I love Aloft hotels but this experience changed my mind. The hotel lobby was being renovated I guess the entire time I was there. The bar was closed and there was dust everywhere. I wish I would've received an email stating this was going to happen and so I could change my mind. I was in Brooklyn for a business meeting and it was so upsetting to come back to the hotel with construction in the lobby. The front desk staff wasn't very friendly either. Next time I'm in Brooklyn, which is pretty often, I'll stay elsewhere,

I booked this hotel thru BOOK-IT website and there was no mention of construction going on right next to the ALOFT that was VERY LOUD and started at 7:00 am in the morning. Not very pleasant but they did offer to give a free cold breakfast to people staying there of cereal and bagels...HA. I definitely didnt expect a free room or anythng but maybe a discount.
My 2nd issue was I stayed in rm 1106 initially and I found a couple of ants the first night. The next morning when I got up I killed at least 20 before I called the front desk to talk to them about what I found. They moved me to room 1203 but I had to call back a 2nd time about an 1 1/2 hours later because I was still waiting for someone to come bring me the new key and help move my stuff. Didnt ask for a discount because I figured it would have been offered or SOMETHING but nothing was offered.
Would I stay at ALOFT again....of course everything else was very pleasant and I have stayed at other ALOFTS before with no issues. I iwll actually be coming back in January of 2014 and will stay at the ALOFT again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Katvin Clean and tidy hotel with minimal features
The room was clean and tidy with basic amenities. It would have been a pleasant stay if the staff would have warned me of the cons in staying on the top few floors. I wasn't notified that the music from the rooftop bar/club would affect rooms on the top floors. And when later in the evening, I had to request for a room change and no king-sized bed room was available anymore at that time and I had to change into a double Queen-sized bed room. Apart from that my stay in the hotel was pleasant.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Leighb Nice hotel, but ...
Nice hotel but why are all of the smoke detectors beeping in the lobby cause the batteries are dead? According to staff, been doing it for many months. Not only unprofessional, but makes you wonder what other critical services have been ignored.

Very good value for the money spent. NYC are always small, but these rooms make a good use of space and are CLEAN. Do not expect an amazing view from your room. But who cares! You can hop on the train and be in Manhattan to see any view you want in minutes. Do not expect high-end furnishings (I haven't seen that much veneer in a while). What you will get - will a comfortable bed, a clean bathroom with great products, and friendly, helpful staff. What more do you want for $100/n?!

Rated 4 out of 5 by WisconsinMike Great value, location not great
The hotel itself is great - efficient use of square footage, quality construction. The rooftop garden bar was never available due to private parties and very limited hours. The neighborhood is in the middle of downtown Brooklyn, which is rebuilding, and not even close to the classy shopping of Manhattan. Go a few blocks and you can find shops and restaurants that provide the "Brooklyn charm". If you want a price performer, and plan to take the subway to the city, this is for you.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Skoozie Less than expected
The hotel is in an awkward location and dust offer the amenities I would have expected. The staff was not friendly and did very little to ensure satisfaction. Problems and requests were not addressed promptly if they were addressedat all. The rooms had stained carpet and poor TVs. Finally when I asked if there was anywhere or anything I could use to charge an iPhone I was looked at like I asked for a million dollars and told no. In this day and age that is unacceptable.

The manager, William and the staff, in particular, Barbara were more than terrific! I mention those two but everyone was absolutely GREAT! We booked about 50 rooms and all of our guests were thrilled with the comfort and the feel of the place. many mentioned that the staff were terrific. I think it all has to do with the team William built.
When you plan your daughter's wedding, you appreciate results like this! Thnk you William and team!!!! you made me look good!!! Don

