Rated 4 out of 5 by Fran47 We enjoyed the hotel and the contemporary design.
Staff was great, room comfortable and grounds (especially outdoor patio) was inviting. Only drawback was the noise from the planes flying directly overhead at low altitude for the Charleston airport.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Dancer68 This hotel is unique and fun!
We loved the layout of the room with plenty of space for lounging. There was a wall mounted TV, a loung underneath, two large windows, desk area under one window and counter space under the other, nice division between sleeping and bathing areas, all modern features. It was very comfortable except for the lumpy comforters. (They looked bad, but were fairly comfortable.)
However, we would recommend the Aloft to anyone!

Rated 1 out of 5 by BowTieMafia the "a" in aloft is for "Apathy"
Booked a quick getaway to Charleston this past weekend. Checking in Friday night we discovered that the sliding glass door to the bathroom was broken and off the sliding mechanism. I advised the front desk three times over two days and the door was never fixed. The dried boogers on the wall in the entryway was a nice touch as well. I took pics to share....Below expectations for cleanliness and poor customer service in addressing a broken sliding door. Would not recommend and will not return.

This is the third time I have stayed at an aloft . . . I am not a big fan of the food service concept. I like the convenience of the pick up food, but would prefer a limited morning buffet for breakfast that should be included in the room rate.

Was with a group so I understand they were busy but...overall experience not good. No breakfast (hour wait) Room could have been cleaner. Shower and bathroom just OK...had to flush toilet 3-4 times after each use. No ice machine on floor. Our stay was on the 5th so it was inconvienent. For the price I will not stay again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by TASH Things didn't work!
The room was very clean but unfortunately the hair dryer was broken (which was replaced), the tv hookup to the wii (using proper hookups) did not work, the aircondioner couldn't cool the room enough. We rented a movie that was billed at $18.39!!! I never have spent more than $12.00 for a movie anywhere else! Being a Gold member I requested a late check out and got a lot of grief about it from the staff. I've been an spg member since 2002 and never had an experience like this.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Sandpiper Should offer free breakfast with stay
My only fault was that I thought I was also paying for free breakfast. At check in we were told that breakfast was not free with our rate. If we wanted to
eat breakfast we would have to pay 6 dollars per person. Last time we stayed breakfast was included, so I have eaten the breakfast. I am not putting the place down but it is more what you get on a free breakfast. It is surely not what you would want to pay for. Most hotel breakfast's are that way and I have always thought that is why it is free. It is just convenient, so you eat it. We usually stay at another chain and they always offer free breakfast, and we like that. The hotel is very much the same as the Aloft. There's is not that great either but it is always included in the stay. I think this is something we should have been told at making the reservation.

The initial presentaion of the hotel and friendly staff had me excited about trying this property during my travel. I like the modern look and feel overall but my room was in need of repairs and finishing of the walls and ceilings. The carpet had multiple stains as well as the top bedding which change my thoughts of extending.

Staff seemed young and impatient and unsure of how to handle the simplest tasks. It's a customer service job so the customer should have the persons full attention without them talking loud or being absolutely clueless. More companies these days are taking out the training component of jobs thinking, "how hard could it be?" Obviously, pretty hard. It is an art to make someone feel appreciated for spending their money while taking care of the administrative duties.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Disa Disappointed - we wasted valuable SPG points
Aloft was not the focus of our stay in Charleston; thus our experience at Aloft was limited. Basically, a place to shower and sleep for two days. We did not interact with the staff very much as we were gone early and returned evening. We did not use/experience any of the amenities.
We were very pleased with any/all of the staff that we encountered. Very professional, courteous, helpful, and eager to please.
Don't understand why Westin/Starwood offers the ALOFT brand? Lots of glitz, low end infrastructure and appointments .As it concerns our room, we don't need to detail, just note that when you invest/furnish with inexpensive, a lot can go bad, and it did. We do not know if the amenities are likewise problematic?
Our SPG recognition was in keeping with our experience.
Again, our main needs for sleep and shower were met. Our expectations may have been too high?

Rated 2 out of 5 by January18 A ok stay
I arrive to the hotel to only find that my double bed room was already taken. To make up for this the front desk staff gave me free breakfast & drinks at the bar, thanks I guest but I still had to share a one king size room with three grown women. Not to mention one of my guess had to sleep on a blow up mattress that deflated twice, needless to say she slept on the floor. After calling the front desk multiple times they moved me to another room that had two beds.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Susan72 Looks cool but isn't very comfortable.
The staff was very friendly but the room left a lot to be desired. There was only one chair for starters. There is not enough room for clothing - no drawers and only a shallow area to hang things. The ironing board was really cheap and the iron didn't work very well. The mirror on the door into the bathroom was broken. The internet connection was slow and unpredictable. The mattress support stuck out over the mattress and we all bumped our shins on it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by fltraveler Always a nice stay
We have been staying at the Charelston Aloft at least once a year since it opened and love it. The staff is incredible and always willing to exceed expectations. I would like to mention that this time we noticed some minor maintenance issues but figure it best be brought to the hotels attention to ensure these items are addressed. There were numerous lights out in the elevator, the shower handle was loose and the lock to the shower area was gone.

