Rated 5 out of 5 by ScubaMay beautiful environment, friendly staffs
Beautiful beach with sunset. Like the activities provided especially the beach yoga. Happy to see the baby elephant Wandee walking around so relaxing. We had nice dives in Similan Island with the resort dive shop. The staffs of the resort are helpful and friendly, especially Joe (GSA).
This is my husband's birthday trip and we have a wonderful time. Thank you so much for the birthday cake! Definitely will come back again!

Rated 4 out of 5 by FrequentTraveler Beautiful resort, mediocre service, outrageous prices
Le Meridien Khao Lak is a very beautiful resort. Rooms are modern, overall well-maintained and spacious, pools are large and clean with a small slide for kids, there are many amenities (several restaurants, sports facilities, spa, etc.), direct access to the beach, free wi-fi in most areas (restaurants, beach), etc. Breakfast buffet is very good, although not as complete as in many other Asian 5-star resorts. Unfortunately, there are two important issues with the resort management: i) service is quite poor (at check-in, in the restaurants) and ii) prices in the resort are outrageous. A few examples: when we arrived, nobody knew we were long-time SPG Platinum members (so no upgrade, no welcome amenity, no free in-room wi-fi offered); as 75+ nights Platinum member, we had requested Your24 late check-out. We were told that due to high occupancy, it was not possible to confirm this until the day before our departure. The night before our departure, nobody had come back to us confirming or not the late check-out. When we inquired again, it was finally granted on one room, although we had booked 2 rooms. Then, the restaurants are outrageously overpriced. Quality is at best mediocre and prices are 3-4 times what you pay in the small beach restaurants that are only a 10-20 minute walk away. Prices for drinks and ice cream at the pool bar are almost 4 times what you pay at the mom and pop store and restaurants next door on the beach. Same difference for beer and wine. So, while we ate the first night at the resort because we arrived late, we never returned and ate every night at the outstanding small beach restaurants (to the right of the resort, a bit past Beyond Resort). The hotel website also claims that tennis and tennis gear is free. This is not the case: court rental is free, but you have to pay for rackets (100 Baht per racket) and balls (280 Baht for a set). Also, many activities for both adults and kids (archery, cooking classes, etc.) are charged extra (and are expensive). So, if you are planning a beach vacation in a beautiful resort, and if you are OK to eat and drink outside the resort and don't want to use any of the amenities (water sports, tennis, bikes, etc.), then this is a good choice. If you want to eat, drink and do things at the resort, you risk to get mediocre quality and service and significantly overpay.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Matt23 Great hotel.
Our first stay at Meridian, and also in Thailand. The hotel was beautiful and in a fairly remote location making the surrounding areas not too busy and the beach just amazing and light of people. The facilities were well spaced out so you never felt there were lots of people. Food in all restaurants was excellent. Lovely pools, good sunloungers, gardens, lighting at night, just all magical. Didn't rate Khao Lak itself, as as we were on bed and breakfast, visited on several occasions for dinner. Very poor facilities, ordinary food, but very reasonably priced, especially wine. The only criticism of the hotel was the price of wine. Nothing under £30, and a glass was over £8.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Simoki Great hotel, not so great service
This is our 2nd stay in this hotel, the 1st was 2 years ago. Despite some reviews here mentioning the not so good service, we did not experience that the last time, so decided to stay here again.
Here are the good points,
1. Nice spacious hotel, even though the hotel was quite full, it still did not seem crowded.
2. Breakfast in Cafe Lilawadee was good with a wide selection of food.
3. Beach in front of the resort was good, with just a nice number of local shops and restaurants nearby. Good for eating food outside of the resort, but not too many that it become crowded and race for the touts to keep on pestering you to patronize them.
Here are the not so good points,
1. Extremely bad front office staff (more on that below).
2. The main pool is in dire need of repair. There are broken tiles all over the floor of the pool, if a person is not careful, they are likely to get scratched or cut.
Here is the story backing the bad front office staff.
We arrived at the hotel at around 1115am, and proceeded to check-in. Once the front office staff discovered that I was SPG Platinum and not Gold, she tried to get us an upgraded room. She came back with good news and bad news, the good news was that there was a suite available for us, the bad news was that the current guest was only checking out at 12pm, therefore, she requested that we wait for 2hrs for housekeeping to clean up the room after the guest checks out. So we proceeded for lunch at Bamboo.
At around 1pm, we went back to the main lobby to sit while waiting for the room to be ready. The original front office staff saw us and told us that they are still working on the room, and requested that we continue to wait.
At close to 2pm, there was still no news from the front office, so we went to enquire, and was told that they were checking on the room.
So we continued to wait. By around 3pm, there was still nothing, so again we had to approach the front office staff to find out the status, at that time, we were told by the staff there that the room was still being cleaned, and we had to wait another hour.
We proceed to request to speak with a manager, and even that took another 15 or so mins, and we had to ask multiple people before the Asst Front Office Manager, Khun Jib, appeared to speak to us.
By then, we had told Khun Jib that we do not need any upgrade, just to get us a room, as we had already been waiting for 4hrs. Thankfully, Khun Jib managed to assign us with a Deluxe Suite, and within 15mins we were in our room. To Khun Jib's credit, she did offer us a free 30mins Thai Massage as an apology, which we did not take up anyway.
The main issue is not the long wait, it was being kept on a merry go round by the different front office staff, and none of them could be bothered to let us know what was going on. Even worse, when we asked to speak to a manager, the person disappeared to the back room, and never emerged! We had to ask another front desk staff to get the manager!
The hotel just needs to buck up on their front office service and it would provide a great experience. I hope the hotel realises that the first folks that a guest meets in a hotel are the front office staff, and that would set the tone for the rest of the stay.
SPG Platinum benefits offered:
1. Upgraded room
2. Late checkout (We had to "bargain" with the front office staff for a 2pm checkout)
3. Free internet access

As we traveled all over Asia we found many great hotels but none that were managed as well as this gem. Every detail was looked after by the General manager who was on top of everything. We plan on another trip back in July to stay at a pool villa as the place is paradise..

Rated 5 out of 5 by DrPR Superb service
Superb service overall, especially from K. Ekkawi (Front Office Manager). He was very responsive to our e-mail questions months before our arrival. He also took great care of us once we arrived at LM Khao Lak. He ensured that we had a memorable wedding anniversary celebration. Thank you!
The room was great and the housekeeping staff did an excellent job to make sure that our Suite (#291) was always in top condition.
One minor issue: the limited snack for Platinum members ran out early at the Bamboo Bar.