Rated 4 out of 5 by AirlineTraveler Attentive staff and comfortable rooms
The Aloft New York Brooklyn was what you expect if you've stayed at an Aloft before. The room was similar in size to a college dorm room, but with trendy furnishings and finishes. All the necessities are met and you'll get a comfortable night's rest. The staff was attentive and fixed the two issues that arose. The taps at the bar were not functioning, which was disappointing, but the bartender was friendly and obliging.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Keith1 Hotel is Nice, but service is not
My requested room was not available..Had friends that slept on floor as a result. Staff very unaccommodating. Had to Call customer support for help. Very disorganized. Painted lobby while I was there which left only 1 elevator working and no access to stairs. Waited on 2 separate occassions for at least 30 minutes to get downstairs. Just a mess. Customer Support got me in my requested room the next day and refunded one night, but by that time..my stay was ruined.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Andrewmac 1 issue that causes me to NOT come back again
As an individual who loves Starwood Hotels, we were a bit dissapointed with 1 aspect of our recent stay, the Air Conditioner. The hotel sets a maximum of 65 degrees on the A/C and there is no ability to keep a fan running on the unit either. I have alergies and I need consistant airflow. This made for a terrible nights sleep. I'll never stay here again because of this reason. As long as you don't have AC issues, this is a great hotel with friendly helpful staff.

Rated 4 out of 5 by joey no hot water
We just spent 4 nights at your lovely Aloft hotel in Brooklyn. Your facilities are very nice. Unfortunately , on Sunday morning May 5th, the day we checked out, there was NO HOT WATER in our room. I mention this to the young lady when I checked out and was told there was no hot water in the hotel. No "Sorry for your inconvenience" , "No we're very sorry, but if you have time here is voucher for breakfast" This was my first stay at Aloft and could be my last.

Arrived on Fri. No bar service that evening. Air conditioner Stopped working during night. Opened windows for air, was awakened by noise early next morning. Engineer was sent on Sat and assumed it was working. It stopped again and personnel came at 1:30 am and could not repair it. NO choice to change rooms. No yogurt, etc. available on Sat morning for breakfast. Adjustment was made to bill, but not satisfied it was sufficient for the problems I had.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Blobbyhead Nice stay with flaws
Reception was clearly understaffed and overwhelmed. Checking in on a Friday afternoon and paying for a coffee on Saturday mornning took an ETERNITY. Also elevator capacity is insufficient. Another ETERNITY passed to get down from the 12th floor on a Saturday morning. Rooms very nice and decently sized (which is to be expected for $375 a night).
By the way... my SPG Gold Card was totally ignored. Aloft staff acted as if Alkoft was not part of Starwood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GMONEYMANG Can't say enough!!
This was the first stay at an Aloft hotel for my wife and I and we can't stop talking about! We enjoyed the overall atmosphere, accommodations and location but the level of service, specifically from Barbara Rosa, was unprecedented. We found her to be courteous, helpful and just an overall pleasure to see everyday. She gave us great 'can't miss' ideas for NYC and helped us navigate the subway system. Loved staying at this place, can't wait to go back!

Rated 2 out of 5 by FromDTW Customer Service was not good
The hotel looks nice but there is definently something amiss with the customer service. I heard no or i don't know far to often. Only once did i hear I will check into that for you. . 95% of the time when I asked a question about the area, the satffs response was check the computer. On more than one occassion the staff person started to wait on another customer before finishing with me.
I can't say i felt like I was welcomed.
I am a walker and would frequently check my internet (once I learned that the staff would refer me to the internet) directions with the desk and would consistently be told i dont know or it's to far, dont walk., even after I explained that I wasa walker. Ex: I was told that Pratt Institute was to faf to walk, but did it in about 25 minutes. A few people who visited me , felt that the customer service was not good!

Rated 5 out of 5 by SPGmomo Exceeded expectations on every level
I've stayed at the Aloft Brooklyn a few times because it was convenient for work, but I would absolutely stay there again for leisure. Here are just a few positives: Location: Very busy downtown Brooklyn with lots of local flavor, shopping, dining and easy subway access to get you anywhere in Manhattan. Neighboring streets don't seem to be the best based on appearances but the area is safe. Room: I've been always given a room on a high floor with excellent skyline views. Room is not large but the layout and furniture is very efficient and functional. King bed is huge and very comfy and wifi is free. Atmosphere: Very trendy with a great lobby bar and rooftop lounge. Furnishings definitely reflect their target younger clientele as do the staff. No complaints here for the Brooklyn Aloft; they have become a dependable base for me in the neighborhood.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Gonker A hotel in a building site
I expect in 5 years this area wil be completely developed & the last remnants of its seedy side will have disapppeared - until then, it not a great place to stay for a good impression of Brooklyn or belief you are in a safe area. The hotel is a re-model of an older building - airconditioning sounds lke a jet engine in the room.. A rip-off also for the car parking - $35 self-park $45 valet

