Senior Vice President, Global Brand Leader for Westin and Le Méridien
As Global Brand Leader for Westin Hotels & Resorts, Brian Povinelli is responsible for the overall vision and strategic direction of Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ wellness brand. In this role he oversees the overall brand management, compliance, integrity and positioning of the Westin brand and its portfolio of more than 172 hotels in over 31 countries and territories. He also leads the development and execution of Westin’s global marketing strategy, guest experience, standards and communications programs, and works closely with each divisional president on development opportunities for the brand.
With more than 20 years brand experience, Povinelli joined Starwood in 2006 to lead global brand marketing for Sheraton during what was a pivotal time in the brand’s history, managing the marketing strategy around the Sheraton brand’s historic global $6 billion revitalization and repositioning. Most recently, Povinelli was a member of the company’s North America brand management team where he was responsible for marketing, advertising, brand management and strategic positioning for Starwood’s two largest brands – Sheraton and Westin.
Prior to Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Povinelli was the vice president of global integrated marketing at Reebok where he was responsible for the brand’s advertising, public relations and overall marketing strategy. At Reebok, Povinelli was named the Footwear News Marketer of the Year and won several creative awards including being honored by Time magazine for creating one of the Best Ten Ads of 2001. Brian started his career at W.B. Doner & Company Advertising where he spent eight years between their Cleveland and London offices.
Povinelli is a graduate of James Madison University and resides with his family in Ridgefield, CT.
