My daughter had her wedding on New Year's Eve at the "W". It was fantastic. The staff helped make this a dream come true for my daughter and her new husband. The facility was elegant and everyone was extremely attentive to all of our needs. If I had another daughter, she would get married at the "W" too. Thank you.

Lobby is too small to hold partys in or get-togethers. A fire hazzard waiting to happen..you can not get into the hotel or out when they have these functions. Nearly impossible to hear the converstaion with the front desk or the concierge, can not get to the elevators. The rooms are dated and they dont have normal amenities, like a cofee maker. All-in-all I would recomend another hotel..this place is trying to hard to be cool to all of the wrong groups.

I was in Chicago for two nights and the W was the most convenient SPG property for my meetings. From the moment I arrived and through my departure, the hotel staff provided exceptional service. Of particular note was the staff at the front desk and restaurant (including room service). My only issue is that I still have trouble with the limited surface area of the bathroom countertop. Convenient or not, I have decided to make the W Chicago - City Center my hotel of choice whenever I am downtown.

I was put in a downgraded small room, and all they offered in compensation was 500 starwood points, which was not sufficient.
There was loud train noise in the room from the local L train and it was really loud and disruptive to my stay.
When I addressed this upon checkout to the hotel staff, their response was "We hope it's better next time…thanks".
There probably won't be a next time at this hotel. I am a Startwood Gold member and there was no service at this hotel and I paid $250 for a bad room with a train running through it.
I reallly have enjoyed W properties in the past, and was really disappointed with how they handled my stay this time.

This was my second time staying at the hotel, and it was another solid stay. The hotel is well situated in the business district, and well-positioned for a 2 hour walk to see some stunning architecture in the loop! It's also close to the metro and the L train.
My room was big, and had a comfortable desk to work on. Bed was super comfortable and there was a walk-in closet (awesome!). Internet connection was really good. All-in-all the room was perfect.
I'd like to give a special thank you to Erwyn who checked me in. He also found me a "normal" hairdryer so that I could do my hair properly. Thank you!

This hotel blends good amenities with a great vibe. Parking rate is over-the-top at $60/day, but otherwise we enjoyed our stay and liked what the hotel had to offer.

The staff is terrible, by far the worst experience I have ever had a hotel before. The staff will treat you like crap; the only thing that made this hotel somewhat tolerable was the manager Chris. Chris did his best to try and turn our experience around but it did not work.

Hotel was all about the bar and did not care as much about the loyal SPG members. Concierge had his own agenda and was not helpful.

I am writing this on sunday at 4:30 pm waiting for someone to show up to clean my room. It seems they forgot to do so today.
My room card had to be replaced four times in four days because it failed to work (no, it wasn't near my phone)
I ordered coffee from room service at 4:15 and was told it would be there in 15 minutes. 30 minutes later I had to call to find out where it was.
the early morning staff couldn't give me directions, once they appeared from the back room.
the gym in this hotel is substandard. the equipment
is dated and in ill repair. Does anyone even care?
The hallways on my floor, 22, go days without vacuuming. I finally had to pick up the debris myself,
Besides that, its a fine establishment. I will never be back.

I have stayed at this W before and not had similar issues, but there were a number of problems with my stay this time:
First, the clerk at the desk offered me a "quieter" room overlooking the interior courtyard, or a room with a nice view of the city but where I might here the El. I chose the latter. To my surprise, the room had no view (it actually overlooked the interior, but I also heard the El.
Second, the heating controls did not work properly. You could reset the temperature and it would go on for a few minutes, but then it would not stop and would not re-engage to maintain the correct room termperature.
Third, the bed comfort was just ok. I have stayed at many Westins where they have been great. This one was not, and the bottom sheet kept coming out.

The hotel is in a great location and sadly thats the only nice thing I can say about my stay. After being ignored at check in for over 10 minutes, I was handed a key to a room. Upon entering the room, it was obvious from the strewn trash and the unflushed toilet full of urine that the room had not been cleaned. Upon contacting the front desk, I was given a different room. The remainder of my stay I noticed an overall lack of cleanliness with the hallways only cleaned intermittently. I was at the lobby of the hotel when it began to down pour, I asked the concierge if we may borrow an umbrella to which he responded there is one for purchase in your room. Not what I would expect from an SPG hotel of this standard. At check out, I was once again left standing by an empty reception area for someone to arrive. I mentioned it to the concierge that was within eyesight of my location and all he could say was that someone will be with you. Another 10 minutes passed and no one arrived, I asked the concierge if he may actually call on someone to help the ever growing line of people to which he got off his personal cell phone and called someone. Will not stay here again, travelers beware.

