Rated 5 out of 5 by a friendly hotel the hotel staff could not be more responsive to your needs the hotel has really changed for the positive in the last few months June 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Ranches Great and comfortable Hotel June 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The hotel has great facilities particularly for disabled guests The hotel staff were warm and friendly and had a good knowledge of all local amenities including ease of access for wheelchairs. June 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great hotel This hotel I found as a super compromise of the price and the quality ! I would recomend it to everybody. Very nice, clean, big rooms, big shower, just great ! June 22, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent hotel Very nice hotel with kind and professional staff. Free wifi is the best and lovely swimmingpool area, and the hotelrooms perfect. June 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Easily accessable for London City Clean, modern and confortable June 20, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by okayish Great location if you visit ExCel or fly from/to London City Airport. No upgrades for SPG Platinums; Breakfast is a choice of just 3 items; but also full breakfast in the restaurant is far away from great. Spa is small but nice with pool, sauna and steam bath. Gym has good equippement. Staff could be definately friendlier. Promised folio via email never arrived. June 18, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Beautiful hotel - Variable service Beautiful hotel in stunning contemporary style but very variable service (from uninterested to perfect) little too desolate area for our taste June 11, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Convenience The main selling point of the hotel is its proximity to the Excel centre. The (standard) room model is functional rather than luxurious, but this is fine because if you are at Excel Land you are presumably here for business not pleasure. The bed is comfortable, very important! I only stayed for one night so I can't say what it is like normally. The breakfast is not, sadly, that wonderful. The scrambled eggs looked like they were swimming in a special milk sauce, so I asked for fried eggs. Those were okay, a bit runny, but okay. Less scary than the scrambled eggs. Sorry it is not an unambiguous endorsement of the hotel. The two best things about it are the location and the bed. Then again, maybe that is enough. June 9, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very convenient if attending a conference at ExCEL The hotel is literally steps away from ExCEL. I had an enjoyable stay and would return. June 7, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Aloft Excel Hotel was great, clean and accommodating. Staff was helpful. In particular, Johann was extremely courteous and lent a warm personal touch. I would recommend the Aloft. June 3, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Disappointing The hotel looks pretty good, but underneath it's badly thought out. The room was clean and a decent size, but who decided to put the only seating (a kind of bench sofa) directly under the TV attached to the wall, so that you can't sit on it? Who decided giving you an iron and ironing board was a good idea (which it is) but then not having conveniently placed sockets to let you plug the iron in? There's a fair wardrobe, but no drawers to put clothes in. Etc. I arrived mid-afternoon and wanted to eat some decent food but was informed there was only an snackbar that produced one of the worst sandwiches I've ever eaten. Some staff were great, but in the bar people didn't recognise the names of drinks (reading them from their own list, so nothing fancy) and then couldn't find them on the shelves. At these prices, some staff training wouldn't go amiss. Breakfast staff great, food OK, coffee awful. Standard hotel quality. Unless you arrive by car, it's hard to get to and there are inadequate footpaths, especially if you're dragging a suitcase. So, to sum up: a hotel designed for the photos on the website, not for use. Rated 5 out of 5 by Comfortable hotel Really liked hotel. Lovely comfortable beds. Plenty of towels etc. Staff very helpful and pleasant. I liked the décor and public areas too. Didn't have time to use swimming pool unfortunately. Only problem was I didn't find plug near mirror for hairdryer. Receptionist told me about it at check out so maybe some kind of information on arrival. I would stay here again happily. May 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent stay at Aloft London Excel It was great, nice and quiet. The window blinds are sufering from wear and tear and some needs replacement May 26, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by A great stay Beautifully modern hotel Lovely room Staff particularly nick was very polite and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Views and attractions nearby are amazing! Would def recommend! May 25, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Very Nice Rooms I would stay at the Aloft Excel only because the rooms are really nice. The beds are comfy and there is plenty of comforts included for a very nice stay. HOWEVER I couldn't stand the reception area and the restaurant due to excessive noise and the fact the closed off the bar to hotel guests