Santa Fe

Situated alongside the distinctive galleries, shops, museums, and restaurants that have enchanted visitors for generations, La Posada de Santa Fe Resort & Spa is the only resort in downtown Santa Fe.

Canyon Road—a radiant half-mile of adobe structures that house over 100 art galleries showcasing a diverse range of work from traditional Native American handmade weavings and pottery to modern abstract sculpture—is two blocks away. The twisting, shaded street also features boutique jewelry shops and some of the city’s finest restaurants.

Santa Fe Plaza, a city-square in Spanish-American colonial style, is typically animated with music, jewelry, art, and dance, emblematic of the city’s Spanish, Native American, and Mexican cultures. Located in the Plaza, the New Mexico History Museum and Palace of the Governors—which chronicles the fabled history of the region and is the oldest public building in the U.S.—is an icon that served as New Mexico’s seat of government for centuries.

Several historic churches, including the Loretto Chapel, recognized for its unusual helix-shaped spiral staircase known as the “Miraculous Stair,” and the St. Francis Cathedral Basilica, which was built in the Romanesque Revival style, featuring white Corinthian columns and twelve apostle windows imported from France, are walking distance from the resort.

Learn more about Santa Fe’s rich art culture at the New Mexico Museum of Art, which displays works by Southwestern artists, the Museum of International Folk Art, the world’s largest collection of the kind, and the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, which is dedicated to one of the 20th Century’s most indelible painters—an artist whose imagery expressed what she called “the wideness and wonder of the world as I live it.”

With an open landscape as the stage’s backdrop, The Santa Fe Opera showcases extraordinary musicianship amid a dramatic setting, allowing audience members to take in majestic New Mexico sunsets during world-class performances. The archaeological sites of Bandelier National Monument, where one can explore the origins of the region’s contemporary art and architecture—ancient cliff dwellings abundant with kivas and petroglyphs—is another essential excursion accessible within minutes from the resort.
