How Our Commissions Work

We value our partnership, and feel that good business is as much about reliability as it is about building a positive, rewarding relationship, and how we handle commissions is a part of it.

Consolidated, Commission Payment Services

Commissions are paid to retail travel agencies for consumed bookings in most retail rate categories, including Rack, Corporate, Brand experience packages, Best Available, Weekend, AAA, and Retired Persons. Commissions are paid on room rates, included package components where specified and exclude taxes and service charges.

Commissions are not paid on net rates, which generally include Groups, Government, and Travel Industry Rates.

What is StarCom?

StarCom is a global travel agency commission processing solution powered by Worldwide Payment Systems (WPS), providing our travel partners commission consolidation from all Starwood brands (Aloft, Element, Four Points, Le Meridien, Sheraton, St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, W and Westin). Starwood has partnership with WPS, an industry leader in commission processing that provides travel agents with consolidated payments that will help them optimize their costs and have better control of their commission payments.

90% of Starwood hotels have transitioned to StarCom and process their payments via WPS. This collaboration will provide you with:

  • Consolidation - you decide when you receive a payment.

  • Rollup payments - multi-unit agencies can request one payment to corporate headquarters,

  • Electronic statements including brand logos, guest detail, hotel name and address.

StarCom Tools:

  • Tracking – search for the payment status of a commission by hotel name, guest name, Starwood confirmation number, dates of stay
  • Reconciliation – customized payment reports designed to be imported into your back office systems for reconciliation

  • Commission Inquiry - open a new commission claim or track an existing claim online
  • Online reporting to analyze commissions paid by hotel, by month, by country

Commission Payment Inquiries/ Customer Support:

  • All commission inquiries should be directed to the StarCom customer support desk at support@wpsnetwork.com or by calling 1 866 531 0170 (within US) or +34 95 503 1400 (Spain) (outside US). The support desk is operational from 2.30am to 17:00pm EST (8:30am to 11:00pm CET) Mon-Fri. WPS support speaks 5 languages: English, French, Spanish, German and Italian.

To track your commission status:

  • Log on to www.wpsnetwork.com
  • Go to Global Search from the home page
  • Select Payment Tracking and search for commission status by:
    • hotel name
    • confirmation number
    • guest name
    • dates of stay

Reconciliation: customized payment reports designed to be imported into your back office systems for reconciliation

To develop a customized payment report:

  • Log on to www.wpsnetwork.com
  • Go to D.I.G. (Data Interface Generator) from the home page
  • Click on Start a new file and follow the steps

Commission Inquiry: open a new commission claim or track an existing claim online

To open a new commission claim or track an existing claim online:

  • Log on to www.wpsnetwork.com or email support@wpsnetwork.com
  • Go to Your Commission Claims from the home page
  • Select Direct Data and follow the steps to submit your commission claims
  • To review the status of the claims submitted, go to Claims Summary
