The hotel is very clean, the hotel staff.. front desk, restaurant staff, valet attendants are awesome. It is such a pleasure to experience excellent customer service in all areas.

Overall, this hotel was a nice experience, as i come to New York at least twice a year, I am looking to stay with Starwood properties, as I am a loyal customer, traveling for work. However, the food establishment at this location was not at all responsive to my status or needs. I visited the cafe for breakfast twice, on the first occasion, when i provided my written platinum card written from the front desk indicating platinum status and breakfast perk, they then returned back to me, and told me I was not platinum status and that i needed to pay for breakfast. I asked them to please check again, there must be a mistake. once this was corrected, they failed to remove the $16.25 from the bill. The second time i went for breakfast, they did the same thing, they also failed to tell me about any additional charges (changing out potatoes for veggies, adding an item to an omlet) - and at this request, they did not provide me veggies, but potatoes only, so i had to request it again, at which it did not come out until my meal was complete done and i had already received my check. (a very long time) - in addition, i asked for brown crispy toast, it arrived partially burned. I do believe that this establishment needs some work on the customer service here. I actually had to find another waitress than my own, as she had disappeared. Next time I visit this hotel again, i would not choose to eat here in the future. I would instead choose an external location. Other than this, the hotel was very clean and beautiful, rooms were spacious and peaceful.

We had an incredible experience at this Hotel. We arrived and our room was not ready which was not a big deal. When we returned the room still was not ready but we were immediately upgraded.
When needed a few things such as a door stop and a luggage stand and our phone repaired these were dealt with immediately.
The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff very accommodating in all regards.
We will happily return.

Room was extremely clean.
Easy to find.
Requested a room with a view. Was given the 6th floor and a side street view.
Called the front desk from the room to ask about local food places and the lady was extremely rude and seemed to busy to talk.
The lobby 'cafe' has Starbucks signs everywhere but is not actually a 'Starbucks'. They just serve Starbucks products. So after ordering food/coffee, I went to use my gift card and was told I could not because they are not a Starbucks...(thanks for telling me while you saw me tapping it on the counter while ordering)
Overall: I think I expected more from my past experiences staying at Westin's. Sadly, this was a huge let down.

My husband, daughter and I went to New York City for a quick getaway. Due to flight delays, we arrived late at night and were warmly welcomed and got into our room quickly. The room was perfect for 3, and a good size. The beds are comfortable and the amenities are excellent.
Service at this Westin was impeccable. From the front desk, maintenance, security and the concierge to the waitress in the restaurant, all were courteous and responsive.
The location of the hotel is so convenient, you can walk to so many places and a short cab ride to many more. Plus, the train station is right there. There are good restaurants very close as well as a CVS.
All in all, next time we go to NYC, we will return to Westin Grand Central.

I visit NYC regularly on business and make the Westin Grand Central my home for 2/3 days at a time. I am seeking cleanliness, comfort and as quiet environment as possible. The hotel always responds to my needs in a very friendly way, from the front desk to the bellman to the management. Thank you. Also a great mid town location.

Lifts not working properly, cold room with cunningly hidden a/c controls, light switches and electrical outlets, paper thin walls, noisy ice room audible four rooms away, and a late night garbage compactor working outside up to 12.45am. On the plus side - clean rooms, comfortable beds, and once found the a/c controls worked reasonably well.

staff ( on this particular stay- especial mention to the female manager and the 2 ladies at the reception and check out
Wonderful location and easy access to eateries, shopping ,transportation and sites

This property has everything I would expect from a Westin/Starwoods hotel. Clean, current and comfortable. I am always greeted by a very friendly and professional staff. Diedre (spelling?) is particularly friendly and welcomes me by name and with a smile and warm conversation.

Front check in to check out the staff here are unfriendly bordering on rude. No greeting no smile not even looked in the eye most of the time. Check out was abysmal with a surley gentleman at 6am who could not even explain the bill and was downright rude when we asked for help in explaining it. I had upgraded the room and was given a room on check in right next door to the lift - despite asking for a quiet room. Asked to be moved and was offered a king bed room - despite the fact I was there with a girlfriend and had specified 2 bedded. Declined and was given a noisy damp smelling room on the 18th floor. Lower floors are allot more noisy due to traffic and I have asthma so room was not good. Finally back home and nearly $1000 is still holding on my account which was taken at check in and has not been released yet. In conclusion this stay was extremely disappointing and as someone who stays at Westin hotels often it was shockingly bad!

Before leaving for breakfast we called housekeeping and request to have the room cleaned up. Upon returning around 4PM the room was still not cleaned. Went out again for dinner and the room was still not completely cleaned upon our return - Blanket on the floor, room not properly stocked….etc. Not sure what happened with the house keeping staff but it was totally unacceptable.

I love this hotel. I love the staff. I love everything they have to offer. This is in a great location. This is the 2nd time I've stayed at this hotel and my experience with them keeps getting better and better with every trip.
You are down the street from Grand Central Station. You have a view of the Chrysler Building and The Empire State Building. I received an email from staff member a week prior to our stay offering assistance in pretty much anything we needed. I get stressed out purchasing the metro passes because I place unnecessary pressure on myself, so I ask her if they would get us (2) metro passes for $20.00. I received an email the next day stating, "Thank you for contacting me and allowing me to assist you in your upcoming stay. I was delighted to arrange two $20 metro tickets for the subway to be arranged before you arrival."
This put my mind at ease and without asking, she placed us on a higher floor (39th) so we could have a view and it was simply lovely. I've been to the city 3-4 times and they have all been during winter and this was my first trip during the spring and it was simply magical and lovely. Flowers were blooming and the city was simply lovely. Coupled with the experience at the Westin and the season of Spring, I will make another trip next year and we will be staying at this hotel again. Thank you Westin for everything you had to offer us. It made our trip that much better.

Fantastic location for walking around New. York City. 2 blocks from grand. Central Station and United. Nations.
My room was great in the top of the building. The Bar Restaurant is a typical Westin but with the New. York atmosphere. The SPG recognition excellent and that's a big plus for me. I will return to this. Starwood Property. Thank You to all the. Staff for my great one week stay.

The staff is very friendly and responsive. However, from a practical standpoint, other guests were very loud in the hallways, my tub did not drain properly (they fixed it), they didn't restock water each day and (the absolute worst) the internet kept disconnecting every 2 minutes over the weekend, forcing the sign-up page to reappear and sign-on process to reoccur. No one could fix that one until Monday.

To keep this short:
- Arrival and check-in ok (very unfriendly and arrogant valet parking staff, but nevertheless friendly check-in staff ladies)
- Next day: very unfriendly, educational and arrogant valet parking staff on the phone (call from room)
- Shirts and other clothing ended up on the sideboard (I thought roomservice has been invented to clean rather than mess up. If I'd mess my room up myself I would consider this to be a different story. 2$ tip per day obviously is not enough in this City.
- DO NOT DISTURB means? Why do I welcome roomservice in my room when the sign is at door handle?
- Check-out: No bill under my door as promised.
- Luggage: 10 miutes waiting ato get it back...
In a nutshell: Not my favorite Westin.

I was not able to access the Internet in my room. I called the front desk 4 times. But I was disconned there twice . After I got transferred to the outside tec services, I got disconnected again. So I gave up and used my cell phone.people at the caffe was nice. Even though I was a bit late for the free breakfast, they talked the manager and gave me a bag of continental breakfast to go.
Overall, it was a good stay!
