Rated 2 out of 5 by LEVEL OF SERVICE The check in staff are not friendly. They barely make eye contact with me at check in. The reception was cold and the staff actually yawned. This was in the early afternoon. Next, the wrong bags were brought to my room. None of the bags brought in the first time belonged to me. This is alarming and most disturbing. January 30, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Hotel Great hotel. Direct view of Taipei 101. The room is the most thoughtful and well-planned featured rooms I have ever stayed in. The toilet is fully automatic and I miss it already. LOL. The hotel design is suited to the young and vibrant. Kudos on such a great hotel! January 29, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Some goods and some bad Hi, If this wasn't the "W Hotel," I would say that it was excellent. However, it is and I witnessed some great staff help and some poor. I made a mistake reserving a room. Instead of reserving a room for one night, I reserved an entire week. I didn't mean to do this and didn't realize that I had made the mistake. I was notified two days later via email that I cancelled the room. I know there's a lot of traffic that comes through the W hotel, but two days notification is a little extreme for such a high valued hotel. I then called the try to fix my situation. I had a horrible time talking to the reservation girl. I know that we are in Taiwan, and English is a second language here, but I couldn't understand her due to her accent and she didn't speak loudly and clearly into the receiver. Another surprise from such a high valued hotel. I didn't want to be rude but I had to ask her multiple times to speak louder. I then came down to the hotel to speak to the staff in person. They instantly helped me and fixed the problem with only a minor cancelation fee. I was very happy about that. My stay was great and I had a great time. I loved the breakfast. Please tell the clerks at the reservation desks to speak INTO the phone. I know that they may be shy but there comes a point where I get annoyed to keep having to tell the staff to put the phone by their mouth and not have it hang idle while they use the computer. Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice and funky, but misses some points To be clear, this is a very good hotel, but for the rate, there were a few misses: 1. No turn down service 2. Housekeeping didn't tidy up the place adequately - ironing board left out instead of putting back into cupboard. The design, whilst funky, misses on the ergonomics, particularly the bath counter. The sink is too low (lower than waist height, which means you need to bed down considerably) and doesn't work for right handers due to the tap design and location (OK, this is good for lefthanders). The shaving mirro is off to the side, so you can't shave and wash your blade at the same time. And the dresser is off to the side of the mirror, so you can't do your hair / makeup while seated. Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent location, extraordinary service I had a 3 night stay in Taipei with my family of 4, 2 of which are under the age of 5. We picked the W Hotel because it is conveniently located above the Taipei City Hall MRT station, not to mention that there's a shopping mall underneath. The hotel has a very modern and chic feel and offers a very different vibe. The lobby is located on the 10th floor and offers very convenient access (less than a 15 second walk) to the checkin counters and elevators to the room. In addition, the buffet restaurant is also located near the elevators, which was very convenient when travelling to and from the room with little children. The room itself was nicely decorated, clean, and comfortable with amenities you'd expect from a 5 star hotel. Love the fact that as an SPG member you get free Wi-Fi access around the hotel which was useful for us in using the Internet to plan our way around Taipei. Lastly I'd like to comment on the exceptional service. Everybody on the staff that we encountered, whether in the hallways, at the restaurant, or at the reception/concierge counters were extremely courteous, polite, and made us all feel very welcome. Normally, this is something I don't really remember, but even after we departed Taipei, my wife and I recounted to others how great the service was. When our 3 year old was acting fussy on the way out of the hotel, a staff member noticed and asked if we'd like to borrow a stroller to use for the duration of our stay. That attention to customers and their needs is what makes the entire experience very memorable. I highly recommend this hotel, and we'd gladly stay here again the next time we are in Taipei. Rated 2 out of 5 by Has theme, but lack of details Stayed in Marvellous suite. Staff is polite and friendly. Big space, However, hardware wise failed. Accessories lack of details to produce comforting experience. Sharp door and towel handles cause pain, edgy desk whose corners already broken, long and uncomfortable sofas, small hand washing basin, and splashing everywhere water faucets. All these show that design of this hotel misses the core very badly. Why I chose this hotel was mainly the location, hotel supposed to be good, and in shopping area. January 10, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Exemplary service Unfortunately I arrived at the W Taipei with a bad cold and a fever - upon check-in Maggie at reception noticed and sent a tray of hot water, lemon, honey and orange juice to the room. Truly wonderful service! The Whatever/Whenever service was also fantastic, bringing an icepack later that evening. Despite the illness, I had a very memorable stay at the W Taipei and will surely be back, hopefully sans illness! January 7, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lost n Found It had been my most memorable stay at W Taipei the past weekend. First left my passport wallet in the taxi. Staffs at G/F concierge really helpful on checking the CCTV then asked the taxi driver to return to the hotel for further searching of the wallet. By the time we were filing the report at the police station, W staffs searched the entire trunk and underneath the seats. Too bad they came up with the wallet, so we would definitely be staying at W for longer period. Second, the housekeeping staffs found my unpacked iPod on the bedside table after we checked out in the morning. We really appreciate your staffs integrity and honesty. