Environmental Practices

We’re always working towards a greener corporate philosophy by continually implementing environmentally friendly initiatives throughout the hotel.

One of the most unique design features of the hotel is the installation of a living wall—a massive “vertical garden” consisting of more than 9,000 native plants. Not only visually arresting, the living wall also acts as an air filtration system with built-in irrigation, and takes “going green” to new heights. The hotel also boasts a green roof system with a large landscaped area made of drought-tolerant sedum and ornamental grass with long curved arches to emulate the flight paths of the planes nearby.

Our “Make a Green Choice” program lets guests decline housekeeping services in return for a $5 voucher that can be used towards any food and beverages offered in the hotel, or exchanged for 500 Starwood Preferred Guest® points.

Guests will discover several opportunities to stay green inside their rooms, from recycling bins to master light switches and occupancy sensors designed to cut back on unnecessary energy usage. Guest rooms as well as public areas have high-efficiency lighting. To cut back on excessive laundering, we let guests opt to re-use towels and linens throughout their stay. Each room is also outfitted with windows that open to let fresh air in, allowing for a natural ventilation system. Regular maintenance prevents resources from being wasted.

Our environmental consideration merges with our commitment to promoting health from the inside out with our menu offerings. Designed by our executive chef, our culinary program takes advantage of local and organic food offerings while eliminating waste. All un-served food is donated to charity whenever possible, while recycling and composting programs cleanly dispose of recyclable and biodegradable items. Water stations and reusable dishes and cutlery reduce water usage and waste.

Not only can guests recycle their paper, glass, cans, and cardboard at stations throughout the hotel, they’re also able to recycle old electronics and computers. Our in-house audiovisual service provider, PSAV Presentation Services, is committed to using equipment that is both EnergyStar- and RoHS-approved.
