Rated 2 out of 5 by Not so Heavenly As a business traveler, my number one reason to stay at a Westin is for the Heavenly Bed! This Westin's bed was extremely uncomfortable. It was almost as bad as a hospital bed. Very disappointed. Also, the bathroom was not very clean. I will not be staying there again. November 8, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very nice hotel I stayed at this hotel during a conference I attended. The staff was amazing. They met every need, want and question with prompt friendly and professional service. The room was awesome- quiet, cozy and very restful. My only regret is that my stay was only for a few nights. I would have loved to stay for a lot longer to enjoy the surrounding area and see the attractions. (Not to mention to enjoy the room!) November 5, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by good stay Good location. They acknowledged my SPG status. The urban farmer restaurant is good. October 31, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great new Westin I travel a lot for work and have been known to be picky. I prefer Westin hotels. This brand new Westin in Cleveland was really one of the nicest I've stayed in. The staff was great, the rooms were unique and fresh, and the bed was what I always expect from a Westin. Most of all, I think this is one of the best hotel gyms that I've seen. The restaurant is also a great place to have a drink and a good meal. October 27, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Shameful - Never Again!!! While structurally this hotel meets Westin's standards, it fails on all levels of service. I stayed 1 night for a conference and found the staff, although pleasant, to be completely lacking in some of the most basic skills. When we asked for a cab, we were hustled by the doorman, who suggested that we take a "car". Thinking that it was a Westin car, we agreed, only to discover that it was one of his friends or an acquaintance, trying to make a quick buck. (Dangerous practice for a hotel!!!) After paying $30 to valet park my car, I was told to walk to the garage ramp (with my luggage) in order to retrieve it. I'm not sure why this is considered valet service, especially given the $30 price tag. In addition to those issues, after checking out, I discovered that the staff had not included the room charge on my bill, which I had foolishly requested that they email to me, instead of obtaining a paper copy. After weeks of calling and speaking with several employees, each of whom advised they would correct the error so that I could be reimbursed by my employer, I received no return phone calls as promised. I even called Starwood twice for assistance, and only received a successful result after my second call to the Starwood corporate number ( where even the Starwood Rep had difficulty in reaching the manager and in getting a response). Once I finally received a properly itemized bill, I noted that the hotel had charged me tax, despite the fact that I had provided them with a tax exempt form upon check in. This was a completely disastrous experience. Westin should be ashamed!!! October 17, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by The hotel is beautiful The hotel is gorgeous and is very convenient for staying downtown. The rooms are very nice and spacious and the shower is large and plenty of hot water. The night we arrived, our room was not available for an hour, and thus we did not get into our rooms until 7 p.m. I ordered room service for Monday morning and it did not show up before I had to leave for my conference before I was late. The restaurant service was slow, but the food was good. The fitness center was the best I've seen in hotels. Hopefully this Westin can overcome the service issues in the near future and then my next stay will be perfect! Hire more part time staff for those times when the hotel is really busy. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Features The hotel was very nice, and all the staff was pleasant. I really enjoyed the full gym, much nicer than other hotels which just have the basics. Having Starbucks in the room and s Starbucks on-site was very convenient. September 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by My stay at Westin Cleveland I found this hotel to be one of nicest I have stayed in anywhere. The room was very nice. The bed was one of the most comfortable. The bathroom amazing! Great stay! I would recommend it anytime. September 11, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wow. Great hotel and fantastic service. We really enjoyed our stay at this new hotel in downtown Cleveland. The service at this hotel is amazing. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms clean and in perfect condition. Valet parking on time at check out, helped with bags and even held the door open for me as I entered my car. I will definitely stay again the next time I am in town. September 9, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Horrible Stay My stay was horrible. When I made the reservation the spelled my name wrong and lost it and I had to make another one. When arriving to the hotel at 4:00pm we waited till 6:00pm for our room to finally be available. We were not offered a different room or even a room to wait in. When in the rom we found that the tv volume did not work on 3/4 of the tv channels. In the morning our power was out for almost three hours, and even though we waited hours for our room to be ready the day before, we were told we could not have a late check-out. When checking out we paid cash. After driving back to Akron we found out that we were overcharged by $50.00 for a late check out that they said we could not have. We also found out we had been charged on two of our credit cards even though we paid cash. It took over a week to get the money back on the credit cards. Over the following month I spoke to employees at the hotel over 75 times. No exaggeration at all. We even looked at my phone record as it comes in the mail each month. I was hung up on, lied to, and belittled by the front desk staff and Mysa. (or Mesa not to sure on the speling of her name.)After a month of going back and fourth with Mysa whom told me i would recieve a refund i finally got a half refund, and even had to drive to Cleveland to get the check because she said she sent it twice and never did. Mysa also threatened my job as I work at a starwood hotel and she said she could call my GM and tell him how I was supposidly acting, though I was not even on a starhot rate of any kind. I then spoke with the GM's secretary who was even more unprofessional and rude than Mysa was. She hung up on me and then refused to take my calls. After I left her a message informing her I was going to call Starwood her attitude changed 100% and she then was nice and offered to assist me. This hotel has a major issue with employee communication and it clearly needs to be addressed. Throughout the entire stay the only friendly people we encountered were the numerous doorman and bell hops whom were all very nice and courteous. My brother was Married 3 weeks later and we told all of our guests about the experience and suggested they do not stay there for the wedding and he also stayed elsewhere for the wedding night because of this experience. The hotel is still yet to apologize or take responsibility for the major lack in communication and professionalism. September 9, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Arrival We drove over 8 hours and upon