It is clear that the Sheraton Memphis Downtown Hotel has excellent customer service training. Everyone was super-friendly and extremely helpful. I would recommend this property to anyone planning a trip to Memphis.
I wish the hotel would change their policy about allowing guests to use their Green Options credit at the bar.

The hotel, even though it is attached to the convention center, is not prepared to handle a large volume of customers checking in and out in a timely manner. The staff seemed unprepared to deal with billing issues at check-out as well. They could not combine my multiple rooms onto one bill. They were eager to charge my credit card with a $10 balance on one room but promised a refund of my credit in another room in 2-3 weeks.

This hotel is attached to the Memphis Convention Center, and it was totally unsatisfactory in trying to handle the multiple check-ins. We had participants waiting until after 9:30 pm to get in their rooms. Disaster at check in, and check out wasn't much easier. They were unprepared for our numbers, even though ALL the rooms and reservations were known well in advance.

We were there for a conference. They knew we were all coming, because they overbooked and had to get 27 people to go to another hotel. They called one of us and asked if we really needed the 2 rooms we reserved. Really? We arrived at 3:20 and were not able to get through the line and check in until 4:20. The check-in desk had 7 computers, yet there were only 3 employees actually checking people in. There were another 3 employees just walking around telling people to move out of the doorways and walkways. If those 3 had just gone and started checking people in, the crowd would have dispersed much faster. After finally getting to the front of the line, we were told, just like all the others that had been waiting, that our room was not ready yet. So there was a huge crowd just waiting in the sitting area for several hours before they could get their rooms. We did not get our room until 9:30! Hire more maids!!!
Once in the room, the towel situation was an adventure every night. The first night I had 2 bath towels and a bath mat but no wash cloth or hand towel. The second night I had 2 bath towels but no wash cloth or hand towel, and they took away the bath mat! The people in our other room had nothing but 2 bath mats - no towels of any kind. This hotel was everything I would expect from a hotel that would have been about 1/4 of the price. This was without a doubt the worst run hotel I have ever seen.

Staff in the hotel area were excellent and very hospitable. The bar area took us a bit of time to get waited on and did not ask if we needed anything else, they just brought the bill. Had a couple drinks and decided to go elsewhere to eat because of this (they were not busy at this time). The room temperature (set at cool, 65) however, the actual room temp did not go below 73. This was a bit uncomfortable sleeping. Called to front desk & they came right up. It got a bit cooler and I thought it was fixed. However, the next day it was back to the same thing. Overall, I would stay again. Also pool was being renovated and I was looking forward to using the pool. Did not know this ahead of time. The service/friendliness with hotel staff was excellent.

I have stayed in this hotel Downtown Sheraton two times since January 2014. Both times it has taken forever to check in. In January, my room was not ready for 2 hours past check in. This last trip in April, check in was to be at 4:00 and we finally got into our room at 8:30!!!! We only received a slight apology. This Sheraton location needs some serious help with staffing.

Had a horrible dirty Frig delivered to my room.
Found long blond hair in the sheets of my bed.
Found hairs in my bath towels.
Front Desk did not answer the phone for over two hour on my last night. The Guest services tired to connect me to the front desk with no luck...they even said they would have them call me when they were free...they never called. This was the worst service I have ever experienced in this hotel. Normally, I have always enjoyed my stays at this hotel.

We arrived with a problem and needed some local support. When refueling prior to arrival I had discovered a nail in one of my tires. It had not been leaking but I needed to get it repaired. One of the staff managers took our problem to solve. Before we completed registration, he returned to us with the name, address and directions to a tire repair facility that would be able to repair the tire as necessary. Luckily the nail was removed and the tire still did not leak.
