I have stayed at other aloft properties and am a gold spg member. This location will not allow food delivers to room forcing you to go to lobby even if u call front desk, the room light switches are confusing and tied together in a weird format and finally this was a pre-paid reservation with a room key that had been mailed to me. I forgot the key and they checked me in but when I checked out they did not out a hold on a cc that I had provided but charged the complete room rate. Not what I am accustomed to. I do not plan to stay at this location again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Nanoha I won't stay here again
I wish I had known this was the type of hotel that invents cute new words for nouns that already exist (e.g., staff="talent", pool="splash", etc.). If you find that sort of thing irritating, you should not stay here. But even if you think it's great, I wouldn't recommend this hotel. They lost my reservation (or they thought they lost it), and fussed around on the computer for ages trying to find it. It was taking so long that I said I'd go somewhere else -- but they didn't give me back my credit card & ID when I asked for it. After some time, a new "talent" arrived, found the reservation immediately, and rolled her eyes at her colleagues. It seems that this hotel hires based on youth and hipness, not competency. The tamales at the bar were very good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JW8800 Excellent Room + Careless front desk
I missed the fleight to HK and United Airline recommended me this hotel. The room is very clean and quiet. There is no Free WIFI even in public area, a little bit disappointed.
The front desk overcharged me $24 and said the money would be returned to my credit card after my leaving, however, I did not get the refund after 10 days, I am sure she forgot it at all. Even the bill was wrong, which said I was charged for the wrong number. So, how can I get the refund?

I woke up at midnight to the sound of loud talking coming from the hallway outside my room door. I waited until 12:30 hoping they would go to bed but they did not. I got up and realized it was my neighbors and i could hear them through the door between our rooms very clearly. I turned on the TV so I couldn't hear them and fell back asleep. I woke back up at around 2am and turned off the TV. My neighbors were still talking very loud so i called the front desk after not being able to go back to sleep. Security came and knocked on their door about 15 minutes later and spoke with them briefly. When they left they continued to talk and I was up until 3am when i finally fell asleep. With an 8:30 am appointment I was not exactly bright eyed in the morning.

The convenience of this hotel is likely the biggest plus with a shuttle every 20mins to the terminals. Issues: elevator doesn't seem to take you to the correct floor and you might get lynched by the doors if you try to exit. Front desk folks are a bit green, especially the afterhours folks. Wifi was down. Phone in room randomly started beeping continuously (low batteries) in the middle of the night - had to move it to the hall. No luggage service - important if you're travelling internationally. Shower could use a tad bit more light; understand it's a green concept hotel, but gotta be able to see. Some cheapy light fixtures throughout. Why is the fridge under the sink? I kept bruising my foot while doing make-up or washing my hands. Pricey for what it is.

Rated 1 out of 5 by ryan212 NEVER EVER AGAIN. DISRESPECT IN ITS HIGHEST FORM.
I was so upset over this situation, I had to count to 100- and the 10+ people I have already told, agreed with me fully. - I called 3 days before my stay. My guest was arriving before me and he lost his credit card a couple days prior. He still had his ID/passport and ample cash needed to pay for the room plus any deposits needed. I was arriving several hours later- Upon arrival he is met with a snippy front desk agent. (you know that certain typical kind, that think are better than everyone else) He was told he could not check in without a credit card. EVEN THOUGH i called and made prior notes of this happening. The manager with not a shred of care or concern- told him to just go sit at the bar and wait - mind you he just got off a 7 hour flight, tired, hungry - and of course they didn't even offer a drink. He was treated like a vagrant. I was in flight at the time so he could not contact me. Go sit and wait? What if my flight was cancelled and I didn't make it til the early morning. I'm surprised you didn't you have him arrested for loitering. This is the utmost disrespect to me and my feeling of loyalty to the brand since 2004. We have stayed in much higher category SPG properties than this where they actually know how to treat you with respect. I don't know why this hotel thinks they are better then anyone else. I've got news for you. you are a select service hotel with pre packaged food at an airport. What if I would have lost my wallet on the plane or in travel- and anyone knows how very stressful that can be. It happens- BOTTOM LINE - Any idiot knows, you take care of the people most loyal to you, not spit in their face when faced with a problem. Be warned if you lose your wallet, your screwed. This hotel lies to you says its ok at first, they will let a PLATINUM member or their family sleep in the street rather then accommodate them. I work in the entertainment industry and we all travel often. I will be sure to pass this along. DISGUSTED.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Felps Not a real airport hotel
Was a bit disappointed to arrive at SFO airport, only to find that the "Aloft Airport Hotel" wasn't actually in the Airport. Arriving at midnight after traveling for 14 hours, I was hoping to just walk into something on premise. Still, the night staff was very helpful in getting me checked in and settled, and the atmosphere in the XYZ bar was nice to relax in with some colleagues.
For better or worse, the build quality of the hotel felt mass produced, like each room came prefabbed in components and bolted together.

