Located on the southeast shore of the Sea of Marmara, Bursa is Turkey’s fourth-largest city and the center of its automotive industry. In the 14th century, it was the capital of the Ottoman Empire. Hundreds of historical projects are planned, including the restoration of the old quarters.
Part of an upscale mixed-use development, the Sheraton Bursa Hotel is next to Bursa Culture Park, a designated green area. The park is scheduled to be the site of Bursaspor’s new 43,963-seat Timsah Arena. Nearby are two convention centers that host events for domestic and international companies: the 30,000-square-meter Tüyap Bursa International Fair and Congress Centre and the Merinos Atatürk Congress Culture Centre, which opened in the city center in 2010.
Bursa is renowned for its natural thermal baths. It is also one of Turkey’s most popular skiing destinations, especially Mount Uludağ.
