Rated 4 out of 5 by DonHK A Pleasant Surprise
It was simple, to look for a hotel which wasn't casino focused, in a quiet area and not packed with people just aimlessly walking in and out.
Luxury and a weekend getaway was the objective so choosing the Westin was pretty straight forward.
Staff were friendly and helpful, the website booking was easy and efficient. I have to give my thanks again to the supervisor at reception for his kind upgrade to a suite and personally taking us aside to wish us a pleasant stay. To rewind slightly, there was a small queue due to an original lack of attendees at reception but after a few minutes a few more receptionists appeared and the queue dimished. The supervisor noticed us waiting and proceeded to help us check in even though he had no station to do this with. This service was much appreciated too.
This was most unexpected, the suite was beautiful and makes one only wish to have had a second night in order to utilise it fully ! My only request was to be put on the 8th floor thinking to have a quieter floor with a nicer view of the sea so originally booking a grand deluxe room was for this reason exactly.
Nevertheless, we got exactly what we needed and hope to come for a longer stay next time so... until then!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Playin10is Old Hotel with Terrible Service
- Very secluded and difficulty to find
- Front desk was not accommodating and didn't provide free breakfast for our party of 3 even when Sheraton did
- Breakfast was poor quality compared to other hotels nearby
- Pool was cracked and had mold
- Water in the hotel had a moldy taste (I think it's old)
- Did not accommodate our change of stay even though hotel was clearly empty
- Old carpets
- No flat screen TV
- Needs a definite remodel or change of management

Rated 3 out of 5 by Albert212 Room Wifi and Gold Benefit
When arrived reception, staff told that even I am Gold, I book through thid party not directly from hotel, no any gold benefits entitled. As a Gold memeber, I choose stay at starwood hotel, but your staff told that this is policy, should book through hotel directly, I do not agree this policy. She still offered me free wifi, but the signal is very poor, always cannot connected and if connected, very weak signal and I even do not aware the wifi has been disconnected and miss some messages. The welcome drinks just next to the reception was poor and those orange juice was as if drinking water.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Nikita Waste of vacation time
Nothing to compare with Thai or Bali Starwood resorts except prices (
As Platinum I was " upgraded" to rooms 518&519@Ocean wing. Rooms located so far that you must be in good fit to walk there from lift lobby.
Received "welcome" half-bottle (0.375l) of wine with cork but without corkscrew, no corkscrew at minibar too. Called "service express", they promised send room service to open the bottle. Waited for 40 mins. Nobody came. Called again to cancel as wanted go sleep. Light excuses
Flashed the toilet at night (my mistake) - water didn't stop after flashing for 20 mins. Spent 10 mins jerking flash handle to stop it.
During night need to wait for hot water 10+ mins as rooms are too far from water heater obviously.
Don't waste your precious vacation time on this so-called "resort". Go Hainan SPG properties or SouthEast Asia

Rated 1 out of 5 by Bob18 Rooms and grounds okay, service TERRIBLE
After reading the other reviews prior to my arrival I expected to find a hotel that was in disarray. I have to say, for the area and the price, it was average. Rooms are a bit outdated, inclusive of old box style TVs, carpet is a bit worn and dirty, and hot water does take a bit to start, but overall, for the price, the quality was average (not terrible).
What was the worst I have ever experienced was the service! Front desk and restaurant staff was cordial and polite, but the shuttle bus driver was the WORST I ever experienced.
A coworker and I boarded the 2pm shuttle and confirmed as we boarded that it would drop off at the Venetian hotel (just as the sign and shuttle card stated). After the shuttle passed the drop off point I inquired with the driver who only yelled back in the local dialect and motioned to sit back down. Next thing I knew we were at the Ferry terminal, 20 minutes from where we should have been dropped off. At this point I found that others on the shuttle were waiting to be dropped off at the same place, one woman with a small child. The bus driver then began yelling and told us we should walk. We sat back down and simply waited to return to the hotel. As the new bus riders entered the bus the driver stood up again and pointed directly at me and my coworker and began to make racial slurs at me and my partner. (I do not speak the language, I only know this because one of the other local riders came up to me and apologized for what the driver said), to be perfectly clear, I am not a dumb white monkey!
After returning to the hotel I immediately went to the front desk and reported what occurred to the Front Desk manager who said she would take care of it. The following morning I received a card and a few pieces of fruit at my room, with a card saying it was handled. Although, when I went to board the shuttle to the ferry terminal the same driver was still there!!
Never again will this hotel see me, I completely understand cultural differences, but in no case is it ever appropriate for an employee of a hotel to mock, insult, and make racially motivated slurs at a guest! Its obvious from the driver still being there the next day, the hotel has no motivation to fix the problem!

It was the best place for us.
All the staff were friendly very much.
It was very very happy.
We loved the warm indoor pool.
Because the weather is cold.
If I go back to Macau,
I'd like to stay again.

Went to the Westin again 10 years after my first visit when I was still a wee child. 10 years on, the Cotai Strip is now flooded with new entertainment hotels but to me, the Westin is still the best.
Although located in a remote area of Macau, the shuttle service is frequent enough (30 mins) and you can always reserve a seat through service express to make sure that you can get a seat (lucky I did that as I failed to book the 2:30 shuttle at 2:00 and so booked the 3:00 one instead and stayed in the comfy room a little longer). The shuttle service also has stops in Cotai, Taipa and Macau Peninsula, making it quite convenient to get around. And when your day comes to an end, you can take one of the shuttles back to your relaxing hotel room away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
It would be even better if you could get on and off in between stops i.e. get on at the Venetian and get off at Taipa, which would make getting around the city much more convenient.
The heavenly bed is very comfortable, but i didn't really understand how to use the heavenly shower that has two shower heads. The room (6/F Ocean View) was clean and tidy and didn't show any signs of 'weathering' or lack of maintenance which I had feared most after reading some other reviews- It's as I remembered it 10 years ago.
The food at the Cafe Panorama was very good if not a bit over-priced (But you'd kind of more or less expect that from a hotel resort). I had fish & chips and some pasta, the breakfast was also very good.
The staff were friendly, helpful and polite.
It would've been good if there was free wifi in the rooms, but that's not too much of an issue as if you're planning to stay at the Westin for a vacation that's about getting away from it all. I would also have liked to buy some Westin souvenirs to commemorate my stay but could not find any at the souvenir shop, nor was there much signage for the business centre where you can get free internet access.
I also regret not having taken advantage of the golf facilities and pool facilities within the resort which I remember to be quite good.
All in all, lovely hotel and would go there again.