Rated 4 out of 5 by docd my parents would hate it - NOT ME
I felt like I was in a club much cooler than me. The openness of the lobby was unique, it reminded me of a hip youth hostel. I would love to come here with my kids, dog and hubby. The description at SPG website did not give this place justice. I had no idea there was a pool. The work out room was current. The room was compact, and functional. Pretty much all I needed. But my parents would hate it. No couch. Loved coffee, tea, and water and clean working fridge. Food available in lobby was good for what I needed,

Rated 2 out of 5 by Airlinetraveller Near airport with airline quality food
The bed was comfortable and the shades provided total blackout. However, the microwaved food makes McDonald's looks good. It is close to the SF airport, so maybe they get their food from the airlines. The western omlette was wrapped in tin foil and was mainly some microwaved eggs in a box with a lot of chopped ham thrown on top.
I was hoping to soak in a hot bath to relieve my back pain, but the room only had a stall shower.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Don96 Nice hotel, but...
The Aloft is a fairly nice hotel, with modern architecture. Rooms are comfortable with some strange features such as switches that don't seem to do anything, and an annoying air conditioner that clicked loudly every time it came on and thumped every time it turned off, which ruined my sleep. The prices for the breakfast items are steep and the music they hired for the lobby was clearly not meant for everyone's taste. Convenient to the airport, but not walking distance to much else other than another hotel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mariel18 This hotel meets beyond my expectations
I want to try this new hotel as i frequently visit San Francisco. My stay here at A Loft meets beyond my expectations. Clean, nice and spacious room, especially the rest room. Hopefully , you'l have a full dine in restaurant with room service in the future.
The only thing i was quite disappointed is that your charging a toothpaste which i think it's not level within your hotel standard, not to mention that its not even in a tube but in a sachet pack.
Other than that, your hotel is highly recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by WilliamCO Everything was great but ....
I like this hotel. It's convenient to airport. Convenient to airport car rental (that back road), nice atmosphere, welcoming front desk staff etc.
But this visit the food experience was poor. Not the quality but the service. I'm not sure if they were understaffed but I waited about 10 minutes and had to go to the bar to get some attention. And the service after that wasn't much better. It was main concern.
One other issue. This was my platinum stay. i.e. this stay was putting me over the platinum level. In NYC two weeks ago and two stays before I received more recognition than I did here. I know that they are not obliged to offer me anything but it seemed odd that I was reaching the top level and nobody seemed to care about that level of loyalty and that I was achieving it at their hotel.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Cocoloco2012 Service is Missing!
Being a loyal spg member means nothing at this hotel. Not like my other Aloft experiences. Staff did not recognize my spg gold (almost platinum) status or treat me like one. I booked a King room and when I arrived I was told there were only handicap accessible rooms or 2 queens available. No apology or effort to make the situation better. They obviously overbooked and I paid the price. I have to say it has a nice gym and pool but not worth $270.00 + a night. Very disappointed with my experience.

