expectations except pool and mens lockers area. I am frequent guest at W Hong Kong. And HK has much better facilities comparing to here. My quality of sleep was ruined by strong construction sounds from outside started at 6 a.m. (!). I will wait with my next visit until this will finishes. Staff is perfect. Design is excellent. Rooms are mint. AND it has very good SPG Platinum lounge!!! May 19, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by One of the better Ws in the world The stay was in general very good. The check-in was efficient and the welcome amenity was very cozy and warm. Orine Zhang did a great job welcoming me back to this property. She also walked me around the hotel and passionately shown me new facilities since my last visit. Other staff are also very friendly and caring. Only two things were to improve to the room condition: 1. The A/C control panel on the wall is not "linked" to the actual A/C. Therefore my room was super cold and I had to call the engineers at 4am to block the vent. 2. After I shut down all lights and sound and prepare to sleep, the sound system of the TV and the reading light sends out noise. I could turn the sound system noise down by switching the system. But the reading light on the left top, even though the light is off, remains sending out noise. Besides these two issues, the entire hotel is as great as my previous stay, I'd love to come back on a heart beat. April 30, 2014

However, there are construction sites surrounding the building and it can be very noisy. There was a "squeaky" crane outside my window that woke me up at 6am everyday. April 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Makes you forget you are industrial GZ! What a brilliant hotel. Def worth the extra RMB to make my stay in GZ worthwhile. The roof pool, the spa, the room combined with some brilliant staff who sometimes stumble a bit with English, but more than capable at all times for my needs. I will not stay anywhere else now. Rated 5 out of 5 by The BEST W hotel I have stayed other than the construction (next building, which is not controllable), this I have to say, is the BEST W Hotel I have ever stayed, around the world. I usually don't like to stay at W's due to their strange designs (no bathroom doors, etc.), but the W Guangzhou really exceed my expectation in every way! Breakfast is great, room upgraded (always a plus), and staff are simply amazing...they always do one thing that you would rarely see in China...wear a smile on their faces... Rated 5 out of 5 by Breakfast at Kitchen Table is to die for This hotel met all my expectations. It's not only modern, but incredibly classy. The bathroom facilities in the room are amazing and, once again, the W delivered wonderful personal amenities, such as the bathrobes. The breakfast at the Kitchen Table was also unbelievable. Walking through the buffet was like exploring a new world; there's so much to choose from! I especially liked the 'Wake Up Call' -- a fresh juice blend that was just what I needed. Great job, W! Rated 5 out of 5 by Can not Recommend Enough This hotel is amazing. Stayed here for two weeks on business. As a platinum member was upgraded to a massive suite which made life much nicer. But the service is what stands out the most at this hotel. I had a cold during half my time here. Room service first noticed this and informed the front desk and kitchen who would then occasionally call to ask to see how I was feeling, send up free hot water, make me ginger+coke, etc. When our bags were lost by the airlines and the airline refused to send them to the hotel, the staff personally traveled to the airport to pick them up for us with no charge except for transportation. And here's the kicker. They took public transportation instead of a cab to "save us money." Now that's service. Would come to Guangzhou again just to stay this hotel. April 12, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Favorite Hotel In Downtown Guangzhou Almost perfect, except there is no direct connection point for ipod to the speakers and the staff at the W Lounge always seemed to be busy on his computer when we entered. No Perrier but only Voss (not sparking enough for me, or maybe for you too). Otherwise an excellent stay, you can not go wrong by staying at W Guangzhou. April 3, 2014

