Rated 3 out of 5 by Vbnick Brown tap water
Never a good sign when you go to brush your teeth and the water from the tap is brown, yes brown. Granted it cleared up after about 30 seconds of the water running but sure doesn't leave a vote of confidence. Having flashbacks of being out of the country. . .
Also, and perhaps a bit petty but for an 18 dollar movie rental to be in standard definition is unacceptable this day and age. I don't expect UHD but at the least high definition as the min. standard, heck it was 18 bucks!
Too bad this is the only spg hotel nearby.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Illini1 Not Up to SPG Standards
I have been an SPG member for around 10 years and, being a consultant in my past life, I have a large number of Starwood stays under my belt. That being said, this was probably my least favorite Starwood hotel. My room had a view of the roof and a/c ductwork, which made noise throughout the night. Couple the noise with a non-functioning thermostat and you have the makings of a sleepless night.
Unfortunately the issues didn't stop after my stay was completed. My reservation had been booked by an individual from our corporate office as we had several of us staying at the hotel. After checking out, I discovered that my corporate card had not been charged for my stay. I had to call the hotel several times to try and straighten it out. After doing some sleuthing, I was able to figure out that they charged the individual who made the reservation instead of charging me. Even after I discovered where the error was, it took several calls to get things straightened out.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Lee1214 Amenity problems and indifferent staff
We stayed one night and wish we had booked at another hotel. Our first room was freezing. We followed the instructions of the staff who checked us in to turn on the heat, but it would not function. She told us if that happened we should call for a heater (which should not be the remedy at an upscale hotel).
The problem was that the telephone was disconnected from the wall. I connected it and we tried to call for the heater. After several minutes, we went to the desk to find a different employee who was indifferent to the person ahead of us saying they had been calling with no answer. That individual asked for ice but got no response or direction.
When we asked for a heater, the clerk argued with us about whether we followed the instructions for the heat. I got irate and demanded a new room.
In room number two, the temperature was normal and the telephone worked. The television, however, did not. This was apparently known to someone on staff because wires were pulled from behind the television. Horrified at what may be behind door number three, we resigned ourselves to no TV.
The other weird thing was that a king mattress had been dragged from a room and was propped up in the hallway. This again does not suggest upscale hotel.
Our room was clean, and everything was stylish. We would have still been much smarter to have booked elsewhere.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Zdo57 Great room and location, average food
The room is very modern, great bathroom and very quiet. Bar is nice and dinner was good.
Breakfast did not meet at all expectations compared to similar price range hotels (e.g. Sheraton)
Nevertheless, I'd recommend the hotel for it's original room layout and modern concept.

Rated 3 out of 5 by TimSky1234 Can't get a response
I always have trouble with this hotel emailing me my receipt. Even when I contact the GM through email, there's no response. It's additional hassle I think that should be solved pretty simply, especially when I check in they tell me they will email me the receipt.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Car2900 Horrible experience, long time SPG member
I am a long term SPG member and have stayed across Starwood property brands, namely quite a few Alofts across the country. This Aloft experience was not only my WORST hotel experience to date, but should not even be classified as part of what is typically a satisfying SPG experience.
The hotel felt incredibly understaffed, with rude and non responsive staff members. The thermostat in my room was broken, which left my room FREEZING cold and when I called to have someone come up to look at it, no one showed up and I was forced to remain uncomfortably cold for all 3 nights of my stay.
Linens were dirty and my room smelled of a damp moldy smell. My throat, eyes and nose were itchy and uncomfortable whenever I was in the room. there were water damage marks all over the walls and ceilings. My guess is there is some serious mold build up and with a broken central air system, no circulation of air in the room, which is frankly a huge health liability.
I chose to "go green" and not have my room serviced everyday in exchange for extra Starwood points and when I called down to request new bottles of water and hand towels, the guest services told me I had to come DOWN to the front desk to retrieve them myself at 11:00pm at night when I was already in pajamas and not prepared for the public eye. Once I got down there they treated me with disdain and tossed me the water bottles and went back to what they were doing.
Hallways were noisy and paper thin walls made it impossible to fall asleep at night.
For someone who takes a lot of pride in my SPG membership, this was a total nightmare. Do NOT stay here, I won't ever return again.