I stayed in two seperate rooms last week. The temp control was very, very noisy in both rooms. Every time the head turned on/off it was very loud and woke me and my significant other up. I find it hard to belive that this is noraml as i am accustomed to noise associated with hotel A/C and Heat, but tnis was louder than normal and quite disturbing. I eventually turned off the Heat one evening and just dealt with the cold as opposed to the sudden lout noises related to the heat turning on and off.

Good stay with minor issues like rather noticeable engine noise - perhaps insufficient insulation. Particularly nice swimming pool area.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Blieux Noisy Equipment
Aloft needs to rethink its room air conditioner choice. The fan cycled loudly on and off all night - very loud and kept waking me up. Most hotels have the option at the thermostat to program the fan to remain on even as the compressor cycles off. This gray noise is expecially important in the Millbrae location since it is immediately adjacent to SFO and directly under the end of the runway. Too bad - everything else was great, but what's the value of a hotel if a guest can't get an sleep?

Rated 4 out of 5 by Joey831 Very Chic and Modern Hotel next to SF airport (literally)
Everything was nearly perfect about this place. Easy fwy access. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is chic and extremely modern. Puts you in the party mood. The elevators have black lights with music playing in the background just to give you an ideal. Wouldn't recommend this place for families with children as you might feel kind of out of place. BART station is a ten minute walk. In-n-Out burger is a five minute walk! The room coffee taste amazing, something I appreciated and found surprising. The only issue I had with this place was the twenty dollar parking fee. We were trying to avoid high parking fees by not staying in the city of San Francisco. Also all food and beverages have a fee including breakfast items, such as muffins. The cool part is the room comes with a fridge, so stock up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by SKinSF Comfortable hotel, minutes from SFO
The hotel's interior is modern and chic, and the room I slept in was very comfortable. I would chose Aloft anytime that I am travelling through SFO and need a hotel. Note, however, that loud ambient music is broadcast in all common areas of the hotel (lobby, lounge, bar, spa, pool, and patio), from early morning to late night, and this made it impossible for me to enjoy any of those spaces for very long. Do you really need house music in the pool or on the patio at 6:00 a.m.?

My overall experience was outstanding. The staff were superb. Guillermo, Christopher & Melody defines the true meaning of "customer service". Janfred's leadership and poise through out planning and ensuring that our experience was outstanding was the best I have ever had. The only negative thing I would mention is the location of the elevators and exit doors. I believe it could use and provide more opportunity to enter and exit the hotel but again that is minor, the positive definitely out weighed the negative. I was pleased and I will frequent this hotel everytime I visit San Francisco. Upper management really needs to utilize this front desk team that are mentioned because they are the reason that customers will return and frequent this hotel. Customer Service is everything, it will make or break any experience.

This hotel has everything you could need. Really nice, clean, quiet rooms with mini-refrigerator, safe, desk, free wi-fi. Plus a good workout room, really nice sized indoor pool, outdoor sunning area, meeting rooms, continental breakfast plus other food and drinks to purchase. The staff are young and friendly and ver accommodating. Feels like my "home away from home" when I travel to San Francisco for my works convenientlyblocatedless than .5 miles from the SFO Airport.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Rose Awesome room and so comfortable
My two complaints are that I couldn't get a comb as I left mine at home. Went to the Westin and asked for one.
Also a large group of us stayed there from United Airlines and had to leave at 0530. There was no free coffee or pastry to be put out until 6am. What's with that? Lots of people get up early to go to the airport and such and there should at least be coffee before 6am.
Also there is still a charge pending on my Amex card for $50 which needs removed.company paid

Rated 5 out of 5 by Brilliance13 Excellent hotel for an airport layover
I had a great stay for a layover on my way to Cabo. This hotel was my first stay at an Aloft and it was simply excellent. The staff were helpful and courteous. Free airport shuttle and the room was simple but updated and perfect for what I needed. Shower was the highlight of my trip!!! Just wonderful bliss products in shower and the glass enclosure and design were just chic and inviting. I would come back here if I ever needed a layover in SF again!! Thank you!