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great hotel! W Hotel Taipei is one of the best hotels I've stayed so far of the SPG hotels. Beautifully decorated, very chic and modern. Most impressive is the toilet which provides a fully automated toilet bowl making me feel like I was back in Japan, really nice. However, there were still slight disappointments during my stay. One of which was that the swimming pool was closed as I have been anticipating to use this swimming pool. Another thing that I had to pick on was that the room's kettle could be better situated or "wired" such that it's easier to use. Last but not least, I must commend the staff of W Taipei. They were really warm and friendly. Before we even reached the doorstep of the hotel, two staff already came to us seeing us dragging our luggage and helped us with the luggage as well as lead us to check in. The Whatever, Whenever service was also fantastic as I had requested for paper bags and more tea which were all given to promptly. Kudos to the service level for W Hotel Taipei and I thank you for the great stay! January 4, 2013

The staff at the concierge and cafe have all walked an extra mile to serve their customers!! They are not just doing their jobs!! They show respect at what they are doing! Rated 5 out of 5 by Incredible Hotel- No other words can describe it!!! First of all, the location is incredible for shopping. It is at the center of everything with a complete mall within the building as well. The service was beyond reproach. We felt like we were special guests of the owner. Every wish was catered to. We returned from shopping after the hotel restaurants closed so we enjoyed dinner in our room. It took 30 minues from phone call to knock on the door with our order and everything was perfect. They offer the complete menu 24 hours a day. The T-Bone was so thick and perfectly cooked, the shrimp, sauteed mushrooms and creamy spinich were also incredible, but the deserts OMG, they made our day then we had the concierge set us up with a massage at a local respectable place at midnight after we were done eating. We were bent on seeing and doing everything before departing for home the next afternoon.The inside of the hotel made us feel like we were wisked off to some far away paradise. I have never been so amazed at the room let alone the hallways as to take a picture, but seeign is believing. You absolutely have to stay in this hotel. They had models taking pictures and special shows...just too much to describe. December 29, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Only one cons of W Taipei I enjoyed staying W Taipei from 17th to 19th Dec. Room was upgraded to Sweet room and I was impressed because it was well organized design and great space. The only one cons was bowl in Restroom. The faucet outlet is out of center of bowl and it was in the edge, so when I wash hands water went easy to notoriously off the bowl and spreded around bowl. I have to clean water every time after washing hands and it was made me exasperate. I think it is very good design, but good design must be a good for user. Hope it will be remediated in near future. Rated 4 out of 5 by Hotel with a buzz Without a doubt, this hotel has a buzz, in the main entrance level, at the lobby on the 10F, in the gym, at the pool, at the bar, you name it. If you are looking for a quiet break, the only quiet you will get is in the room. Everywhere else has an energy about it....good and bad, depending on your needs and your interest. Personally, it works for me because there enough of the quiet when and where I need it e.g. at the gym and the restaurants on the upper level. But other comments....there must be something right missing, right? In the past, there was an option of different types of pillows in the room (you could call for the type of pillow you fancy based on a pillow ‘menu’) but this has been withdrawn with nothing to replace this great feature. Also, in the past, they would offer a little fruit basket together with a few chocolates in a champagne glass. This has been replaced with 3 test tube looking containers containing M&M candies and nuts. This is funky looking but definitely not for me....if cost is a consideration, hotel should offer guests option of fruits or candies. Not everyone fancies candies /nuts. Fruits are a healthy and harmless option. Next is the liquid soap. When one bottle is half used, for goodness sake provide an additional new bottle. Otherwise, for people like me who showers twice a day, I run out of soap in the morning….. Newspaper as well….please ask when checking in what is the preferred newspaper…not everyone reads International Herald Tribune (yawn). One of the more expensive hotels around but great all round hotel otherwise! December 15, 2012
