Just south of Laizhou Bay, Weifang is a historic prefecture-level city in China’s Shandong Province. The Four Points by Sheraton Weifang is conveniently located next to the Bailang River in the center of the Central Business District (CBD), at the intersection of Fushou Street and Heping Road. Retail shops, restaurants, and bars are just steps from our hotel. We’re also only 2 kilometers away from the Weifang Train Station, 8 kilometres from Weifang Airport (WEF), and 45 kilometers from the New Shandong Weifang Binhai Economic Development Area.
Weifang has many historical sites. Don’t miss seeing the small but well-maintained Chinese-style garden and courtyards at Shihu Garden on Hujia Paifang Street. More history can be experienced at the Song Dynasty Fangong Pavilion. Considered the “Kite Capital of China,” residents love to fly their kites in the springtime. The Weifang International Kite Festival is also held here each April. The Weifang World Kite Museum is home to more than 1,000 traditional, creative, and foreign kites. It’s located next to the main square, alongside the river. See the treasure trove of fossils at the Shanwang Fossil Museum or enjoy the more than 40 attractions and rides at the Fuhua Amusement Park. Also, be sure to visit Mount Yi National Forest Park, Mount Qingyun, or Old Dragon Spring.
Weifang is famous for its painted New Year woodblocks from Yangjiabu. A local tradition each Chinese New Year’s Eve, people replace their old woodblocks in order to give New Year blessings to their family and friends. Dating back 400 years, Gaomi paper cutting is another unique Weifang folk art. Don’t forget to sample the famed Weifang Ji-Ya Hele, a type of noodle cooked with various ingredients that is stewed with chicken and duck soup.