THe staff was extremely accomodating! Aloft has really hired the right people in the right places, I have a customer service background and i was very impressed. I like the comtemprary environment and comfortable rooms. I cwas really shocked top see the complimnetary bottles of water becasue that is a thing of the past, most hotels want to charge you $5 for a $1 bottle of water. I will definitely stay here again and advised my colleagues to stay here as well

Rated 3 out of 5 by makina great hotel for a college student
The hotel decor is fabulous, but seems more of like a self service hotel with minimal available services (no room service, etc). Had i known this probably would have booked another hotel. Music on in elevators all the time makes it feel like i'm at an after-party that won't stop, not a great feeling when you're looking for a peaceful place t o sleep...not relaxing, if you're looking for a non-stop Vegas party atmosphere then this type of hotel is for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Enchanteu Comfortable and great location
Always my 1st choice whenever I am in San Francisco. Amazing staff, from the front desk to the housekeepers. Great location if you are looking for a hotel close to the airport. Comfortable and clean room. The only downside is that this hotel is very close to the threshold of the runway, so do expect a certain level of noise as planes are taking off/ landing every now and then. Overall, a great hotel to stay!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Coconoki Clean but strange
Overall impression of the room was clean and modern. But here are some strange things.
1. Lighting is wired strangely. The main switch/ light needs to be turned on at the entrance in order to be able to turn headboard light. This means too bright to sleep or too dark to find the switch at the entrance or bathroom in the middle of the night. That was bad.
2. The room cleaner didn't know that we were checking out the day and woke us up. We thought check out time was at 12pm.
3. Front desk called before check out time so that cleaner can come in to clean. Don't you track who is still staying or checked out?
These have never happened to us in our hotel staying experiences in our lives. It is surprising these happened and the front desk didn't even bother to ask how our stay was when we were checking out.
Why are these ok to happen?

Rated 5 out of 5 by Randy747 Excellent hotel with a couple of issues.
My wife and I found the aloft exceeded our expectations, but there were a couple of issues. The shower head is a newer design that has multiple spray nozzles. The problem with that is there is not enough pressure to make it effective. Better to use a simpler design that has a more forceful spray. the other issue is the dysfunctional air conditioning system. You must turn on a switch near the unit, which was not mentioned by the front desk or in the room. After that, you must deal with some "state of the art" thermostat to get the system to work. In the middle of the night the unit stops and the air in the room becomes stuffy. I prefer a unit that allows you to have air flow throughout the night to keep the air moving. WE could never get the temperature right. Other than that the room was laid out nicely and the big screen tv is awesome.

This place was great! I am from the area and it was so nice to spend a night away. We had an amazing view of the airport and got to watch the planes take off all afternoon. The staff were all super friendly and attentive. They made sure we had everything all set for our night. Were offered places to go to enjoy the evening and all the amenities of the hotel. When we got to our room there was a pet package for our puppy. Will definitely come back.

I'm totally unrelated to Starwoods and none of the staff are friends or relatives.
I've stayed all over the world in every kind of hotel and this Aloft is easily one of my best experiences, because every aspect was simple and smooth - I liked the room, the green bonus, the shuttle was easy and the price was fair, the staff responded immediately to my most minor request. I went about my business without any barriers. Thanks, Starwood,

Rated 4 out of 5 by Tennis58 Convenient Hotel
We asked for a quiet room. It was okay until 4:30 the next morning when the sound of someone running in a treadmill woke up my husband. Apparently they put us beside the exercise room which was not apparent when we went to our room. The front desk was nice enough to comp the parking fee since we were leaving the car for 5 extra days while going out of town. That room should not be rented out because of the exercise room nearby.