check-in encountered a somewhat rude front desk staff, Karen. She whispered her responses even though the lobby had loud talkers, had loud music and she seemed annoyed when I asked her to speak up. We had our reservation for weeks attending the EUMA Convention. Yet at 10pm, Karen said they did not have any rooms and could she offer us drinks at the bar. We declined that and again asked for a room. When my wife made comment that the hotel had "issues", Karen in turn said "ISSUES!". She then swiped 2 passkeys and gave us a room. We took a king size, even though we were assigned 2 queens. Apparently Karen was saving rooms for someone else. September 7, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by sooooooooooo disappointed !!!! I am loyal to the Westin brand as I am an owner in St. John and have always been happy with my Westin stays. I was excited to know there would be a Westin in my backyard in Cleveland. I usually stay at the other upscale hotel in town and was hoping Westin would give them a run for their money...Not even close..Since there are no amenities at the hotel, it was no more special than staying at any no name hotel in Cleveland. No pool, no spa, no coffee maker in the room...Sadly, I will not return September 5, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by good stay Loved the location could get to everywhere downtown. August 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This hotel has great staff and great facilities. Excellent service. Comfortable bed. Great location for sports in Cleveland. August 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Dinning The food served was exceptional, as was the staff. We will certainly return to this hotel in the near future. Our room was so comfortable and I always enjoy the robe and slippers which is one of the great luxury the Westin offers to its clientele. August 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Classy Joint Great service defined my stay at the Cleveland Westin. The valet, front desk, doorman, and housekeeping were top-notch, and the room was comfortable and well-appointed. The Westin sets itself apart by also having an eye for detail -- you don't have to struggle to find the light switches in the room, and the shower actually suits tall people as well (an appreciable bonus to all my tall compadres who have hunched down under countless hotel shower heads.) Well done, Westin. August 25, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Thoughtless Customer Service Approach I made a reservation the first week of August for a two night stay 8/23 and 8/24. I arrived to the hotel at 3:45pm. The valet line was backed up and I spent 20 minutes in the parking garage entrance waiting for someone to come back with a luggage cart. By the time I got inside, I was told that check-in was not until 8pm. The front desk person said they sent an email. I have been traveling and driving for days and did not see this email. The bus loads of people that left from the hotel at 3:00 that were escorted by police caravan out of the hotel were the reason for this late check-in. Why is SPG giving priority when others have made reservations for two nights. I understand they made an attempt by sending an email, but they could have called and spoken to me. I would have made other arrangements if given notice. August 25, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Great location This hotel is in an excellent location in downtown Cleveland, making it very easy to get to different venues and easy freeway access. Service was spotty at best, going from completely responsive and enthusiastic to completely invisible. The restaurant onsite is great for breakfast and lunch, but really expensive tor dinner. Housekeeping was also sporadic. August 18, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by not good look elsewhere, doors slamming all night, no water pressure, double charged for parking (which was corrected), charge for Wi-Fi (which is a joke). For the price there are much better accommodations to be found elsewhere. August 18, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Hotel is ok, but bed is definitely not 'heavenly'! My husband really liked sleeping in these beds, but I found the mattress extremely hard and uncomfortable. Add to the hard mattress two very fluffy pillows, and I woke up with a stiff back each morning. Also, the first day there housekeeping barely cleaned our room. We said nothing about that, and the next day the room was cleaned much better, BUT she turned our thermostat down to 60 degrees (we had left it on 73.) Overall, this hotel is not worth the money we paid. We will definitely return to Cleveland, OH, but the next hotel will be more reasonable. August 17, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Sub par platinum recognition Had to remind front check in staff that I was entitled to 500 points at check in, "upgrade" to a low floor "lake view" room which overlooks a parking lot. Late night menu is a joke, with extremely limited options. Despite the remodel, the soft product at this westin has a long way to go. Second tier hotel service in a second tier city. August 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by contemporary bathroom Loved the design of the shower -- the no-door concept and the bathroom mirror with the built-in light. August 15, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by room comfort The ac unit vents blew right onto the beds where you rested. Felt like sleeping in a wind tunnel making it difficult to sleep and causing me congestion due to the constant exposure. August 15, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Internet It is so petty that you charge for WiFi access in guest rooms. Who does it anymore? I paid for my room $300 at night and you want to charge me $12 for the Internet access.... August 14, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by The staff was excellent in most cases I was across from the club room in 2214. convenient yes but I heard the club door slam constantly early in the morning. I was sold on the sweeping views but my window was too small and limited the view. I felt that sale pitch was dishonest. The staff however was outstanding: the valet, the doormen, the bellman, club room, room service and the restaurant. But I had to change my original room because my request for a King was not honored. The change was made but the implication from staff was I had made a mistake,...bad choice on her part. Also my key didn't work for the club room, three visits to the front desk wasted my time. August 12, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by no features all it was was a room to stay in August 11, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This hotel is wonderful! The Cleveland Westin is beautiful, comfortable and a short walk from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The staff is friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this hotel! August 11, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Horrible overall experience! Do not stay here! I can't think of one redeeeming thing about this hotel. Nothing here went right and when I asked the staff about things that went wrong, the staff would lie about what happened rather than simply apologize and admitt to what went wrong. This is one of the worst hotel experiences I can recall and certainly the worst Starwood experience by far. I checked out 3 days early and left because of this horrible hotel. August 7, 2014