Rated 3 out of 5 by DrewS22 Nice but showing some wear
This is a standard aLoft configuration. Staff was very friendly especially the bellman and bartender. The fancy coffee machine was broken and no one seemed to want to do anything about it. The treadmill in the gym needs service. Facility is showing wear (e.x. headboard in room had a rip, walls in hall showing marks from carts, etc.). As the only Starwood property in Charleston, it will do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by FreqTraveler Wonderful Surprise - Amazing First Stay!
For our first time staying with ALOFT we were blown away. As a young couple, we felt all of our needs and interests were met to make us feel very special on our "mini-vacation." Your front desk staff was very accommodating and sweet, and your housekeeping staff was always friendly and warm.
I travel often for business, and I wish that I was sent to Charleston more often because of your property. We can't wait for our next visit!

Rated 2 out of 5 by DTPJoe Style, no substance
The room TV didn't work, the shower pressure was weak, the water temperature never got above lukewarm in either the shower or the sink, the bed hurt my back and the breakfast (limp sausage links, cold eggs and stale bagels) cost $6.00.
I'm a frequent traveller and I can tell you that the nightclub-lobby atmosphere and stylish rooms mean nothing, and are actually an insult, if you can't get the basics right. I won't be back.

I was not swept away by this Starwood property. Room was slightly dirty. I was sitting at the desk working on my computer and a cockroach walked right up on the desk and over the backside, a litte distrurbing and disgusting. The hotel was a bit loud as well, but I was 2 doors down from the elevator. The workout facility and checkin was great. Overall I probably wont be staying here again or recommend the property.

Hotel is a 15 min drive to downtown Charleston. Aloft is also surrounded with many outlets stores & restaurants. My dog really enjoyed his stay! Michelle at front desk welcomed my dog with a stuffed toy & treats, & hug! Front desk staff very accommodating& friendly! .I was ok without any draws to put my things away, but wished there were more hooks or shelves to put my clothes & things on. We enjoyed our stay!

Rated 4 out of 5 by cwilliam Very Disappointed with check in
We love staying at Aloft's but I don't know what was happening at the Charleston, SC one on Friday, November 23rd because check in was 3:00 pm and we didn't get our room until after 5:00. All we were told was that management was up cleaning rooms. We've never had this problem before. We also waited 45 minutes for the shuttle bus to pick us up from the airport that can't be 3 miles away from the property.

Rated 3 out of 5 by EastCoaster Very Clostrophobic
The decor was funky, but the room itself was very small. I couldn't have spent more than 2 nights there. Room was clean, bed was comfortable and had the necessary amenities. My hair dryer would stop working every 3 minutes .. very frustrating .. then I gave up drying my hair. Pool table in lobby was a "fun" feature. No food, per say .. only a few items at breakfast. It felt like a motel. No jacuzzi.

Rated 5 out of 5 by FLgirl1 Awesome "modern" accomodations.
I had never heard of A-Loft prior to my stay, and just happened to come across them as a SPG member. Next time I travel, my first choice will be A-Loft.
I was pleasantly surprised by the new modern hotel - definitely a PLUS to the industry. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay! Both the accommodations and interaction with the staff far exceeded my expectations.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Brimkat Get rid of the mobile clothes rack!
The staff was very helpful, and friendly. The rooms were not so much as I expected. The ceiling in my room looked like it underwent a terrible repair job, and there was this hideous looking mobile clothes rack that I have never seen in any Aloft that I have stayed in before. That thing was as much of an eye sore as the ceiling, it should be removed to make the room more aesthetically pleasing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Judith Easy location to get downtown
I. Love Aloft Hotels". This one exemplified their usual standards of cleanliness, efficiency and comfort. You can eat there, drink at the bar, workout in the awesome exercise room or swim laps in the pool. I like the efficiency rooms and modern decor. The only con was no shuttle to downtown, but it was easy to drive there, a big plus was the great shopping at the Tanger Outlets right nearby!

Rated 3 out of 5 by eppalex Good location
Room needs better window coverings . Also if the room has a connecting door , the noise from the next room is very audible.
Otherwise, it 's a nice enough hotel. Handy for walking to the Tanger mall as well as some restaurants.

I tell you what, after visiting this Aloft location, I plan to stay at more Starwood hotels. As soon as you walk in the door, the pleasant smell takes you to another place. I forgot about the stresses of the day, and looked forward to seeing what this hotel had to offer. I just cannot explain how pleased I was with the service and my room. It was quiet and I did not want to leave.

Upon arrival, I was extremely pleased with the look and feel of this hotel due to the modern facilities and lobby. Awesome bar, lounge area with a fabulous pool and fitness center. This hotel had it all and very appealing rates as well. Also, the location was very close to the airport and Outlet malls for convenient shopping. Also, had a free shuttle at your disposal.