due to a private function. With the bar closed everyone not at the function had to go to the restaurant which was packed with folks just there for a drink after work, it was so loud I had to raise my voice to ask for a table and continued the loud voice to order food and drink. The restaurant food and drink quality vas very good and the staff were responsive. I am put off that the hotel advertises the bar but then closes it off. I think the hotel should keep public facilities public and book private functions into function rooms. May 24, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent comfort room, check in far too slow Room and hotel facilities great. Bed is ultra-comfortable. However, auto check in didnt work, and the process at the desk to both check in and out was too slow for this type of hotel. May 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The Hotel was clean modern and welcoming I was amazed that I could stay for 1 night for £99 but subsequent nights were £149 each. After much discussion they agreed that I could stay for £99 pn !!!!!!!!!!!! David Otway May 21, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great rooms Was an excellent stay - attending a showcase at the Excel meant this hotel was exactly where we needed it to be. Attached to the venue... The only bit which was unsatisfactory, was when we wanted to eat dinner - we were not informed by front desk staff initially that you can only eat in the restaurant by pre booking. This meant the hotel restaurant turned us away. The front desk staff then assisted us in ordering a take away and were happy for us to eat the take away in the lunge area. Overall a very good stay, and I will stay there again. May 19, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by this hotel is very good Staff is very kind, ready to help you everythings you want. Hotel is nearby dlr stop and you can visit all london with public transport. You can use computer in the hall or wifi in your room. You can have an english breakfast at the restaurant or only a coffe in the room. The hotel is quiet and clean. The restaurant hasn't a lot of choise to eat and in the morning having breakfast near the reception is strange. May 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Would return Modern and bright hotel, rooms spacious May 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Hotel, but not for tourists The hotel in and of itself is great, wonderful staff, comfy rooms, high tech amenities, the whole lot. However, the location is a bit distant if your main aim is to see central London. For events at Excel or in east London, it's an excellent place. May 12, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very nice! The hotel was very nice, the room excellent. We would definitely stay there again! Easy access to Central London. I'm in London a couple times each month for business so will try to stay at Aloft when in town. May 12, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great value and yet convenient for London very handy for London business area via the DLR May 9, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by looks good but something mising the rooms strange design toilet and shower together glass partition between , wardrobe opposite sink not in main part of bedroom, tea and coffee in paper cups a no no also stupid sachet system . TV channels in total wrong order for uk. Restaurant evening meal selection very poor willing staff but poorly trained, bar staff were excellently trained May 6, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by great rooms. I cannot fault the rooms and facilities. The location isn't really suitable for my business needs. The one thing that lets this hotel is the reception. Each time I have stayed the staff are not helpful and there are only 2 on duty even at the peak times so the queues are really long. My room card would not work on the 2nd evening and I was told I must have either extended my stay or cancelled my card - neither correct. Clearly not my fault but no apology or explanation offered. May 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Staff and Facility Hotel features and staff were exceptional. Clean, comfortable, and ideal location to get to the city. With a 3 minute walk to the DLR station that takes you straight into the city, the location was perfect for my needs. May 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Aloft - London Excel I was very pleased with this hotel, it was clean, and staff were very helpful. Unfortunately my kettle wasnt working but this was a minor thing Would definitely stay again. May 2, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Perfect when exhibiting at ExCel! Excellent hotel, great facilities, very close to Excel center April 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Weekend Break - April 2014 Polite staff and excellent facilities. The decor is extremely modern, the piped music is not too intrusive in the communal areas. The security system for accessing the lifts worked well but would I believe cause significant problems if there was a glitch in the system. Access to public transport was much nearer than I thought and would suggest that a limited Courtesy Bus facility to Canary Wharf be made available at the weekend. Breakfast service was good/efficient with very much an American Theme to the choice of food. April 28, 2014
