My check in started off sending me to a room that was not made up and when I went back down to the desk the manager (I assume) let me know that it was not a room that was even on the list to be rented, it had lots of problems that they were working on. OK...
off to the second room. I get inside and the AC is running, but it is not cool. The front desk calls to see what I think and I share the situation. We opted to wait while I was away at an evening meeting to see if it cools down. I show around 9:00 to a room that was not cooling.
Carlos is called in and he worked on the unit until 11:30ish trying to get the unit running. Nothing in his arsenal helped.
But this is the good part and your saving grace...Carlos went downstairs and got me another room, brought the luggage cart back to my old room and helped me move to the new room. A true gentleman and great customer service focused employee. He went the extra mile to help and I sincerely appreciate him. He turned a bad situation into a reasonable experience.
FYI - encourage that in all your employees.

ROOM 117 - FOUR POINTS-SHERATON GALVESTON, TX
ONE NIGHT STAY FOR NEXT DAY CRUISE
I FILLED OUT A COMMENT NOTE AND GAVE IT TO A FRONT DESK EMPLOYEE. TO DATE I HAVE NEVER HEARD FROM ANYONE.
(1 MY WIFE AND I REQUESTED A RESERVATION FOR A KING SIZE BED. WE ENDED UP BEING GIVEN 2 QUEEN SIZE BEDS AND SQUEEZED INTO ONE.
(2 THE INSIDE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT WAS LOUD, NOISEY AND KICKED ON/OFF EVERY FIVE MINUTES ALL NIGHT LONG. COULD NOT GET ANY SLEEP. NO ADJUSTMENTS TO THE AIR SETTINGS WOULD MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE.
(3 FROM THE TIME WE OPENED THE DOOR, THE ROOM WAS ALREADY FILLED WITH GNATS. THEY FLEW IN YOUR FACE DURING THE WHOLE STAY AND ON THE TV SCREEN. WE FANNED ALL THE TIME THE LIGHTS WERE ON.
(4 THE SMALL FRIDGE ALSO MADE A LOUD HUMMING NOISE MAKING IT HARD TO SLEEP.

Rated 1 out of 5 by wdwfan6 Waste of Points. Needs Serious Maintenance
This hotel need A LOT of maintenance and the carpets either need to be pulled up completely or industrial steamed (they were nasty). The room walls had marks and chunks of plaster missing, the bedskirts were stained, and there was a bad patch job in the ceiling, where it looks like water damage. Hallway a/c did not worth 1/2 the time, which made it hot, humid and smelly. Alot of rust at pool and there was electrical tape on the railings for the stairs coming out of the pool. Not worth 7,000 points per night. Very disappointed in this hotel and that this is a Starwood hotel. Not up to Starwood standards and has left a sour taste for me for Starwood as a whole.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Greg77429 Excellent stay made special
We held a surprise party for my mother-in-law's birthday. I requested three rooms but didn't even ask about co-locating. Trilby noticed that I had a cluster of reservations and took initiative to get us two adjoining rooms and one across the hall. Unbeknownst to me, it was all arranged before I even arrived. The set-up was perfect!

The staff were very helpful and pleasant. My standard room felt quite large and was very clean--which is very important to me. My bathroom sink drained slowly, but I think it might be older plumming.
The hotel is in an awesome location. You can walk across the street to reach Pleasure Pier, Fish Tales, or the beach. If you walk a little further, you can reach The Spot.
It is also close to the historic district of Galveston and the tree sculptures from the trees that Ike destroyed.

This hotel is clean and fresh, parking is easy and secure. The location is good, near the east end of Galveston and not far from the free ferry to the Bolivar Peninsula. The staff was friendly, helped with all of our needs/requests, and then got out of the way and gave us our privacy! The pool was a bit small although very clean and well maintained. We visited in April and the water was a little too cold for a swim. The beaches are just walking distance across the street, and ther are plenty of things to do and places to eat within a few minutes drive. I recommend getting a suite or junior suite for the balcony (other rooms don't have one). Still, I'd recommend this hotel to all my friends for the price. *TIP- Ask for the birthday special and get the second night for the price of the last two digits of your birth year.

Rated 2 out of 5 by leisuretraveler08312013 A Spring Breakers Hotel
I booked a 2 night stay at this hotel due to recent renovations and SPG reward availability. This is not a hotel for a relaxing getaway or family time. This is a hotel with a partying atmosphere.
At first glance our room was nice and refreshing. However, the duvet was stained with makeup and coffee or coke. The shower was not clean at the bottom of the door and around the base at the floor.
The pool area is small and cramped for the size of the hotel. Hotel guests were allowed to have coolers at the pool. This does not enhance or allow for relaxing/family time at a pool. This policy should be changed.
I checked out of the hotel after 1 night. It was an unpleasant experience. This hotel did not come close to meeting my expectations. I enjoy spending my nights in hotels that exceed expectations.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. This is a 2 star property at best.

Rated 5 out of 5 by FamilyTravelers4 Another great stay in Galveston
We've stayed twice, family of 4 with two small kids. The location is superb, as is the proximity to the beach. Its right on the seawall, not set back which makes the walk across the street very quick and easy and street noise was never a problem. The kids menu in the bar makes for easy and affordable meals as does fast food next door. Beds are so comfortable even my kids commented on how nice they are. We just love Galveston and don't need the big resorts. This is nicer than most at the three star level and the staff is wonderful. Its an older building, but well maintained and we look forward to our next stay. For those with Spg, last year we were upgraded, this year we were not but the view was still very nice.