Rated 4 out of 5 by kl168 Good Value with reward points
Good values for 7000 points reward per night considering the price you might need to pay. The location is mixed. Close to Jay-street subway, but in the non-clean spot (it is safe OK). Reasonable working distance to Brooklyn height for a pleasant early morning walk. The hotel is reaonably good. New, quiet facing front (might be noisy facing back with construction on going). The breakfast is simple for take out, but might be too simple.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ToddA AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING
Our top notch experience started with the incredible attention given to us by their front office manager, and matched by the entire staff. They were incredible - went above and beyond on everything. The room was outstanding, and overall facilities great.
I travel entirely too much for business, but this trip was with my family including two very small children, who were incredibly well accommodated. This hotel is among the very best.

Great location and friendly staff. The faux hip vibe a little over the top, but no less enjoyable. Valet parking is a joke -- slow, unresponsive.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Gladenok This is a relatively decent hotel
The hotel is clean and well kept. However, I do feel the front desk staff lacks somewhat professionalism. And could use some training. However, each time that we've stayed housekeeping has an eagerness and willingness. They have also always been enthusiastic, polite and friendly. My husband and I have stayed here several times. This last time I was looking to extend my stay. When I asked the front desk what would be the best rate they could offer me. The lady replied "if you find a better rate online or at another location you should do that." Needless to say she loss business for the third night. The business center is disappointing. Each time we have come the printer has not printed correctly. This means that no one is maintaining this area. Either the toner was been low or something needs to be changed. Overall this is a nice place to stay that is also close to the city. Nice rooms.

Rated 4 out of 5 by DorothyD Nice hotel
We really enjoyed our time at the aloft. The decor is modern and different from your average chain hotel. The room was clean and organized, just a bit small. It did, however, have everything we need. The hotel is near shopping and a cool market(supposed to close after summer). The front desk staff was great and very helpful and friendly. The young man with the glasses(don't know name) was great! Would definitely stay again.

I just want to thank Barbara for all of the reservation assistance that she so professionally executed. My husband and I stayed at the hotel for business purposes, and had several room reservations for our clients as well. Barbara helped us arrange our accommodations so that everyone was more than happy. Thanks for a great stay and we will definitely make Brooklyn Aloft a part of our hotel rotation for our future needs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by mande Beware of ordering a car pick up through the hotel
The hotel was very nice. However the front desk staff and the cars for hire outside of the hotel seem to have some type of arrangement where they over charge their guests for regulated fares, i.e. flat rate to JFK should be $45. They quote $55 and demand the driver give $10 to the "dispatcher" even when a guest (me) flag the car down. VERY poor form and left a bad taste in my mouth. Not up to SPG standards!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by LSW22182 Great Hotel/Disappointing Location
The property itself is excellent (though 2 of the 3 elevators were out of service when we arrived -- they were fixed by the time we returned in the evening), but half of the street is under construction, and there is really nothing to do in the neigborhood. The subway is right across the street, so you can easily get to other places, The staff is VERY cordial and eager to please. We had a slight mishap with our original room assignment (housekeeping had not made up the room from the previous guest) but Emily at the front desk quickly got us into another room that more than made up for the inconvenience. AND she greeted me by name as soon as I appeared in the lobby the next day (and she did not have time to retrieve it from guest info -- so she REMEMBERED my name). If there were more things to do in the immediate surrounding area, I would definitely return. But until then, I am afraid I am more inclined to visit other SPG properties.

Rated 4 out of 5 by NYYanks527 Cool spot in Brooklyn.
It's nice to have a Starwood option in Brooklyn and the aLoft brand does not disappoint.
They offer valet or self parking, both for a fee- very typical for the city.
The hotel is super trendy and very cool. Rooms are clean, nice and comfortable, especially for NYC. Many options within walking distance for food and fun. Also, offers great delivery choices for food.
I'd defiantly stay here again.
