Surrounded by mountains in the Yoichi District, Akaigawa is a small village northwest of Sapporo in Hokkaido, Japan. Part of a fully independent resort area, The Kiroro, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Hokkaido is ideally located in a secluded valley. Sapporo is just a one-hour drive away, and New Chitose Airport (CTS) can be reached by car in less than two hours.
Our modern resort offers a wide range of engaging activities. Ski and snowboard on wide-open trails throughout the winter season, which runs from late November until early May. Well known for having light and dry powdery snow, trails are available for all levels of experience. Children can take ski lessons and delight in other activities at the snow park. Snow Segway rides, snow banana boat rides, snowmobiling, snow bubble ball rides, and snow rafting all add to the exciting Hokkaido winter experience.
During the summer, immerse yourself in Hokkaido’s wondrous natural beauty and wildlife. Go kayaking, hiking, canyonning, mountain biking, and fishing. Take a 3,300-meter gondola ride to the top of Mountain Asari for spectacular views from the Kiroro Sky Deck. From there, adventure enthusiasts can also trek up to the top of Mount Yoichi, one of Hokkaido’s most famous mountains. Equally intriguing is Otaru, a port town just 30 minutes by car from our resort. In addition to picturesque historical structures along the canal, the old town is also famous for its glassware, music boxes, and sake distilleries.
Unwind with a leisurely therapeutic soak in Japanese hot spring bath (onsen). The Kiroro town area also offers indoor activities and a shopping area. After an uplifting day, taste some of Hokkaido’s famous crabs, scallops, oysters, salmon, pork, beef, dairy products, and exceptionally delicious local produce bursting with flavor.