The room was clean, but the lobby and lobby bathrooms were trashed. The drinks at the lobby bar were ridiculously expensive. The morning after our stay the lobby was trashed with beer bottles, bottle tops and cigarette butts all over the floor. The lobby bathrooms were trashed and no cleaning was happening until after we left the hotel, which was 7:30 am. Coffee was also not available until after 8 am. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. For the price we paid, everything should be neat and clean and services should be offered early.

My husband and I were SOOOO excited to stay at this hotel. It was our anniversary, and I put that in the notes on the reservation, it was not recognized at check in. I was asked at check in if I needed her to go over the information about the hotel, and I was like ahh yes of course. Not engaging at all. We were put in a room in the corner by a creepy fire escape!! I had to ask to switch rooms....mind you it was our anniversary. Get to the new room, and did not notice until daylight the next day that we slept on a dirty cover!! I spoke with housekeeping and security (they sent him up with housekeeping), a front desk person, and the front office manager and NOT ONE PERSON OFFERED ANYTHING as far as service recovery. I asked if anything would be done and the Front office manager gave me his card and told me that the next time I come in to town give him a call. What makes you think I'm going to stay there??? Very disappointed!!

The W city Center, in the heart of beautiful chicago is my favorite hotel to stay in. It is beautiful, the rooms are clean, the staff is friendly. This hotel is well worth it.

I am not a big fan of this hotel unless I get put in a Spectacular room or above because the bathrooms are so tiny, among other issues I've had at this hotel with rooms.
However, the staff at this hotel truly make a difference! Tyler Smith is the most pleasant front desk person you will meet. He almost instantly remembered me and on my next visit anticipated my needs. He always gave me extra bottled water, remembered my name and did it all with a smile! Tyler is an asset to SPG. It is rare to find such pleasant hospitality employees that can recognize and anticipate a guests needs. Good job, Tyler!

I liked the 'cool' feel of the decor but it did make me feel a bit dizzy and sleepy, given that it is so dark. Not so sure that a 'club' feel is appropriate for a business event.
While the sink in the bathroom of my room was cute, it is practically nonfunctional. It is so small that when you lean to be over it when brushing your teeth, your head hits the faucet. I would also suggest shelves over the toilet for your guest to use for their toiletries as there is little to no counter top space.
Your staff was very helpful and professional.

I had a bad impression from the hotel at the start. When our taxi pulled up the doorman grabbed my bags out of my hand when I explicitly told him no. My girlfriend and I had carry on luggage only. While we were telling him to come back the taxi left with my girlfriends leather jacket in the backseat which we will never get back. Hotel security couldn't help us out with locating the cab number or license number. My sister sent us a gift through the concierge service but they failed to deliver it. My sister had to check up with them over the phone, then call me to call to the front desk twice to get her gift delivered to the room. The room itself was much smaller than what was advertised on the website. In regards to the concierge desk, I was disappointed with the service both over the phone and in person. In person, the woman on duty could not be disturbed from a conversation with another staff member to help answer a question I had. Ended up waiting for her to finish talking to co-worker before acknowledging I was there. Concierge desk also said they do not make reservations on behalf of guests which I found strange. Another request for safety pins for my girlfriend (we were attending a wedding) took multiple calls into the front desk and a 40 minute wait.
I am not usually one to nitpick, but for the ridiculous cost per night, I expect a level of service to match. I will not be using the W again when I travel to Chicago and I will not recommend to family or friends.

Great hotel for a short weekend vacation. Always have been a fan of the W Hotels and this one met my expectations as well. Debated between this and the W Lakeshore in Chicago. Ended up staying here and was easily in walking distance to many area amenities. Will be trying the Lakeshore on my next visit!

The bathroom smelled mildly of urine. The air conditioner made a continuous, loud CLUNK sound. The bathroom outlet did not work. The room was the size of my freshman dorm room. Internet was $15 per day to use in room, a ridiculous price. RIDICULOUS for how expensive the room rate is. No room refrigerator. No ice bucket. Annoying.
Otherwise, good location next to the subway. Stylish atmosphere. Very kind and friendly staff. I was impressed with that. Super comfy bed and pillows.

The check-in & check-out personnel need to be better trained. There was a lot of confusion during these stages of the stay. Also, these persons don't make you feel welcomed, but it seems like they frustrated with the registration system, which shows in their interactions with customers.