The Hotel we could not Fault in Comfort, Ambiance facilities or Restaurants Staff are Warm, welcoming and very efficient, making our stay an extremely enjoyable experience. Rated 5 out of 5 by BEAUTIFUL ASIAN AESTHETIC INTERPRETED W-STYLE OVERALL IMPRESSION: A design-lover’s paradise with 5-star standards in the heart of a city-of-tomorrow development. What more could you want? This is my ideal of what a W should and could be. SPG RECOGNITION: Excellent. Upgrade to a Fantastic Suite. Access to a superb W Lounge. In-room amenity. But the coolest surprise was a private invitation cocktail party for SPG elite (of which it seemed there were very few) in the ground-floor Woo Bar. THE ROOM: Enough high design, gadgets and glamour to keep me thrilled and enthralled for hours. The epitome of W-style but highly referential of Asian artistic values. LOCATION: Close to METRO stops which easily connect to the airport. A couple of minutes walk to the new city development where some of China’s best new architecture is on display. Surrounded by trendy shops and restaurants. EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS: I thought the presence of numerous members of staff at the SPG Cocktail Reception and their willingness to engage and spend time with guests is indicative of a well-managed property where the importance of keeping guests sweet is recognized. Rated 4 out of 5 by Could be a great hotel... Nice hotel and room with average service. Lacks the Wow factor you find in other W locations in Asia. We were in a suite with one shower and two bathrooms, neither bathroom had soap dishes and when I requested soap they sent up a bar of soap with no receptacle that I had to share between the two bathrooms. Seems pretty fundamental that someone would want to wash their hands after using the facilities....no? December 31, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice weekend at W Guangzhou Apart from W Taipei, this is the second W hotel I had ever stay. The great experience at W Taipei made me interested in this hotel brand. However, the room rate is generally high. Thanks for spg, this time I got a free night award, so the first W property in mainland China was my first choice to stay for a weekend vacation. Decor was not as stylish and chic as at Taipei. Staffs from different duties I met were polite. Check-in was smooth. Wonderful room was not as spacious as expected to be 50sqm. I liked the bathrobe so much which was very comfortable. As the weather was not good for sightseeing, I brought some blu-ray discs and the in-room blu-ray player was useful for me to enjoy for leisure. WET (swimming pool) was an indoor pool on 29/F, this was not a heated pool as described on website, but still adequate to swim. I appreciate their monitoring staff stayed outside the pool, which made the environment in pool area being more itimate and private. Only one sensor setting aside for a series of 3 jacuzzi seats, which was not convenient, enough and sensitive, water jet was also quite weak which have room for improvement. Indeed, I spent a great evening in WET, also had a overall great stay at W Guangzhou, hope I can be here when I am in GZ next time. December 16, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by New, Elegant and Clean Unlike W TPE or W HK, W GZ is kind of "Elegant" from the deign of its room. Got an upgrade to Spectacular room, however no view at all... not that "Spectacular" than W Taipei's Spectacular room. The pool is fabulous. It's my favorite place in W GZ. The gym however, is not fabulous. Change room is nice and no one using the hot bath when I went there. I feel like a king in Ancient Chinese Dynasty when I took a bath there. WOOBAR is also nice to hang out at. However, this year's Xmas tree is a disaster. December 16, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Friendy staff. Modern and chic hotel I love this hotel. This staff are very frienfly and out-going. In particular, Juliana who I believe is one of the managers, was very helpful when I was having issues with my room key. The rooms are clean and fairly large.Th area is currently under construction but all the neccessary tourist attractions are within easy walking distance. The club there is very lively with lots of beautiful people. The gym is well equiped with free weights and machines. December 15, 2013

Rated 1 out of 5 by Unfortunate W I thought I have found a Starwood gem in this New Town, but after my second stay I have decided to pass on it. My first stay was quite uneventful but I found its location a bit off the beaten path and the constructions around the hotel did not help either. The Executive lounge server was so apologetic for not knowing how to uncork a wine. The upgrade to a Fantastic suite was very nice and the hi-tech hardware is surely fun and well designed. The mechanics of the electric curtains are the most quiet and smooth I have ever used. The bedside lights control are so well designed that it only lit up when it's being touched.. Unfortunately, my second stay was close to a total disaster. I was awaken by heavy party music at 3 AM my first night and upon calling the operator was asked to check if my bathroom tv was on, which was a good first check. They have then found out that my neighbor downstairs have apparently started a party in the wee hours. The cigarette smoke was so heavy that I can even smell the odor in my room. I was offered a 6 PM late checkout which I declined. They were not able to contain their guests until after about an hour of phone calling and banging on their doors. The day front desk manager only offered an apology and they do not give you compensation points as in the US properties. Upon check out, I asked for an official receipt and was given only the amount for the second night. I then asked for the total amount and the receptionist quite rudely accused me "haven't you got it already." That was my first and only check-out of the entire stay. The bellmen really need some education. I left with luggage trying to go to the train station and asked for a cab. I was politely told to step aside to the taxi queue where I was the only one in line. Another dressed-in-black guest showed up asking for a cab as well and just stood by the curbside. When a cab came and the other guy just jumped in without a word, I argued with him and the bellman said let him go and that the guy had asked for a cab before I did. I told him that he was lying and there was no one in front of me when he asked me to queue up. If in fact the other guy was there first, the bellman should have politely informed me that there was another person ahead of me. My experience with this W is that it has a lot of suspicious guests and staff acquainted with it. There are a lot of other nicer and safer hotels in New Town and that's where I'm heading next. Rated 5 out of 5 by Outrageously Fantastic Hotel ! I have stayed at lots of W hotels all around the world and most are OK. This one is by far my favourite. I had a marvellous suite and it really was marvellous. In my head this is how a stay at a W should be. It's exciting, it's fun it's cool. Stunning decor and an interesting view, Staff friendly and communication with them is easy. Room was so clean, bathroom a delight. First tv in a bathroom that you can A. See, B. control without a remote, whilst in the bath. I had room service for breakfast and lunch, sitting on my huge terrace and it was a fantastic experiance. Excellent hardware as well as wonderful services/management - great staff : friendly and helpful, especially (but not only) the executive lounge staff - nice platinum member suite UG: excellent rooms and facilities. The executive lounge on the 26th floor is beautiful and comfortable. - location is convenient: around the new CBD and easy to arrange my meetings. The street behind has a lot of pubs and restaurants - good breakfast buffet (2/Floor) and evening happy hour November 15, 2013
