Situated in the heart of the city, conveniently across from the main rail station, Hauptbahnhof, Le Méridien Munich is flanked by the some of the city’s greatest monuments. The Bavarian State Opera, originally commissioned by King Maximillian I and rebuilt five years later after a fire, was home to legendary composers. It was here that Wagner presented the world premiere of his gorgeous opera, Tristan und Isolde, in 1865.
The immense agricultural market, the Marienplatz Viktualienmarkt, and the Hofbräuhaus brewery are also within walking distance. The renowned Eichenried Golf Club is just a 20-minute subway ride away.
For travelers arriving by air, there are three options from Munich International Airport. Taxis are available around the clock just outside the arrival terminals. One-way travel time is approximately 45 minutes. Also, an airport shuttle departs every 20 minutes and will take you to the city center. Travel time is approximately 45 minutes. Finally, you can take the S-Bahn Line S8 or S1, which departs every 10 minutes and will take you to the city center. Travel time is approximately 40 minutes.
